Some suggestion the Jake Young deal is done on our forum and will be announced tomorrow… unsure on this one… obviously if he repeats his form at Swindon great signing but guess that’s the big if…

Assume we’ve got decent money from Charlton for Uche (great business if it is 6 figures) and used that to up our bid possibly.
Appears a bit of a risk if true. He's never shown that form before and I'm perplexed as to why Bradford loaned him out to a team in the same division. Surely Bradford would have seen some potential?

The only thing I will say is he is just starting to mature as a footballer and has his best years ahead of him. Could be an absolute masterstroke or could be a disaster.

Having seen the goals he has scored, he does look to have some ability and presence (albeit against poorer defenders) and a bit of that arrogance you need as a top player. Again...could go either way.

Yeah I was just scrolling through Twitter and thought it was local journo Rich Cawley saying we’d won the race to sign him was but was actually O’Rourke who incidentally has just this second tweeted to say we’re in advanced talks with Ladapo.

We were in for Ladapo in the summer but couldn’t do anything with his wages (£16k per week apparently).

If Charlton are happy to meet that, makes the CBT situation all the more bizarre having read today that he’s essentially on strike to force a move - no body should be that keen to move to Derby. It looks like Charlton, if they wanted, are in a position to at least match and probably better any offer we would put forward.

He was loaned out because Hughes didn’t rate him, that was off the back of being let go by FGR, ten games for us and a failed loan spell at Barrow before his amazing three months at Swindon - form which was an exception to the rule based on the rest of his time anywhere. Talented but too inconsistent so far in his career.

I really struggle to believe we would be paying £16k a week but who knows. Will be sad to see CBT go but struggle to see how he fits into a 352 system. He did get a mysterious undefined injury last Friday that meant he couldn't play on Saturday.

If Ladapo and Ikpeazu go ahead we are quite stacked for midfielders and forwards.

In defence we are linked with Rarmani Edmonds Green and have signed Macauley Gillesphey. I would have liked to see us sign a wing back or two if possible as I struggle to rate Tennai Watson and Tayo Edun from what I've seen so far this season

There is no way that Ladapo is on anything close to 16K per week. I will be glad to see him go, personally! It must mean we're close to a striker or two...finally!

Think he really needs to be in a front two, would thrive in this league if he has a partner. He struggled playing a very difficult role for us in Championship but was good last season.

We've recalled Charlie Kendall from his loan spell at Dagenham and sold him to Woking. We signed him from the NLS two years ago, but it's not one that's worked out and he did nothing in his three or so loan spells lower down the pyramid to suggest he was going to replicate his goal scoring at a part time level.

Also sounds like we'll be going with loan rather than any permanents in window - we have two spaces left (well, match day spaces anyway).

Very happy with Ikpeazu and Ladapo. We could have done with this rebuild in summer though, assuming we are also having to pay a bit more to attract players given our league position. This window is very uncharlton though. Seems like good business and not deadline day panic deals.

We do have Andy Scott in charge of recruitment, who signed about 90 players in Forest's first prem season. Hopefully unlike Forest, there's no FFP issues

There are also whispers we are after Aaron Collins but they are just whispers at the moment, will be interested to see if anything develops

Charlton really throwing the money around aren't they.

Really don't see why you'd even consider going to Charlton as a player, feels like they're never going to get anywhere - arguably the most negative fanbase I've ever encountered.

Relatively big club at this level with great training facilities and a good stadium. As bad as it's been recently, a potential outsider for the playoffs next season too.

As for a negative fanbase. We've spent 10 of the last 15 years in league one, after having spent 4 of the last 75 in the third tier. Unless we move up the table we are due our worst league finish since 1926. All this being completely unavoidable and due to horrendous mismanagement of the club. I would have thought an Orient fan would be sympathetic

Nail on head.

As a club we’ve been on the decline for years, it’s miserable.

The only time things seemed to be on the up, it was curtailed by covid.

Despite having the joint-most assists in the league his performances have been very disappointing since the start of 2023 (many say its been when he got snubbed by Wales for a call up).
We are short of attacking players, so selling him now will heavily depend on us having a top player lined up

Yeah fair enough. Apparently we've put in a bid so you may well reject and we will try again in the summer. I'd imagine his dip in form has made him more affordable. Surprised he didn't get a champ move in summer

Yeah we thought he might be off the previous 2 windows, especially after getting league one POTS. We havent heard anything this end but wouldn't surprise me if someone came in for him

Manager Jon Brady has signed a new, improved deal at Sixfields. Cracking news, longest serving manager we’ve had in a long while and he’s one of the best in the division in my opinion. Buzzing.

Got to love gentlemen's agreements.

The board will never be forgiven for the Alfie sale (not the selling him, but the peanuts he went for). That they're getting pelters for this Goodwin deal baffles me though.
I wasn't best pleased when I heard we were selling him but I never thought we'd get 400k. Good business and importantly goes with DC's blessing.

One itk is claiming we have bid ~1.5m for Collins. If true I really have no idea where we are getting this money from and why it wasn't used in summer. I just hope it doesn't sting us in the future. Whilst obviously a fantastic player his dip in form mentioned above does worry me especially as £1.5m could get us a couple of great players in positions we need.

I'm not unsympathetic, but I've got mates who are Charlton fans and it's just endless negativity.

I'm sure it's frustrating being in league 1 when you played in the prem in living memory, but believe me, league 1 is not the hellish punishment that some Charlton fans seem to think it is.

Try losing 6-1 away at Bromley on a cold Tuesday night, that's true suffering.

I was actually at that Bromley game and it was a warm Tuesday in August but I get your point haha.

It's all relative though. This is the worst period in our history, likewise that early National League era was for you.
You even said yourself why would anyone join Charlton they're going nowhere. That's exactly it, there hasn't been any light at the end of the tunnel and the club is falling apart before our eyes. We've had bad owner after bad owner. We're getting 6k for some home games in the league this season. So yes league one for 10 out of 15 years for Charlton is really really poor.

It's difficult to be upbeat when the club is consistently poor and going through the worst era of its history.

If its true and you have bid 1.5 m. He will be in your team tomorrow. If he's not your ITK claiming this is true is a bull shitter.

The guy seems to get his info from Charlie Methven. So it'll likely be whether Charlie is bullshitting or not which I'm sure is very often the case

Will Goodwin is finally confirmed.
They've proper had your pants down there! Hasn't he only recently had a run of goals and then only 6? I know you've got a bit of cash floating around but this seems foolhardy in the extreme. He might come good and I know Cheltenham have improved a bit but they're still down there for a reason. Our fans are doing their nut over potentially signing a guy from the league below who has scored 16. If we'd have gone for Goodwin for that money they'd proper lose their shit! I bet Darrell Clarke is pissing himself.

I did see one of our fans make the joke that we were competing for a striker from a club who were breaking records for not scoring goals at the beginning of this season.

One of the best in the league is CBT....surprised he isn't going higher to be honest but no doubt Derby will be paying stupid money, in spite of nearly going out of business just over a year ago.

It should push them over the line as in spite of their good form I thought they looked thoroughly average. Just like Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday, I'll be glad to get rid of them out of this league. It no longer resembles division 3 with the amount of money floating around.

From being comfortable with our squad [forward excepted] we are down to our bare bones in defence
Jones is doing well with Australia and Forrester his replacement is out for six weeks. Toal will move across to the right with Iredale on the left. Both our wingbacks are carrying knocks. Evatt knows we need a couple of loans i expect them to come in Monday/Tuesday next week
