Seems we're still in for Mark O'Hara from Posh who want £50k for him.

In isolation, £50k doesn't seem too bad a deal for him but Cowley may think he can split some of that money to get other deals over the line instead.
Knowing Danny he's probably offered half!
Even with Walker signing today we'll only have 16 tomorrow, 3 injured 1 suspended out and 3 of those on the bench tomorrow are youngsters. Still a bit of work to do before September 2nd.

So after Anton Ferdinand and then Michael Turner it looks like Southend can't keep away from an ageing ex-Premier league defender - seems Liam Ridgewell is going to sign. He was seen in Southend and now half the current squad have started following him on twitter.
We better learn from past mistakes though and only give him a year contract, Ferdinand and Turner were fantastic 1st season and then broke down and totally looked their age the next.
Confirmed. Take this signing tbh he looks in half decent nick

Miss out on Walker to Lincoln and now Bayliss is off to Preston. Our season is going to shit before it’s even begun.

How does he compare to your other academy players over the years?

Think we're talking £1.8m-£2m for him, big money for us, would break our transfer record if that's correct. Hopefully you get a decent sell-on included and he fulfills his potential.

If it happens, I don't believe anything PNE related until its done & dusted.

God... We might win tomorrow.
Wouldn't surprise me, our whole midfield and our POTY are injured and we have no goals in the side.

Decent enough fee for us, shame we won't see any of it. Will probably bring in a few mediocre loans between now and the close of the window.

Hepburn Murphy has signed on a season long loan from villa. Happy with that, offers some much needed pace.

Didn’t sound like he impressed in loan at Cambridge last season. We still need another defender and it seems Earl is going to Bolton on loan rather than Rovers.

Christ, how many strikers do you have? Makes the decision to send Ponticelli to you even more baffling, doesn't sound like he'll see much playing time

Such a good signing. We know he is capable at L2 level week in week out and he looked like he could easily take the step up. Was hoping we were in for him, but then again it looks like Lincoln needed another striker even more than we do.

Yes, I would be surprised if he features much. It seems we have acquired some funds very late in the day, which means some of the existing strikers will be down the pecking order.

We still need another 3 or 4 to make up for Norwood going :)
The reviews from Villa are very positive.
Rushian Hepburn-Murphy seemed to have been deployed as a wide man in their pre-season, so maybe that's where he'll be most effective for Rovers.

Grant has been wide left, certainly did in the friendly I went to with Payne in the 10 role . Walker and Akinde may play as a pair honestly don't know. Once we get everyone fit going to be great to see I reckon.

Grant's form wasn't great for us so it'll be interesting to see how he fits in. I don't see him as being a Lincoln player, he was a bit of a luxury. Even your little players I think of as being quite tenacious.

Walker should do well. He wins more than his fair share for a man of his stature, although he's isn't remarkably fast or strong. There's some bitterness on Stagsnet over him choosing Lincoln but I wish him well. 26 goals so plenty of reason to like him.

I see Southend are the latest to take a punt on Andre Blackman. That bloke must have the best agent in the business.

We have signed Nathan broadhead from Everton on season long loan.
Who I hear you ask. We'll I thought the same.
However Everton fans reckon he has a huge future and was their under 23 player of the year. Lots of talent.
Looking on YouTube he looks an exiciting centre forward to go with Boyce.

Division higher football would swing it and his mates play here, Grant, Pett and Toffolo.

I can't see understand the bitterness. We weren't in the run-in since it was clear that we wouldn't be in League One.

Imho you guys had the best squad but not the best manager and he didn't get the best out of the players at his disposal.
We've tried to get both of them before but you guys were willing to pay more of their wages than we were.

What role do you see Grant and Walker playing?
As they did today, really. Both made solid debuts.

Grant was getting a little too 'flicky' and Cowley got a message on to keep it simple, which he did to good effect. He set up the first and played very well with Toffolo down the left.

Walker isn't as strong or tall as Akinde but still had enough of that about him to be a nuisance and win things in the air and hold the ball up, which he did. He's also quicker over 10 yards so he can get away from people and sidestep challenges. He was making runs that people weren't quite seeing (bar Grant on one occasions) but that'll come with games. If it wasn't for two worldie saves, he'd have had a couple of goals (or maybe one, not sure who got the final touch on the second save). A standing ovation for Walker when he was subbed for Akinde.

Sweet, I thought when he played that Grant's problem was being too fancy sometimes to the point that it was detrimental to the team. He tries flicks and turns when he should just hold up the ball and lay it off so another player can boot it up field to release the pressure. I wouldn't describe myself as a footballing dinosaur, I like players like Grant but his decision making I thought was lacking, which is an usual thing to say when he clearly has such great technical ability. We could have coached poor decisions out of him.

Walker is the much more complete of the two so doesn't surprise me to hear that he got a standing ovation.

He's been given a monthly rolling contract, which and I quote 'has many stipulations included in it.'
He's been with us all pre-season and Bond seems to like him, says he's been a model pro so far and the penny might have dropped with him.

So if he is here at the start of each month you'll know he's been a good boy but if he's dropped like a stone he'll be off to beg another club to take a chance on him.
