You saw on Saturday that we need one! Hopefully JCH

Why did that transfer fail in the last window?

We have signed a forward this week but initially they are joining up with the u19s although on a pro deal. 18 year old Cammy Cooper who was released by Rangers after he said he wouldn't sign a pro deal with them as they don't have a clear pathway to the 1st team. Our Academy manager Stevie Kinniburgh who previously worked for the SFA helped along with the clear possibility of getting into the 1st team.

We would all love to know why it failed tbh.
Rumours that JCH changed the terms when he got to the ground, other rumours were that we shit the bed and purposely delayed getting the paperwork through on time
It would have smashed our transfer fee paid record out of the water

MacAntony said on his pod this week that JCH will leave in the first week of the window. Do you think it’s likely he’ll come to you? Judging by the rumours you’ve listed, if any of those have truth, then it doesn’t look likely.

I cant see how McAnthony will be in that much of a rush to get shot, given he is scoring goals. He even had the cheek to say his price is rising :bg:
Honestly dont know if he will come here, apparently he has family in this area so we will probably have a big chance if still interested. Wont be anywhere near £800k rising to 1M though like on deadline day.
He never seems to play very well against us but still scores plenty of goals elsewhere!

Lowe and Ridsdale were at Carlisle today, likely watching Owen Moxon. Possible Ben Whiteman replacement if he doesn't sign a new deal.

Well, fair to say Moxon was less than impressive against Orient.
In truth, he's only been average all season.

Never seen him play, seems he's suited to sitting deep and trying to dictate play?

I'd guess Whiteman will be looking for a £15k-£20k a week contract, so it makes sense for us to consider our options.

Maybe we were having a look at Armer as well, although it seems most Carlisle fans think L1 is his limit. Done well for himself though since we released him.

JCH is a strange one. Looks an absolute donkey most of the time but you can’t argue his excellent goal totals/ratio.

Surely one of the Championship teams around the relegation zone will snap up Clarke-Harris if he's available for about £500k. His goal return wasn't that bad last time he was in the second tier.

Looks like Huddersfield are going to recall Jordan Rhodes in January which is quite amusing, Darren Moore is a fan.

Probably went to watch Moxon and walked away wanting El Miz instead.

Someone said on our forum that it was one of yours we were watching.

If I was guessing, then maybe Ed Turns, both of our LCBs are injury prone and getting on.

He’s Brighton’s player. Dunno if they’d go for ending his loan and sending him to you in January. Doubt it as he’s got nowhere near enough senior football under his belt yet. Could be Dan Happe; unlike Turns he is naturally left-footed and at 6’5” more of a prototypical Championship-sized CB.

Was just a guess, maybe we're looking at Turn for next season, or on a permanent deal.

I know that Sotirou has scored a few but can't see us being in for another attacker.

We are closing in on "highly rated" USA born midfielder Adeteye Gbadehan looks like Brentford and Southampton had him in the summer on trial and Blackpool were keen.

No idea other than he is 6'3 and assume he would be a longer term prospect considering our strength in depth in midfield.

We’ve loaned young striker Sonny Cox to Yeovil, which is bold considering we only have 2 players to fill the central striker role now: Muskwe who’s just returning from injury and James Scott who’s not really a number 9. Not ideal.

Daniel Ayala was/is training with us. 32yo CB ex Middlesbrough and Blackburn.
We need a CB badly as 2 got injured just after we let one go on loan to Morecambe

Sotiriou is genuinely gash. Quickish and a reliable finisher but an absolutely shit footballer. Not complaining because he’s the only player we have who knows where the net is, but he’s an active liability in open play.

We've re-signed midfielder Alex Gorrin on a short term deal until the end of January.

He's been training with us and working with our medical team since his contract ended so already part of the squad. This was confirmed when the other players cheered loudly apparently when they were told.

He could be part of our match day squad on Saturday as we have a bug going through the squad this week.

I see Exeter have the Crewe model of vastly over exaggerating player ability and getting £1 million pounds plus for them. Crewe used to do a couple each year and half of them were bang average, but because they were coming from the Crewe academy, they always added an extra zero on to the price tag.
Extremely late to this while trying to find another post but...
Who have Crewe ever sold for more than their value?

Maybe James Bailey. We did well to get £400K for him!
He was a good player! You could argue that he didn't have the track record to back up the transfer fee at the point that we sold him but he did really well for a while in the Championship at Derby. His career was ultimately ruined by injury, feels like that happened to quite a lot of our academy kids...

Tom lowery can't seem to play more than half a dozen games without breaking down and being out for multiple months at a time.

Its also sloblock. Archie Collins is doing really well at Peterborough, Josh Key is regularly man of the match at Swansea (as is Grimes, another one of ours). We still have a tribunal pending on Key, so we will see what we get for him.

Re Josh Key, hopefully his performances for Swansea will bump up the tribunal fee somewhat. I expect we’ll get a fair chunk for him.

Couple of bits of Vale news:

Has now signed on a deal until January to allow us to access him, very highly rated but until they play you dont know.

In bigger news James Plant has signed a new 4 year deal, come through the academy he made his full debut against Ipswich in an unfamiliar central midfield role and was outstanding, then scored against Charlton and Plymouth in his next couple of apps.

Been playing out of position at Left Wing Back to cover injuries and done fairly solidly all be it feels wasted as he is a very good right winger. Outstanding at Right wing back against Bolton the other week and this hopefully means we can either keep him for longer term or command a big fee.

Tom Pett is set to sign - one Vale fan called it the minute we appointed Clarke:

Steady player, one of those who did alright for us last season so should be a decent pickup even if he hasn't played now for a while. Surprised it's taken so long for him to go anywhere, at least to L2. Expecting come January Tom Conlon will be making his way down the M6/5 to yourselves too, he was another favourite of DC.

Decent holding midfield, rarely lost the ball and keeps things ticking over, depends how fit he is I guess after so long out but give him time to get up to speed it should be a steady experienced signing.

Captained us to promotion with Conlon injured so will always be well thought of, was probably the most surprising one we let go as most thought he would get a new deal (all be it if a deal for Arblaster was already in the works it made sense).

Wish him all the very best, slightly surprised he's gone south though as his partner plays for Manchester United.
