They may want to desperately try and find something if they can, from all accounts the US is desperate to nab some of our banks and others are already int he crap and cannot afford more payments.

The FBI tactic is to hit everyone bar Blatter, but hope they all give the details on Blatter to save themselves, as wrong as it sounds if say HSBC know about lots of corrupt Fifa stuff they turned a blind eye to at the time, but hand it over now I suspect FBI may keep them out of it to get at the top man.

If UEFA break away from FIFA consider the world game virtually over. This not only sets a precedent and shows that money is all that counts, it would also give Greg Dyke the excuse to do away with the non league game on the basis that we should only look after the money and the money to the FA is the national team. As much as i dislike FIFA the current structure needs to remain in place. The one nation one vote rule needs to remain as it's the only thing stopping the nations who make money breaking away and excluding the rest.
They need to scrap the executive committee however this can be done within FIFA.

The one question European football needs to ask itself now and Tim Vickery hit the nail on the head. Why do so many nations around the world not want the European's in power.... Then do something to fix it.
The first thing the FA could do would be offer it's seat on the IFAB in exchange for Blatter introducing a 2 term limit on FIFA presidency. We then give some to get some.
Secondly, have the FA's give up the vice presidency on the condition it goes to someone independent from FIFA who can be there for accountability.
Again they give to get some...
Finally UEFA could propose to actually give the World Club Championship the credit it deserves by stopping all matches during the tournament. This would appease some of the continental affiliates and give them a chance to make some money by guaranteeing better tv coverage.
Again these little things would gain favor among the other confederations who rightfully believe Europe only give's a damn about itself and could not give a damn about the rest of the world game

This is one of my biggest worries also.

While I think Fifa is diseased and frankly needs every single member removed and re-built, I do not at all want to see something else replace Fifa.

the idea of fifa is correct, it will always be about making money, but fifa is about distributing money everywhere, if we got some big nation set-up running the show, it'll still be as corporate, but you can bet your life on where 90% of the money goes! that is the simple reason why Blatter kept in charge as he has looked after smaller countries.

But it really needs completely cleared.....no one at all can be trusted in it, the major competitions should be given on merit than money.

Saying that for all people say an England pull out won't effect Fifa, it would if we then banned anyone playing in England from attending, it would destroy the African cup of Nations and a lot in the World cup.

I am optimistic that there will be change, that FIFA will elect a President who is capable of running one of the biggest sports organisations in the World but also who is willing to tackle the patronage and corruption. There has been so much publicity, particularly relating to the ongoing investigations, I would be amazed if charges aren't brought against a number of individuals. Whoever puts themselves forward as a candidate will surely only do so in the knowledge that they are totally clean and unsullied by what has been going on so far. I was really hopeful that Prince Ali might be elected, he comes across as someone who is totally honest and doesn't take crap, definitely the sort of person FIFA needs. I suspect that many of those who voted for Blatter did so in the hope that this whole sorry saga would be allowed to continue for at least another four years.

As for the timing, it came just days before the Women's World cup in Canada, maybe he just wanted to avoid that event turning into the anti-Blatter show. Interesting times for World football.

I wouldn't describe my position as gloating, it is more like unbridled joy!

The World has known that there was corruption inside FIFA for years, it is now time for complete reform and an opportunity to put things right, I cannot for the life of me see how that could be described as sad...it feels more like liberation!
