Didn’t disgrace ourselves. Considering Beech played a lot of the youngsters, 1-0 was a reasonable result.

What is plain to see from these first 2 games however, is that goals are going to be extremely hard to come by. Perhaps Clough will make a difference to that when he returns, but so far it ain’t looking promising.

Sounded like a decent effort from us against a L1 team but lacking a finisher which we knew already. Should really put 10 men away but apparently Crewe defended really well.

Played really well, but lacked that cutting edge.
Apart from Sterry hitting the bar,we only had half chances.
Crewe we’re a big, strong side & Mandron changed the game for them attacking wise.
Not too disappointed ,it was two steps up in the level of opposition we’re used to.
Apparently we’ve signed Adi Yussef,he was sat with the Pools subs last night.

Well that was a hell of a smash & grab backs to the wall performance from our kids and fringe players, 11 changes from last saturday and everyone of them were outstanding, an early goal from timmy abraham was followed by a they shall not pass performance, townsend in goal put in a mom performance and young livermoor in midfield was superb and had a standing ovation off the ipswich fans when he was sub'd, but the highlight of the night for me was big kev getting sub'd the ref told him to leave the field quicker his reply was i've just played 80 mins i am 42 this is as quick as i can move.

It's sad that I am actually happy we only managed to concede due to an overhead kick, that's progress for us.

Well Sunderland must have used all there luck up for the season in that one match. They did nothing to deserve win that tie. All they did is kick and foul and time waste all 2nd half and the ref did nothing about it. Also the disallowed goal wasn't even a foul keepers get protected too much its a joke and the penalty decision is a farce as he clearly wins the ball, if you give that as a pen then you should really send the keeper off. The ref was nothing but a cheat he must still think Sunderland are a prem club giving them everything. One thing that sums up how bad the ref was the floodlights fail and all the crowd cheer and the ref didn't even realise till about a minute later.

Also I used to like Sunderland when they had phillips, quinn, arca ect. Now they can get stuffed benefiting from corrupt refs giving them every decision. In the fa cup game 3 years ago against them vale were denied a stonewall pen for a foul on hannant. In the football league trophy game back in January they were responsible for ending Tom popes football league career by being dirty twats and breaking popes arm and collar bone. This game they were garbage, time-wasting, diving hacking amoo down when he came on. They did nothing to deserve that victory.

We did have few forwards back in the team. Didn't go but sounded a good game, great turnout from you lot.
If anybody wants to beat us in a cup game just play for penalties. I think our record in shoot outs is 5 wins in about 30. We make the national team look good at them.

Oldham deserved it on the balance of play, we were poor in the first half. Both teams require strengthening/gelling if we're looking for any thought of the play offs this year, though. The Oldham pitch invasion after winning a penalty shootout in the first round of the league cup is in the top five funniest things I've ever seen at a game. Number one remains Joss Labadie
Can definitely be filed under the term ‘Tinpot’.
That being said, if it means our owner has to cough up for the resulting fine, I’m all for it.

Small mention for the brief pitch invasion when you scored though, crashing over the electronic hoardings and crushing one of your own players in the process.

Finally seen the highlights, Brizzle will be very unhappy with their defending for the last gasp equaliser, but from our POV the way we kept going and general spirit are very good signs.
