30 shots on goal against 6. 10 on target against 3.
Like I said at half time, the goal was given and the reef pointing back to the centre. But Grimsby players made a fuss and it was overturned. That never happens to us, we are just too nice.
One of those freak results that happens once a season. Happy Christmas
It's not like the offside was a close call, it was absolutely blatant. We'd have been robbed if that was given. Not to say that we've been as clean as a whistle this season, we've been more fortunate with decisions than usual. But today was one of those days where we defended like our lives depended on it and got our rewards for it. There's two sides to the game and we did ours better than you did yours. As you say, it's one of those days and I doubt you'll come up against a better defensive performance all season.

Doesn’t bother me what Mansfield do as a club. Historically you are a pimple on football’s backside. Every dog has his day - this season may be yours. Certainly I’ll enjoy watching Flitcroft fuck it up - but that’s nothing to do with your club.

I’d imagine in 5 or 10 years time you’ll be where you are now.

Haha, you miserable bastard :fish:

Another “once big and important” syndrome coming on I think. From being in the premiership to getting excited about maybe having the better of a draw at lowly Mansfield town.

Ouch

We are very sorry for questioning an illegal goal. I suppose we should just never appeal anything ever again.

That’s because you’ve never been good. And I don’t mean League 2 good , I mean actually good. Once you’ve experienced one of the top two divisions in English football then you’ll understand. But you get all giddy with automatics in L2 I fully understand

Maybe ask........ errrmmm some of your Forest supporting mates . Football began before the mid 90 son, look it up :fish:

I'd like to see the 'offside' again. From reports on our website there was a Grimsby player standing on the line. So why did the Lino not raise hIs flag immediately? What conversation could have taken place. There were a couple of definite handballs in the second half. God knows why they weren't given.
You aren't better than us, you are luckier. At least today.
Probably because there's more use in dogshit than the linesmen in this league and he needed to be reminded of the offside rule. The player that scored was practically behind the goal when the ball was played. There's not even an argument to be had. The fact he didn't flag immediately was frankly abysmal.

At no point did I say we are better than you but today we defended better than you attacked. Get over it. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I always thought there was no point, I constantly hear that there's no point appealing a decision as you won't change it.
But I'm wrong, clearly I wasn't bargaining on the weakness of League Two refs.
Lol where on earth do you hear that.

As previously said, you’ve had 30 shots today. A correctly ruled out goal isn’t the reason you lost today.

Swindon were excellent defensively and tactically got it spot on whilst we weren't really at the races. Draw a fair result. Not quite sure why Swindon hate DF mind. In the playoffs with him, slated him and happy to see him leave and now sat in midtable.

We were glad to see the back of him. His waffling pressers using his own buzzwords, the dreadful hoofball, his ‘never my fault’ bleating, the falling out with and ostracising players. He would never have got us up - much like how he really fucked up with you last season.

You look likely at the moment, but I still expect him to blow it.

Swindon manager spitting his dummy out over something said to him by our fans and coming into the crowd. Fucking helmet

Swindon impressed me with how quick they were to close us down when we had the ball today. We certainly weren’t at it and that would be one of the poorer performances at home this season but still a clean sheet so some positives to take.

Our style of football has been the best I’ve ever witnessed by Stags. By far too.

You're right. The failure to award us a penalty or flag for offside as your player was going down for your penalty cost us. I don't know why i bother when the officials are that bad.
No, here is the reason you lost today:

McKeown is the best keeper in the league, seen him pull off some incredible saves.

We were rubbish today for 60 minutes. Poor decision making, poor passes, we looked tired.

Their goal was from a breakaway, we didn't track back properly.

Second half we got the free kick, then it clicked. Chucked on a couple of fresh players and Akinde got the winner - it was a classic Akinde finish where he sort of bundles it in.

We do need to strengthen in January as we're looking a bit thin.

Wait, are you saying the player who won our penalty was offside? Because he certainly wasn't. From what I can tell the referee got the majority of the key decisions correct which is bloody good going at this level. I'm with you on bemoaning the absolute crap standard in officiating in this league but you need to rest assured that the ref didn't cost you the game today. Let's move on, I'm sure you'll soon get a dodgy penalty or three to make up for it.

Reading Exeter’s forum one of the few posters on there who talks any sense (seems most of them are complete fuck-wits) said the header through came off an Exeter player so therefore it can’t be offside, most of them on there are still trying to blame the ref and linesmen for the defeat for correctly disallowing their goal, conveniently forgetting that the ‘bent ref who the FA should be investigating’ also sent off one of our own players leaving us 40+ mins to play with 10 men. Absolute clowns.

You have got to be amused by football fans that come out with this shite. Why people can’t just accept defeat and have to dig up some absolute horse shit like this really doesn’t do football fans any favours at all.

I think we are playing Exeter soon, I wonder if their fans are going to travel on the supporters wambulance

Both us and Northampton were really poor. We were clinical with our opportunities, but looked fragile in various areas of the pitch. We were fairly comfortable for 70 mins or so, but then it all collapsed and Northampton wanted it more than us after we took Aneke off. Draw probably fair at the end of the day. Two mediocre sides today, nobody particularly stood out for either side. Thank god we have our first choice CB back for the next game.

I see Denzil has deleted his posts to me and Clarkey so I guess he’s watched it back and realised he was wrong on everything.
Firstly Exeter’s disallowed goal is well offside, he needs to go to Specsavers if he thinks it’s not, and secondly the ball through that we win our pen from comes off Exeter no.27’s shoulder so therefore it can’t be offside, and Rose is not past the last man anyway so even so it wouldn’t be offside anyway.
Apart from those 3 things he was spot on.

You’re right. We only have ourselves to blame as we can’t defend well enough. The foul for the penalty was so naive from our centre back. No need to grab hold of him in that position.

Taylor also bemoaned the fact that a number of our shots were at a savable height for McKeown, and said we need to be far more clinical in those situations. Taking nothing away from McKweown though, it was a top performance.

No real complaints from me, just one of them games. We now need to bounce back at Swindon on NYD.

Take nothing away from it, you deserved the 3 points and then some. It’s definitely the most one-sided game I’ve seen/heard from us in my lifetime. We were incredibly lucky but I think we deserve some luck after our start to the season.

On the subject of McKeown, I was sceptical about offering a 3-year deal in the summer. Whilst he’d kept us in a few games last year, he still hadn’t really kicked in on other areas and had a mistake in him. But this season he has found another level. By far the best shot stopper in the league and if he carries on in this form, we may end up losing him at the end of the season.

If you try to watch the game with a more neutral head on, most of the contentious decisions the referees make are correct to be fair. It snowballs too though, so as soon as everyone is up in arms about something they think was wrong (often when it wasn't), they all start going mental over little things straight afterwards that were also correct as they're already riled up now and are incorrectly feeling hard done by. Happens every game.

I doubt it. You'd ask for a sizeable fee no doubt and nobody is paying hefty money for a keeper that will be 30 next year and has never played higher than L2.

I also question the validity of Grimsby fans claims that your keeper is the best in the division. What is it based on, besides your own bias? He doesn't lead the league in any of the major categories from what I can see. Tell me why he's a better keeper than say, Lee Nicholls at MK Dons. Nicholls has more clean sheets, conceded less goals, a better save percentage. So can you explain your opinion?

McKeown is decent in that he does seem to make a lot of spectacular saves, but I'm sure he also seems more prone to a howler than most goalkeepers too.

Getting ridiculous now 26 points at home which is comparable to the top 3 in the league and only 5 points away from, comfortabley the worst in the league. We’ve even already played most the top teams at home already Lincoln, Mk, Mansfield and Bury.
