Well done guys - strong showing from your boys.

Even in defeat sounded like Luton did have a few chances.

STech has cost us there really, Newcastle where the better side even at that point but we had had some decent breaks and looked well in the game. The Stech drops the ball on the strikers foot who can’t miss from all of a yard and it just took the wind from us and they took advantage. Second goal was another gift really, the third was good play but Pelly gave the ball foolishly.

Second half we were great, Hylton in particular, and had some really good chances. Was sure Hylton came from behind the defender for his second goal, could have made things really interesting.

Just a shame about that stupid 10 mins or so sparked by that error.

Concerned about Stech, errors really creeping into his game now, maybe time to think about whether Shea might be worth a go.

Also think that might be the last of Pelly. Off at half time, perhaps more to change the shape than anything which wasn’t really working, but as defensive midfielder I thought he was almost totally missing in action.

We got off to a shite start, conceding a cheap goal from (an admittedly quality) free kick, but generally being outclassed all over the pitch.

The penalty we gave away looked super-soft, but I certainly can’t claim we deserved anything from the game.

A terrible choice of game to attend given that we haven’t had a pasting for a while, and I usually only make it to 4 or 5 games a season. Oh well.

We played well today. Performances like that are why we lose so few in the league.

Cardiff were average and we had the better chances, despite a prem ref who was ridiculously biased towards Cardiff.

Great chance to win it at the death for both sides.

We had such a young team out today and to a man everyone was superb.
I'm dreading the owners selling one or two of them, we have a bright future if we can keep hold of them.
Very proud skyblue supporter.
Anyone but Man City in the next round, as a big defeat could crush the youngsters.

We go to Hillsborough.

I might go. I’ve got a 100% win record watching Carlisle at Hillsborough.

I'm assuming your replay and our game doesn't clash?

Played pretty well in the end.

First half hour I feared the worst but we looked more comfortable as the game went on, even if we did have to go most of the game without the ball. For all that Sheff Wed had by far the fitter and more technically capable players they looked very poorly organised and once we settled into the game we started to threaten their goal.

An excellent save from Bonham in the second half, and Weds hit the woodwork once in either half. Bonham was tested a couple other times and handled it all quite easily.

In the first half we kept more men behind the ball than we really needed to and so when we did attack we tended to do have nobody in dangerous areas to get on the end of things. Despite that, Hallam Hope pressed hard and almost got a goal through persistence alone.

Second half we pushed forward more and Hope and Cosgrove looked like a pretty good strike pairing. We could easily have had a couple of goals from attacks where we overloaded their box and just seemed to overplay it a bit when we should have taken the shot. Cosgrove had the ball in the net at one point but was flagged offside, must have been close. I think we surprised ourselves with how fragile Wednesday's defence were, I think we've found in Sheffield Wednesday, a team who give the ball away in dangerous situations even more than we do. There were some nice passing moves and you felt either side was as likely to score. Goalless in the end, only the second goalless game at Brunton Park in the past four and a half years but a thoroughly enjoyable game.

We won't win the replay I'm sure of that. It'll probably be a totally different Sheff Wed that we face, and with a new manager too. Their new manager was in the stands today and has probably made his notes about us to ensure they win the replay. Be good money though.

What's going on with Stech? He was really lauded as a big coup for you guys in the summer - has he always had a few clangers in him and these have just come in quick succession?

Not that I don't want County to beat Brentford, but if they go through then our game on the 28th of this month will be played on a midweek, and that's a bummer.
Midweek games at home suit me better at the moment so this one getting moved is quite handy for me! I do also prefer the Abbey under the lights, even when it’s less full the atmosphere seems to be better.

Edit: well done Coventry and County, superb wins for both of you.

In case you haven't seen yet, the disallowed goal was miles onside:

Would have been interesting had it stood as Newcastle were shitting themselves even at 3-1, proper collective arse drop so who knows what could have happened at 3-2 (or indeed had we not gifted them a headstart via Stech)!

Might be the best outcome in terms of the season though as we are now distraction free and not like we need the cash (for once!). Agreed that Stech is becoming a real worry, although to be fair he pulled off a worldie save second half too. Pelly is done I reckon by the sounds of the Jones interview. He'll be here till the summer but reckon he will be increasingly peripheral now and rightly so unfortunately.

That was a wonderful performance by the lads against a premiership team - (although Stoke have been shite the past few months). Great results from Notts as well; the whole of the 4th division did well overall today.

Please don't sack Hughes Stoke. He has work to finish...

Too late, Hughes can still claim he has never relegated a team.

Frustrated with today really.

WBA played a full strength team and we just sat off too much in the first half. If not for Pym it could have been 4 or 5. It was funny to see a truly dreadful penalty from Robson-Kanu though. We then managed to miss a golden chance on the stroke of half time after Foster spilled a cross and Stockley could only hit the post.

Second half we were much much better and actually caused them problems. Particularly when Holmes came on as he got at their full back. We created a few chances and were more confident on the ball, so a good effort but my frustration comes from us starting far too slowly and paying them too much respect. You could see West Brom had some vulnerability but we just let them ease into the game with some shoddy defending. To be fair though, some of their movement and passing was fantastic, which just shows the difference in quality.

He is capable of pulling off absolutely world class saves but balls in the box and being crowded out at set pieces have always been a bit of a concern. I think he lost a bit confidence after he made a big error in conceding a corner (and then subsequently trying to come for and getting nowehere near it) at Cheltenham, which cost us a win. Since then has looked a bit shaky for me, but the errors against Lincoln and again today were really very poor and definitely not the norm for him.

I think he has lost some confidence and a bit of form, as a result.

Thanks, hadnt seen that as my phone died! It didn't even occur to me that he might have been offside in live play, so was really shocked when I saw the flag. Miles on from that picture, pretty inexcusable from the lino. If we got it back to 3-2 we were right in that and would have backed us to come away with perhaps a replay as there was plenty of time left and we were well on top. As you Newcastle were properly shitting themselves.

Ah well, onwards and upwards.

You played a side with a patched up back four bereft of confidence, this was a good chance for you boys to get a win.

Hopefully 10 days of a new manager, returning players and a result in the derby will set us up, depending on the draw of course.

Well done to Coventry and Notts County today too.

The penalty in our game was a terrible call by the ref. For a premier league ref to get it that wrong is incredibly embarrassing. Thankfully Robson-Kanu (who was shite) fluffed it. But nonetheless Pierce Sweeney got a yellow card for the best challenge of the match.
It was embarrassing how much the WBA players dived. Glad I doubt have to watch that bollocks every week.
