I think Yeovil will be Okay, judging the past guests its County who will struggle more, a bit of a freefall and culture shock mixed with some crap off the pitch.

Still at least their disgruntled fans can have their ego massaged by the combover club.

Note to County fans though.
Do not talk about your founding member status (pretend you were some ex Northern League team) Do not talk about the first division (thats some bankrolled cheating fancy dan stuff) Do not hold rivalry with Forest or Derby (pretend you hate Mansfield, Chesterfield and Lincoln as they have heard of them) ONLY recall triumphs in the cup (saying remember when we beat Ipswich/Coventry/Southampton in the league will only annoy them) ALWAYS talk up your past after a defeat against a team you have "never heard of" have no dignity, blame their pitch, the weather, their owners, the ref.
Or forget these rules entirely until your second season down here, as, to be fair, Chesterfield and Barnet fans have seemed too dignified thus far, to want part in the combover club. Personally I think it could go any way. I know little of County behind the scenes, if they settle quickly they could just power their way back, but if not, it could go the other way... good to have you, perhaps our local rivals next season if you are not paired with Chesterfield, apologies for the stadium and toilets in advance.

We’re in an anomalous and unique position. We’re not an ex-League club in the way that Notts County, Wrexham, Stockport County etc perceive themselves to be but we’ve never played below this level since it was created 40 years ago, so we do expect to be up there challenging for promotion (as we have won this league thrice) but we’re not surprised if we don’t stay in League 2 for very long.

Please don't encourage Notts County/Mansfield chat, believe me it's incredibly tedious. Just ask anyone kn the League 2 forum.

The guy you just replied to is the resident spicehead. I actually find his posts quite entertaining.

There are very few towns in this league that would be high up on a pretty town list.

Thinking of a list, obviously I haven’t been to all of these places! Proximity to a more attractive neighbour doesn’t give you points, otherwise Gateshead, Stockport and us would be near the top of this table.

Nottingham, Harrogate,Torquay and possibly Halifax are the only ones I can think that would be worth a visit on their own merits.
At the bottom of the list are either towns in the orbit of London commuterville such as Ebbsfleet (too windy there too), Borehamwood, Sutton, Dagenham; grounds in the middle of nowhere (Eastleigh, Yeovil and Solihull) or Barrow (which does have magnificent scenery nearby).

Confirmation that our takeover is off and we now have no manager.

Bloody El, Yeovil! :(
Aren't we both in a mess at the moment. We are due back in court ourselves Mid May I believe and are waiting on new owners. We have 30+ players of which we need to ship at least 15 of (I would like to say more but its getting others in will be a problem).
Add to that we have a manager who is very narrow minded with his tactics and has got so used to playing for a point first.

Edit: Its 5th of June Court but still a complete mess again!

It's like we're in a competition to see who can create the biggest shambles. At least we only have half a dozen players contracted for next season, although that means the rest of the new squad will be dirt cheap.

....just avoid the Town Centre... unless you're looking for a new phone deal, want to bag a bargain in a charity shop, or have run out of methadone.

Another twist to our tale, an ex-Director who tried to buy the club a couple of years ago has submitted another formal offer. He seems a good guy and I think we'd all feel a bit easier with his consortium in charge rather than a random American.

You've clearly not been down here in the last 20 years!

I’ve actually never visited Torquay in my life. The English Riviera tag associated with it must have misled me!

That's why we've gone down. Shambles at the top, garbage on the pitch. Did for Hartlepool , Chesterfield and Orient the last couple of years.
I'm convinced it's as often the most badly organised clubs rather than the worst teams that go down.

We were a shambles when we went down. And it got worse in our first season, flirted with relegation for a bit and a gnats cock from extinction. Players weren't getting paid, winding up orders all sorts. Parachute payments all down the drain. This season, pretty shite on the field but a bit better off the pitch, however all the legacy debts has left us short of money and competitive budget.

You see it a lot, particularly with the old established league clubs when they come down. Most stabilise after some time, some don't (York, Stockport).

You see the same mistakes being made-keeping all the highly paid players who got them relegated in the first place is one. Or signing the same old journeymen who do the rounds of all those clubs, or the has been 'named' managers who have failed countless times already.

Chesterfield were classic last season. But they seem to have sorted themselves out.

That’s a relatively new thing. When I first started going, too long ago, I can’t remember anyone calling us Notts. And “County, County,” coming from the main stand was the big chant.

The very first team I ever saw in Bristol was Notts County. 16th December 1961. Had a very young Tony Hateley up front.
