No, I was responding to your assertion that there were 'a few' plastic fans there, when there were way more. I never said 50% walked out.
This whole ' plastic ' fan thing is nonsense really.
What it generally means is that teams are watching a winning/ successful team so more go through the gate. We had 12,000 twice in 2013 against Burton and Northampton, Burton bought maybe 650 , Cobblers 1200. Yet last season we had 9000 in 2 succesive homes v Blades and Bolton, both brought 4500 and were big games. Don't get me wrong i'm not for a minute suggesting Vale could get 12'000 on a regular basis but the point remains the same, people want to watch winners.
And if Lincolns gates have gone up 400 % then fair play to them, we all strive to get better and have bigger gates .
Of all the away games i have been this season their support was the most raucous and impressive both noise wise and as a spectacle.
I sure hope Vale can attract a few plastics if ever we have another good season.

A few?! It was 50% of the support there! 2 years ago you were getting 2,500 in the conference, now you're drawing 8,500 every week? That's some of the best bandwagoning I've ever seen.
To be fair, they'll be a decent amount of lapsed fans who have come back as well, not to mention 2,000 in the family area which has been a hugely successful community initiative that really kicked in, in the weeks leading up to the Cowleys arrival. The latter is certainly something that deserves praise than ridicule.

I think this'll end up being like the playoff race last year. A number of teams falling over themselves desperately trying to miss out on the top three

If ours is on, I doubt they'll be many of the 3,800 who have a ticket there. All major roads around Lincoln are currently blocked or closed.

We don't seem overly concerned. I went round to the ground yesterday while out for a walk to admire the snow. The pitch is covered in snow and there was some piece of kit in the middle of it that I presume was involved with heating it. I think snow is actually supposed to insulate it against the cold pretty well.

The concern would be whether or not Grimsby have difficulty getting here, Grimsby to Carlisle is a hell of trek given both places are in the north and cross-country trips are always more likely to fall foul of the weather.

We have a pitch inspection at 10am tomorrow. I'd be amazed if the game was on the way it's coming down at the moment and is due to continue.

I'll be amazed if more than 3 or 4 games are given the go ahead tbh. Nowadays it's not just the state of the pitches but rather the conditions outside the grounds.

Read Crewe are due to take a look tomorrow too, though one of our supporters who lives up that way reckons it won't be as bad Saturday.

Hopefully Barnet make an early decision on our game as imagine we will travel down tomorrow and some fans have hotels.

Pitch isnt the issue in most of these games it will be the surrounds.

Exactly mate, we're being warned to drive only if it's a necessary journey.

Thats it so imagine they will all look at the surrounds, look at the forecast, see its going to get above freezing until 12PM Satursday when it maybe pops just over by a degree or two and call it all off tomorrow across the board.

Cant see clubs gambling by holding out until Saturday morning to inspect as that would be unfair on the fans and the teams travelling the day before in these conditions.

Im not too far from Coventry and the snow isnt too bad here and dare say their pitch isn't an issue (undersoil?) but can see the rest all being called off tomorrow.

Like everywhere else, we had snow in the last 3 days and it's been well below freezing since. Been slightly warmer today(only -2 during) and the streets and pavements have cleared up significantly. But the surrounding areas will probably be dangerous, including the approaches, car parks, around the perimeter of the stadium etc. Plus, if the pitch is even slightly frozen, it's barely climbing above freezing in the next 48 hours.

If it's playable tomorrow at midday, it'll be playable at 3pm on Saturday. And vice versa. But for me, this is a formality, it'll be off.

We've escaped the worst of it here, with more easterly or south western areas bearing the brunt. They're already working on clearing access to the stadium and are confident the pitch will be fine, so I think the only thing that will cause a postponement will be travelling conditions from Grimsby.

Not sure about our game with Cambridge. Where I am, between Luton and Cambridge pretty much, its snowed for the best part of the last 2 days but rather strangely hasn't really settled at all on the ground in any sizeable amount like youve seen on TV reports elsewhere. Pretty icey out there driving about though, but snow wise its not actually been all that bad i dont think.

Cambridge tend to have a decent pitch as well so wouldnt be surprised if the pitch is good to go but the ice around the ground will do for the game.

We're doing an inspection tomorrow - it's not that bad out there at the moment, but meant to get a lot worse overnight. Our game with Notts won't be on, I'm sure of it.

I think we’ve ‘inadvertently’ taken the covers off so the Yeovil game is called off! Injuries and manager upheaval would benefit from a week off.

Inspection tomorrow

There's very little snow around and little or nothing in the forecast. The pitch should be fine whilst the covers are on. Unfortunately, temperatures are set to stay below zero until saturday afternoon and may struggle to get above zero even then.

It should be possible for the approaches and terraces to be made safe but I'm not sure how the pitch will behave once the covers are taken off.

We'll know if it's off after tomorrow afternoon's inspection but there must be a remaining chance of a problem if it's given a provisional go ahead and we get unexpected snow or temperatures take even a small dip.

Planning on either a really good match or an afternoon in a village pub with some Luton mates.

Barnet are holding a pitch inspection at lunch tomorrow to see if our game goes ahead.
