For anyone looking for a good Kodi box on a budget, £37 is an unbelievable deal. Just purchased one for the bedroom, I hope the price is not a mistake. It's an older generation box but MINIX provide amongst the best service for their Android boxes and that one is still receiving updates as opposed to 99% of these cheap Chinese manufacturers who are just ship and forget. Normally you would pay over £100 for the Neo X8-H Plus, even on Amazon.

I get HD links for everything with Salts (down to Real Debrid - but I found Salts to be the best even without it). Castaway pisses all over Sports Devil too - if you configure it to look through the Soccerstreams subreddit for links.

I'm surprised you haven't come across issues. More and more streamed content from addons such as SALTS, Exodus and Phoenix are being encoded using HevC. The Firestick doesn't come with a native h.265 hardware decoder, so it will either refuse to play or will play with problems as the CPU attempts to software decode but falls short.

To be honest I don't watch a huge amount on kodi other than sports these days, finding plenty of content on Amazon prime and Netflix, so probably not come across any HevC encodes. I've had the Amazon box and stick since they came out so got my moneys worth from them, if it gets to the point where they are outdated for me I will upgrade to something else when needed.

Clearly they have cottoned on to this going too cheap, it's gone up to £86 now. Glad I got in there when I did.

Thanks for the tip with this deal. I ordered it yesterday (it was even 1 pound cheaper (35.99) and although it was said that it's only free UK shipping they even ship it free to Germany. Just got a message that it is already dispatched, the only thing that worries me, it is sent by Polish Post not DHL as usual for my orders from amazon.co.uk but I think when the parcel arrives Germany it will be taken over by our DHL.

Actually I have only a 1GB/8GB Android Box (which had cost more than this 2GB/16GB Box) and I have sometimes buffering at HD PL Matches. I hope with doubling the RAM this buffering will vanish.

You shouldn't have any issues with buffering with that box, it has a very good CPU. Unless it's your bandwidth, in which case the speed of the box is irrelevant.

The only real drawback is that officially Minix have stated it won't be updated beyond the KitKat firmware it comes with, which rules out the ability to update to Kodi 17 (which requires Lollipop or above). Small price to pay for a rock stable box for £36 though. However, there is a member on the Minix forum who has a working Lollipop build for the X8-H Plus and he says it will eventually be released once he irons out the bugs. Kodi 16.1 is fine at the moment and for the foreseeable, 95% of builds are built for it.

Mine has also been dispatched and they have provided a DHL tracking number. Strangely they're claiming it will be delivered on the 16th of December, which was the latest date on the order. I doubt it will be that long, I expect it next week.

And even that is cheap, they normally go for around £110 new. Which is a bit silly as the newer MINIX Neo U1 can be picked up for less than £100 which supports Lollipop by default.

The US power brick works on anything from 100v to 240v input so you will only need a cheap direct adapter plug. They're a pittance.

I've had a response telling me they made a mistake in the listing and that it comes neither with the power adapter or the M1 air mouse. They have offered me a full refund once I send the box back or £20 in compensation for the missing mouse. I took the £20 which means I got the box for £16. Fucking bargain. Already have an air mouse so didn't need it anyway and I already had a couple of US to UK adapters.

Anyway, I suggest you do the same when your one arrives.

Just had a quick look through eBay after reading an article about Kodi. Christ. The amount of people who sell Fire Sticks on there for £40 more than RRP simply because they've spent 10 minutes installing Kodi and a build onto them. How many idiots are there out there who buy these things without performing the two minutes of research to see how easily they could do it themselves? I also bet 90% of the time these sellers install builds based on looks rather than performance on a crap device like a Firestick, leading it to running like a lame dog.
