Not far from us either then we are still after a striker probably nothing in it though.
whoever it is it's been negotiated over the last few days - probably Wrexham or Stockport or Shrewsbury themselves. Rumoured to have a £150,000 buy out clause in his contract.

I cannot for the life of me see how he’s good enough for L1 but then I thought the same of him coming into this division and he did well. Would have thought Wrexham is a good shout.

Wrexham and Stockport are both money rich - could be either... or neither

£150k for a league 2 striker? Can’t see many being able to pay that at this point.

Was just thinking that can't see us doing it we rarely pay fees as it is I think your right and it's a money club who's got him.

im not convinced he's a league 2 striker either. 150k is incredible business if it's anywhere near that.

I’d have once been inclined to agree with you Soz but his record last season speaks for itself. I suspect there may be a more uncomfortable truth for a Vale perspective just that we had a substandard manager who was utterly clueless at how to get the best out of his players.

I’m still not seeing him in L1 but a decent player in this division will concede on that.

Stockport baught a L1 striker for £250,000 just before the NL transfer window closed
The moving closer to home part gets me. I know Barrow is a bit remote but its hardly the Shetland Islands and he only has to travel there for games. You train nearer to Shrewsbury than you play home matches.

yeah - i'm guessing money is a major motivation, although he could travel to Stockport and back for home games on a Saturday from Shrewsbury, whilst he'd have a Friday and possibly Saturday night in Barrow for home games here.

Didn't he make about 5 starts for Vale? He was crap here for his first handful of games, but found his feet and was brilliant.

Has games where he misses easy chances, but makes so many chances for himself too. He'd have done that in League 1, but clearly just wanted the money Stockport are chucking around. The excuse about being closer to home is nonsense.

Been away for a while so haven’t commented on our business till now. Pleased with our 3 signing so far, particularly Clough, he’s precisely the type of player we’ve been missing, although wasn’t expecting us to get someone of his quality in. Think we need 2 or 3 more to make sure we have enough quality to stay away from trouble. A forward, a defender who can cover left side of centre back/full back and a goalkeeper to compete with Norman.

Of the departures, disappointed but not surprised to lose Bennett, we’ll struggle to get better than him, but apparently Morgan Feeney has potential if he stays fit. Farman I’m not too bothered about as i said before he left Norman is younger and we originally signed him as the number 1 till he got injured and Farman got in. Zanzala I’m annoyed about. Genuinely think he’s capable of 20 a season in this league, to refuse to give him the 2 year deal he wanted is a mistake in my opinion. The club obviously disagree so we’ll see who ends up right. Patrick I liked but he’s replaceable.

According to Nigel Clough Rhys Oates was offered a package that was overall 40% higher, it’s rumoured to be a big spending tinpot club in the conference.

Stockport offered £800 a week more than you did

It's been terrible since the play offs, no feel good factor pushed by the club, key players leaving, not enough support for DC. I'm sure he wanted Bennett. He must be tearing his hair out.

It's sapped the energy out of everyone, the playoff final win was such a high and the club was riding a wave to now being beat to players by Sutton, I dunno if it's us offering peanuts or we just aren't prepared to spend big on players but it's a bit crushing at the minute.

I can guarantee they're working on deals but for fuck sake feed us a crumb of something.
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but this sounds all too familiar to when we went up and you lot signed Toto and Podge off us.

Shame Oates didn’t turn out to be the money grabbing whore that he was made out to be.
