Decent finale. I don't understand the pretension towards the show. It's not like it's meant to have the quality and depth of Breaking Bad or the Wire; it's a fantasy show that thrives on shock entertainment. We all know that ending isn't going to be permanent.

Don't know what to think. It's safe to say the show is now very much a separate entity from the books. Halfway through I was thinking it was absolute garbage. But those last two scenes were overwhelming, even knowing what was coming. Thought they nailed them both

Never expected them to go that far with the walk of shame. Shocking but incredibly powerful and well acted. And surely that confirms Melisandre's somehow going to save Jon. Surely.

There was some decent moments here and there but it felt crammed and rushed to me, seemingly to facilitate more time for the camera man to pan down to Cersei's bush. I think it's safe to say that this season has been by far the weakest of the lot, and has felt the most "TV". I mean, leaving the fate of Sansa, Theon, Myrcella, Daenerys, Stannis' and Jon until next season takes the piss a little bit, as does having the battle of Winterfell essentially happen off-screen too. That said a poor episode of GoT is still better than a great episode of most shows, it's just that the trend this season has put the show on is a bit worrying. Next season really needs great new characters to be introduced, because we lose them far more quickly than we gain them.

The walk was shame was well executed. Loved Arya's scene as well. Oh and Robert Strong.

This is still one of the few shows I can't wait to watch every week but I do feel pretty underwhelmed with the season overall. Granted it's hard to manage expectations with the ridiculous hype surrounding the thing, but I think 10 episodes to cover books 4+5 with some of 6 has made the show suffer a bit. (especially considering we had 20 episodes for book 3) It's felt rushed to me.

Obviously there's not so much action in books 4 and 5 and a lot of it wouldn't portray well on screen but what about the filler scenes we've had in Dorne and Braavos, those storylines could have progressed much quicker than they did. Shame more time couldn't be afforded to the likes of Doran, Theon and Roose. Instead we had terrible sand snakes.

At least we have Euron to look forward to next year!

Battle of Ice was dissapointing, but the CG budget was gone. Stannis is dead, even with the cut away. I'd of liked to see his forces put up more of a fight considering he is a very good tactician, but he was doomed from the start. Stannis is done better in the books definitely, he's written much better and is slightly more likeable. I do admit though I am happy that Stannis is gone so that his insane bum licking fan boys can stop posting "MANNIS" etc... in everything Game of Thrones related. It was funny at first, but it turned into a thing where people generally think he will and deserves to sit the iron throne at the end, even against all of his odds and failures. The Bolton's being infallible is very grating though.

Book wise, this almost, pretty much proves that the pink letter is true. Stannis is in a pretty bad situation in the books as well, I think it will go down differently though. Stannis will still lose IMO, I don't really see where else he can go in the books, his story and purpose was to basically invoke a war in the north and act as a red herring to who Azor Azai and conveniently get Mel close to Jon Snow. Brienne killing Stannos obviously won't happen in the books, they did it since it works a little better in the show. Theon/Sansa was good, like the books except the hole weird Mance shite.

Meereen Stuff was good, liked it. Arya stuff was well done, brutal as well. Cersei stuff was brilliant, walk was done really, really well. Best part of the episode. Undead Mountain was even more obvious than in the books! Dorne in the entire season was just bad, Bronn and Doran the only redeeming parts. Though Myrecella being poisoned makes sense as a declaration of war from Dorne like they do in the books, except just in different circumstances. They'll declare for Dany early in Season 6

Jon stuff was excellent, what I find BAFFLING is the people on twitter going "THEY JUST KILL PEOPLE, I'M NOT WATCHING THE SHOW ANYMORE"... HOW DENSE CAN YOU BE? They might as well have cut to Melisandra winking at the camera it is so obvious she will revive him.

