Unfortunately not, there are some delays so the build hasn't started yet. We have put a new temporary stand up where the Kop was though which holds an extra 2250 I think - so that will be the jump you spotted.
If you could whack a roof on these Temporary stands they could make a killing. The cost of building things is so high. If someone could create a 2250 stand Temp stand with a roof I'd knock the Railway End down at ours tomorrow and get it there.

The club have said they are making a loss but realise the building work cannot commence for x amount due to legalities I think with the surrender of the lease from the WST, so to get people more chance of tickets, they are willing to get a temp stand in (cheaper without a roof i'd imagine) to ease the ticket demand (!). Still like rocking horse shit I might add.

I've read that it'll be coming down in April, however the season also finishes in April so might be as soon as the match has finished and people have left, they can start to dismantle and then start building work. Hopefully all legalities will be finalised, the finance in place.

I wish we did it with the bish, even if it only added 1000/1500.

I don’t think we can demolish it without access via the pitch unfortunately.

We had temporary stands both with and without roofs when we were at the hockey stadium. They never felt very sturdy. Hopefully they are a bit better constructed nowadays. :fl:

Christ - I remember them! MK Dons isn't a very happy hunting ground for us. Got hammered 3-0 I think the first time and 2nd time we lost. Think we only ever beat MK Dons once in their short history. Bleak.

last time we went to MK we just needed a point to go up, they needed to win, 5,000 of us travelled and we didn’t turn up and lost 1-0.

Very much not a happy hunting ground

If were up at the top we’d be sold out for home fans every game - the open corners at the Pontoon end could us another 1500+, maybe 2k if properly designed. We won’t do it without a promotion though. Then we know we’ll get the Osmond filled more regularly.

We could do something with the corners between the Ian Greaves and the north and Quarry lane end but obviously bishop street is a priority.

In fact pre-pandemic a Hampton by Hilton hotel was going to be built incorporated in to the Quarry lane end - https://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/2018/february/new-hotel-plans-receive-public-acclaim/

What actually happened with that stand?
Im guessing there was originally a stand there and it fell into disrepair and just never got replaced or something?

The same stand is still there just boarded up, god knows how long but it’s been there for decades and decades, think we last used it maybe around 02 before it got condemned. It used to have terracing on the side too, if you look where the scoreboard is you can still see the steps.

Basically when Haslam got the ground redeveloped he purposely cut loads of corners for his own benefit, the main stand (Ian Greaves stand) really should have been move back to make more room for the bish.

It was definitely in use and housing Notts fans for the Nottinghamshire derby back in 1998. Bumper crowd of 6,736 in attendance that day thanks to a very generous Mr Haslam.

Was obviously very basic being just an uncovered terrace but did a job and far better than the current eyesore. Any chance (shallow) safe standing could be return at minimal cost?

The last time spectators were allowed in the Bishop Street stand was the 2004 play off game vs Northampton. Crowd 9,243 (2420 away fans)

You almost had me believing this fake news about that stand being used but then you went and mentioned almost 2500 travelling Northampton fans. No chance this happened.

Must admit that figure took me by surprise, I think they only managed 1500 for our play-off semi final the other year!

Northampton travel like Notts County used too, unless something changed while being in L1.

still half surprised they’ve sold out tbh for a few weeks, but given the entertainment on offer (but sadly not the results) on the road for notts i suppose it’s understandable!

In 1998 we travelled and packed out 2.5 of the Field Mill stands including the infamous Bishop Street stand. Pre bus stop days of course and the days when Field Mill was complete.

We actually outnumbered the home supporters that day in a whopping crowd of 6,736. That's how the Mansfield public used to support their local side. How times have changed these past few seasons.

The all important away followings standings don't lie chaps, 2nd and have been for a while now. Put that down to Strange Luke and his entertaining football. Shouldn't be that surprised.

Wimbledon away end holds 1200 so i'd like to think you'd get that after selling that many. Good going.

Our tickets for Sutton away on Tues 13th Feb goes on sale tomorrow. 1250 allocation and still think we'd sell them out as well. We have a good London red based fan group down there.

We were absolutely fucking robbed that night. Asamoah dragged down while through on goal then the fella who should have been red carded scored. I’m over it mind.

I was also in the side stand that evening, glad it didn’t collapse on me

I thought he was class for us too, 10 goals in 112 off the wing after a quick check…Must have been his style of play, direct runner who was exciting to watch. Remarkably still playing as well.
