Is marquis really that good?

He's a proven goal scorer at this level, and he's coming into his prime at 27. That fee doesn't look unreasonable.

I'd be surprised if he chose us over Charlton, being a London boy and all that. Unless we suddenly do what we haven't done previously and break our salary levels.

As from August 1st he's got 9 months left on contract , should get him for £500-£750 k .
Am surprised Millwall haven't come on for him , I think he's from that area.
His Uncle & Cousin & her kids come on supporters coach a few times each season.
Not a hope in hell you would get him for so little despite the fact he’s in the last year of his contract. The club have no interest in selling him so any interest would have to match the clubs value which is far higher. Millwall have inquired but couldn’t meet John’s wage demands

You know you've reached Yorkshire when you see those massive chimneys pumping smoke out !
Don't get me started on the North East ( M"Boro )
We haven’t got any left fella blew the last ones up at the weekend so you’re a bit out of date

There is absolutely no chance that we were ever in for Marquis, for several reasons.

Sorry, Bobbin - what are those reasons? I'm assuming fee, salary etc?

Two of the reasons, yes.

No love lost between the club and player either, our fans running on the pitch and calling him a ‘Millwall Cnut’ after the play-off semi won’t have helped those relations.

Looks almost certain that Gavin Whyte is off to Cardiff then.

Bugger. Means we only have Jamie Mackie left up front now :(

One of our old ITK accounts told me last summer that we were interested in Marquis... if it’s true that we really did have £750k to spend on Stockley in January then that’s one that I’d love us to reignite interest in.

Seen a few bits and bobs saying Omar Bogle might end up at yourselves as part of the deal.

Cash plus Bogle for a season or permanent wouldn't be too bad would it?

I hadn't heard that, but yes would definitely take him.

No doubt it'll be the loan though.

You won’t get him for that, I know what we wanted in January for him when Sunderland came calling and I’ve a fair idea what we want now, as stated previously the Club doesn’t want to sell him so they won’t let him go unless their value is met.

He's got ability, but he's not a team player, and can't last more than an hour without getting cramp.. The game is all about him, his step overs and his need to pull out all the flicks and tricks.

Apparently Marquis is having talks with Pompey today
I just can't see where he'd fit in the side, unless we've spent £450k on Harrison to play a few pre season games and KJ doesn't think he's good enough and drop him to the bench. We don't really play 2 up top, maybe a 3 with Harrison playing wide right, but then you are dropping Harness who we've paid £1million for? Also we have Hawkins and Pitman already 2nd and 3rd choice for the number 9 role.

We won’t get him anyway because of wages I’d guess, but that post was purely based on the £500k-£750k estimate that someone above made.

Who knows I don’t understand the thinking in terms of moving to another league 1 side, the reason he wants to leave is because he wants to play in the championship now. In respect to his best position I think most Rovers fans would say it’s behind the main striker

Matty Jarvis rumoured to be training with us. We could do with another wide man, and it'd be a huge lift to bring him back to the club.

You'll have to employ another full time physio if you have both Marshall and Jarvis at the club. Hopefully they can job share..

We've just released two midfielders who spent the majority of their last couple of years in the treatment room, so we've got an bit of space.

In all seriousness though, if it's on the right deal and based on appearances then I'd take him 100%.

Both on their day are fantastic players. Everytime Marshall has played at Fratton Park he's changed the game against us. If you can keep them both fit they'll get loads of assists

We've signed midfielder Jimmy Ryan, most recently of Blackpool and formerly with Fleetwood, Accy, Scunny, Chesterfield and Shrews. Seem to remember him being quite useful, and adds needed experience to a youthful squad.

Am I right, or is he bobbins?

Quality player on the ball but he's a crock, so I'm surprised to see you give him a two-year deal. Only played 45 minutes last season and that was on the last day.

:conf:

At least it was on the last day rather than the first! Hopefully he's kept himself fit over the summer...

Signed Trevor Clarke now officially shortly before he gets stretched off in training, sounds a bad one just typical.

Marquis is an odd one.
Can't knock what he has done over the past couple of seasons but he was OK, nothing more, nothing less for us.
Most Millwall fans thought he was gash.