Overall though it was good, worst part was the pacing, which you have to give them a little bit of sympathy for as they do have a limited amount of time. Still not good though. Not sure I agree on them leaving so many cliffhangers as well as with the "bad guys" winning so much too. Yes this is Game of Thrones and it is gritty and depressing, but you have to lift them a little or people just get depressed of being sad in the show all the time, no matter how many jokes Bronn makes to try and lift the mood. It's going to be very interesting what the viewer ship is like for next season with book readers who don't want the books spoilt stop watching, as well as the book readers who stop watching because the show isn't spoiling it for them word for word like it would be in the books. Also whether or not people do actually stop watching because of the deaths, I imagine some will, but the majority won't. Quality has certainly dropped, but I still love the show almost as much as the books. It's very easy to hear about the show in certain communities (/r/asoiaf) which are echo chambers which can quickly put you under the impression the show is terrible now and that D&D are literally Hitler. I think it's important to keep an open mind on it all. It's still bar far my favourite show that I've seen, even if it was the weakest season, I still enjoyed it.

I find it incredibly unlikely that Stannis is dead, it would be absolutely ludicrous to kill a main character off and not actually show it on screen, TV shows tend to do scenes similar deliberately to make you believe they're dead when really they aren't, it was to have a cliffhanger on his arch and Brienne's. Him telling her to do her duty is likely going to remind her that her duty is to Sansa, not her own personal vendetta's and she'll leave him for dead instead, or use him as collateral to get what she wants.

I like the show for what it is; the finale left a half-dozen cliffhangers I didn't expect them to wrap-up in the hour. Cersei's walk didn't disappoint. My only complaint with the former was the redundant "Shame"...."Shame"...."Shame. Think the scene would have been better from a disoriented point of view of the crowd shouting around her. Arya, Sansa, and Mereen plots were all done well. Myrcella and Jaime before the Sand Snakes reveal was good, too; though I wish there were more clarity if Doran had any influence on this or if they acted alone. I really am interested in the looming Martell - Dany alliance despite the mundane Dorne plot throughout series (series despite season making much more sense!) 5. It wasn't the best episode of the show, or even the series, but it was exactly what I expected - an episode to create plenty of excitement for series 6. Those who went in expecting to be underwhelmed were likely underwhelmed, but I think the problem lies within expectations. I'd like to hear what realistic expectations people had for Mother's Mercy that didn't come to fruition.

Saw that, and it can't be dismissed completely, but what is the actor supposed to say in that situation? "Oh, yeah, for those whom were shocked by me death —I'll be back next season!" If anything, I think he would already have his next acting gig lined up if he wasn't returning. To me it seems a convenient interview for GOT producers to instigate to keep people talking about the show over the off-season. Melisandre isn't going to bring back Stannis; what would his character add moving forward? After seeing his wife hang, daughter burn, and soldiers desert, Stannis seemed accepting of his fate—something I also think was done well in the finale.

I wouldn't put Breaking Bad in the same league as The Wire. I'd say it has fewer characters than both, spent more time on them, and ultimately achieved about the same if not less. A couple of artsy existential ponderings episodes (lifted shamelessly from The Sopranos) don't change that. I mean, remember the son? What was the point of him? Next to no development, just wobbling about complaining. Most overrated show on TV IMO.

I actually think that Jon Snow is the only one guaranteed dead, at least in his current form, and kinda suspect that Stannis is still alive. Brienne seemed to hesitate a bit when she realised how honourable he was, and it was a classic "swing the sword but hit summat else" moment.

Breaking Bad was great no doubt, superbly written and clever...

But I never fell in love with it like I have Game of Thrones, it wasn't as epic and compelling enough to make me want to be a super fan, I enjoyed it and appreciated it, and then forgot about it when it was done.

I reckon Melisandre looking through the fire at Jon Snow near the beginning of the series was major foreshadowing. The Shireen sacrifice wasn't for Stannis, hence he lost the battle, it was so she could bring back Jon Snow.

I reckon Stannis might make it out alive too. Cheap move not to show it if not.
