The odds on 2 or more goals in a Tranmere game must be huge at the moment.

To stand any chance in this game we first and foremost need Tom Conlon back. He is the difference maker for us. Hopefully Gibbo can come through this friendly we’ve arranged midweek too but suspect he won’t play Saturday. Also cannot afford another first half like yesterday, we won’t get so lucky with FGR like we did there with Stevenage.

My team for this would be 4-2-3-1:

Covolan

Cass
Smith
Martin
Jones

Pett
Walker

Politic
Conlon if fit (if not then Rodney on the left and Politic through the middle)
Worrall

Proctor

Tough game, they’ve started on fire, looks as though the positive is they will give you chances for goals as they have let three in yesterday but we need to be more ruthless than we have been. Maybe the new striker will be in by then.

Defensively we’ve got to be solid, Legge looked in distress yesterday so not expecting him to feature but probably the ideal game for him to miss as FGR won’t aerially bombard us so isn’t as bad of a concern with his heading ability I guess.

Need a win to ease nerves but I’d take a draw with their form get to deadline day and hope the new striker is decent to push on from there.

Conlon hopefully we will back for this, makes a massive difference. On yesterday I’d drop Walker if he’s back and keep Garrity in.

Like to see Politic get a game but assume he will play in the friendly midweek, ideally we’d bed him in with the Pizza game the week after but assume that won’t be allowed as we play Bolton!

Orient v Bradford looks tasty even at this early stage.

Orient (a) - I tipped them to do well this season, and they’re one of only five sides currently unbeaten in L2 - it’ll be tough.

We’ll be full of confidence and travelling in decent numbers, again.

Same XI:

We’ve sold out our allocation for Hartlepool next week in the Rakish Bingham stand, so will be nice to be in a packed out away end regardless of the result. No doubt we’ll receive the usual friendly welcome at the train station.

As for the match, it really is a tough ask. You look at Hartlepool’s home record over the last 6 months or so and it’s pretty good, all be it mostly at the level below, where as our away form has been extremely poor this year. But level below or not, they are in that winning habit on their own patch, so that will be hard for us to manage. We’ll need to be at our best defensively, but we really need to start posing some kind of threat up the pitch as well, otherwise we’ve got no chance in games like this.

Taking all factors into consideration, their home form, our away form, our toothless attacking threat, it’s hard to see anything other than a Hartlepool win. But hopefully we can spring a surprise.

Football is full of surprise,s. Think the only aggro you will recieve will be from the NWC.
And that will only be by mouth. The atmosphere will be superb, Enjoy(but not too much)

Have a safe journey both ways.

It's gonna be a good event, gonna feel like a proper fixture, no offence to Crawley or Walsall, a full Rink End which we haven't seen since we went down, hopefully the only aggro we see is inside the ground and by that I mean you know singing, chanting, piss taking, giving oppo players grief for 90 minutes, don't want to see any of that crap in town, no doubt the usual suspects will be out and about looking for trouble so I dunno, keep your head down, I'm sure the police will have this locked up tight, mind Boro are playing at home same day too, dunno how Cleveland police let that slide?

Quite like 11/5 on Newport at Salford. Also 9/4 for the draw in our game. One factor involved is FGR are playing Brentford in the league cup and we have a full week ahead of this so no excuses from Vale not to be at this.

We haven't lost for 3 games which is amazing for us, ignore the fact that we also haven't won for 16 games please.

I imagine our game with Tranmere will not have a lot of goals as since our last win 16 games ago we've scored 5 goals. FGR scored 6 yesterday.

Surprised we aren't favourites to beat Harrogate. We seem to have got it together after a poor start. It will be interesting to see if Taylor sticks with the same side that beat Rovers, or whether he brings in Nombe, Edwards and possibly a new signing (left wing back or midfielder)

Still, hoping for a positive attitude and a 2-1 win. Shame I can't be there

Fair point. I’m a hopeless optimist for all things Exeter though, we tend to produce a really decent team about once every 10 years give or take, and I genuinely think this might be one of them

Jay aside, Exeter didn't look like they had any good players at all against us and never looked like scoring. So by that reckoning, we should tear Bristol Massive Rovers a new one on Saturday.

Obviously we'll lose 1-0.

Two wins so far have come on the road. Hopefully notch our first 3 points at home these weekend against Mansfield.

My preference on team:

GK: JJ Wollacott

RB: Kaine Kesler-Hayden
CB: Dion Conroy
CB: Romoney Crichlow
LB: Rob Hunt

CM: Anthony Grant
CM: Louis Reed

RW: Harry McKirdy
CAM: Jack Payne
LW: Jonny Williams

ST: Tyreese Simpson

Swindon 2-1 Mansfield

Chalk that one off to the wind and players being knackered after just getting back from Orient.
Anyway, we aren't nailed on to win on Saturday, as Devon Lad hasn't got here yet

100th anniversary of Dale's first Football League game on Friday, a 6-3 win v Accrington Stanley. Don't mind history repeating itself, although not to the extent of finishing bottom at the end of the season...

Bit weird for Mansfield because our best two performances are our last two games and we only picked up a point, be interesting to see how we bounce back.

Newcastle & Sunderland also both at home ,it'll be absolute carnage on the trains.
When the Carlisle fans change at Newcastle, they'll probably bump into Mags going into the city & Hartlepool based Mags making the journey.
How on earth the police have allowed this is beyond me.

A surprisingly balanced post there, I was expecting the usual mouth frothing dirge we get from Carlisle.

Can't say we're favourites, it's early days, but yep our home record is recently very good. Think it's 16-2-0 or something. About time, we've never much in our history used the Vic to home advantage. The backing and atmosphere at games is much better now so that probably helps.

We do carry a threat going forward but definitely can be got at defensively. I'm expecting a tight, niggly game as its Carlisles big day out. Talking of which, potential for trouble as others have said. This game brings the bovver boys out from both sides. You probably know how to avoid it, hope you do.

Don’t know what to expect v Mansfield. We seem a bit easy to get at and can’t always rely on JoJo to bail us out. Hopefully we’ll have our primary striker target signed before Saturday.

I’d be happy enough with a draw. Another big crowd expected 9000+

I think the club have missed an opportunity to offer a cheap ticket promo, free tickets to local kids football clubs etc to fill the ground up. There’s a lot of positivity around the place in the last week given the takeover is apparently off. That and I’ve never known the fan base be so united behind a manager and board. Could’ve been a decent attendance with proper planning. Moving to Friday without that just seems odd. At the very least it’s halved an already small away following from Colchester. I’ll be there and happy to have freed up the rest of my weekend but give me Saturday at 3PM over Friday night.

Play like we did first half on Saturday and we'll get pummeled. We're putting the odd half together here and there but most of our end product is tame shots straight at the keeper.

We're really taking time to gel and nobody seems fully comfortable with the system we are playing.

Hopefully we really up our game and it finally comes together. The bonus is that we don't look like conceding many.
