Still yet to hear which way MK voted on this whole sordid affair.

We chose to Boycott of course :2thumb:, reckon the seasoned pro's should just kick lumps out of the precious little stars, that will soon discourage the EPL teams from entering.

The other thing to consider is that some EPL teams might not be so keen to "loan" out some of their talent.

We chose to vote for it, which I can understand considering the views of the board that want any way to make easy cash, and the competition has more prize money in each round this year.

It would have been a bit easier to take if all the games involving the prem teams were at their grounds though, but the essence of the competition is a football league trophy, and the fact we are inviting teams that aren't even in the football league is ridiculous and can only end badly.

I read that you get £10k for winning your Group? That'll really transform our club. Life changing amount of money. I'm glad we sold our integrity.

Seems Shrewsbury are trying out something unique for their upcoming friendly tomorrow --

PRE-SEASON: Saturday's game against @CardiffCityFC will now be played over two 45-minute periods #salop

It doesn't even bear thinking about what the original idea was.

There's a few teams now doing four quarters of 30 mins each in order to give the whole squad the required runout. Posh did it yesterday against Norwich, didn't they? Obviously Shrewsbury considered it too and made a previous announcement that would be the case. Makes sense to me and saves time and effort compared to what we do...

Second Saturday of pre-season, we usually put two squads together made up of half pro's and half academy kids to play two back to back games (normal 45 mins each way) at 1pm & 4pm, usually in the MK area (one of those local teams with 50 to 100 followers we were all supposed to support ;) ) but yesterday we did an double header at St Ives involving both them and their tenants, Cambridge City. Only problem was, as soon as Robbo saw the state of the pitch he pulled half the first teamers that were due to make an appearance across the two games so a wasted Saturday there, then!

See draw is tomorrow. I think Port Vale and Portsmouth hold key to really b*ggering this up.

They will be desperate to save this steaming pile of crap so expect a rigged draw and Stoke vs Vale and Portsmouth vs Southampton to be involved.

If it happens and then sky show games is up to them clubs to make them worthless. Think Portsmouth can be relied on as they play 11 youth anyway and take the fine, so a reserve vs reserve game will ruin that one.....will Vale do same

The competition will be killed off far quicker with Reading being an academy team in there then Manchester United.

Anyway, confirmed so far are:
Everton, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Reading, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, West Brom, West Ham

With Norwich, Derby, Aston Villa, Blackburn and Fulham all expected to be in the draw tomorrow.

Our fans would want us to destroy their kids to avoid embarrassment of losing to their reserves.

We have a 30 man squad at moment though so expect that to be utilised in this otherwise.

Assume it's into four regions again so obvious we will get the lardies and Crewe.

I would hope that we would do something to make a mockery of an already shit competition. Can't see any benefit to us playing a strong squad to try and get one over the youth team of our local rivals

To be honest if we draw Stoke reserves I've got no intention of even acknowledging it, certainly would not class it as a Potteries Derby. Can well imagine it'll end up with us, Stoke and Crewe are all in the same group. Does anyone know if the fines are still in place if you name your reserves in this for the FL clubs? Would hope they'd at least have agreed to do away with that.

Shame as this competition has given some happy times to us in the past but I think after this year its best to be done away with.

Wouldn't expect the groups to be straight forward as the distribution of teams is skew-whiff and each group needs one B team, one L1 and one L2. There are no L1 teams in the north east so us and Scunny will end up being in with Newcastle, Boro, Sunderland and Hartlepool. And the south-west looks pretty sparse on anything other than L2 sides (Yeovil, Exeter, Plymouth). Good job Bristol Rovers got promoted.

Substitute Wolves for Fulham as Wolves finished higher. Unless they've taken the honourable decision to decline ... not holding my breath.

May all the so-called football 'governing bodies' rot in hell:box: No to B teams!

Yes, FL clubs can still be fined up to £5,000 for not fielding an appropriately strong team.

Personally surprised no FL 1 or 2 club has declined to enter it if I'm honest.

I think Portsmouth would, last few seasons they openly take fine to ignore the comp.

Be good if vale ain't in with stoke, the less games that attract the armchair mob the better for less than thousand crowds
