I was there last night, and Stones was one of our better players.

If only Barkley knew when to pass though....

his biggest problem tbf, he should play off a striker and nothing else, the problem is he wants to be involved in everthing instead of being selfish and just doing what he is best at, running at defenders with the ball.He cant play a midfield game, he cannot concentrate. Both Martinez and Hodgson play him in the wrong role.

He's playing much better this season as a centre mid, he's not clever enough to play off the striker or good enough at finding space that high up the pitch. I didn't see the England game but Barkley is becoming a much more consistent player without losing his natural flair or skill, his decision making is his weakness but I believe this will improve over time

i totally disagree, his best asset is his pace and dribbling, he is not and will not ever be a midfield player, he can't tackle for a start.

my opinion only of course

John Stone's biggest weakness from England is that his team mates are simply not as good as he is.

We ALL know that Stones is going to have his head turned by a LOT of money. He is 21 years old, he handed in a formal transfer request in the summer. He is obviously a very rare breed of defender. He brings the ball out from the back, Bobby Moore Franz Beck esque!

We also ALL know what happens to young players snapped up by greedy, big money clubs. They just rot on the bench after one or two mediocre. Think Jack Rodwell. He was the next England captin according to the fickle fucks. Where is HE now? On the Sunderland bench! I'd rather sitin the depths of Hell! It's just another example of bad advice from bad agents etc. He will eventually succeed Ramos at Real but not yet...give him some time, or do people believe that by playing with better players it will make HIM a better footballer?

He cost Everton peanuts. Alright I'd accept 85 million for him in todays crazy transfer market. If I were him I would stay put. At least for another three seasons until the inevitable happens. Let us hope that Martinez can build a team that will make him stay. Maybe 85 million is a little too short considering Charlie Austin is being touted for 15 million! LMFAO!

Feel free to discuss....

Raheem Sterling is doing terribly at Man City. Barely gets a sniff at the reserves let alone bench time for the match day team. Should definitely have stuck with Liverpool where at least he'd have played every game.

I'd be surprised if Stones goes this January, but even more surprised if he is still at Goodison after the summer window next year. Everton are well aware they can't keep players of his calibre beyond even medium term. They'll get decent money for him though, possibly even approaching £50m if they play hard ball.

Stones and Barkley both need Champions League football.

Stones and Barkley both need Champions League football.

Stones to Chelsea or Arsenal if Wenger decides to push the boat out, he'd go to either in a shot and he'd be a big benefit to both. Will Chelsea have CL football next season though? It's currently looking unlikely unless they win it or have a massive turnaround of form.

Barkley is more difficult. He's a great player, but given the money Everton would demand, what team in the Premiership need a player like him who both could and would pay it? Chelsea possibly if Hazard goes at the end of the season as some are rumouring might happen, although again that wouldn't necessarily mean CL football next season. United maybe? Arsenal less likely given the quality they have in Ramsey and Ozil. I can't see City being that interested in him beyond the benefit of him being English. And he's only 21, would he be prepared to go to a big team on the continent should any show interest? Unlike Stones I can see him still being at Everton next season.

If United bought Barkley, they'd pay about twice the going rate for him and then they'd play him at left back or something.

I could see them going for Stones too. And I think it'd be the best fit for him out of the top clubs. He's better than Jones, Utd are already fairly sound defensively but still have that slot alongside Smalling to fill. The England link up with Smalling and Shaw will appeal as any England manager would look to play a settled back line. Out of the other clubs City don't need/want him and there's too much competition for him. Wenger will likely stay faithful to his current crop and put Gabriel in when Mertesacker eventually gives up and so that leaves Chelsea where he would replace Terry, but given how things look there right now it's not that appealing. Whilst it'll turn around, the fact that Azpilecueta aside the whole back line could do with replacing means he might end up in a bit of a scrap for places if Chelsea then went mad and bought everyone they could. I'd imagine partnering Smalling is preferable to partnering Zouma or Cahill.

United paying £80m for two players certainly wouldn't be unusual looking at the last 2-3 seasons. Everton losing their two best players in a single window though, even with that money in the bank. They'd suffer a lot.

Fantastic to support a club where all the BIG clubs want your players i'd hate to support any other club.........i'd say Ross is lease likely to go of the 2 but we don't need to sell either as were are not a selling or even worse a selling franchised club, how bad would it be to support a plastic club like that.

With several 14-16 year old youngsters reportedly better than both Ross and John in there respective positions the futures bright.

top 4 by xmas too
