Coutinho or Barkley.

Who would you sooner have in your lineup?

Not really sure what that proves Salts. Just cos an ex player and fellow Brazilian wants him there doesn't mean Real want him.
Barkley isn't being mentioned by world football stars is he, at this rate he'll be lucky to be in the Championship next season.

So you calling fat Ronaldo plastic as he was the one linking him with Real Madrid?

Coutinho is hitting world class level this season, he's influential in almost every game just now and may be the Premier League's best player at this moment in time.

Koeman said in the pre-match presser I think it was that Barkley has to step up, probably a very calculated move. He certainly did yesterday against West Ham, aside from scoring. He got involved, was a nuisance and could have had even more.

First time I can remember being impressed by him in ages.

He's not even Liverpools best player at this moment in time.

Firmino and Lallana have been more consistently excellent, but in the last half dozen games Coutinho has pushed on and in the last few games has been the best player.

But he still isn't world class.....he is in a shit standard of league you only need to look at CL recent record of said league.

You can have world class players in a league that isn't the best though. Are we saying De Bruyne, Silva, Aguero aren't world class because they play in the PL?

Don't forget De Gea.

Coutinho isn't world class yet, though.

Yep De Gea is too, even though he has been a bit iffy more and more. I would never have said Coutinho is world class till now though, he has been outstanding this season and really looking the part. Need to be incredibly consistent to get/keep that tag; but for me, presently, he is.

Barkley is a brilliant player with whom Everton are right to build around, but Coutinho is a step ahead. Lallana playing in midfield and finding space between lines is crucial for Liverpool's build-up, and it also allows Coutinho more freedom; reminiscent of Gundogan allowing Kagawa to reach a new level in the BVB double winning side.

It's probably trite to micro-label the most talented players in the league, given the disparities in tactics and surrounding talent.
Elite tier (no particular order): Aguero, Kane, Costa, Alexis, Özil, Hazard, Coutinho, Payet, De Bruyne.

Gundogan, Firmino, Sterling, Lukaku, Silva, Mahrez and Pogba all could hit form and join those ranks.

You cant be classed world class if u haven't done it on the big stage.....to say countinho or even Kane are world class would be wrong totally wrong.

Coutinho at present form. But that's bad news for Liverpool come the end of the season, as no doubt he will seek to join a big club come the summer.

On that basis messi isn't world class as he has only performed at club level. How long have you been watching football?! Perhaps you should watch a different sport.

Now let's follow your line of "logic" if we can call it that. There are many players who have performed on CL level. Look at the Liverpool team of 2005. Are you suggesting they were world class?

I would recommend you listen to those whose knowledge is greater than yours rather than try and debate with them. Saves your shortcomings being brought to everyone's attention.

Regards

The point which seems to have flown over most ppls head is that it's not the platform they perform at which equates to their ability.

No, somebody said he hasn't done it on the big stage and you equated that the to International football with your Messi/club level line. Internationals are no longer considered the biggest stage of football.
You've gone on to mention that shit players have won the CL, and that's been countered to say that shit players will have won every competition.
The point in your last post is fine, but that point wasn't made in your Messi retort to Johnnytodd.

We shouldn't have sold Allen, he was cracking backup. But he was going to struggle for games with Henderson, Lallana and Coutinho automatic starters so keeping him for the bench wouldn't have been fair. I'm really glad he's doing well though.
