We had no inns and 1 out.

So I think we are going to use the Grimsby template of using our cup money on summer signings for a promotion push!

Seems to have worked for Grimsby!!
Rest assured, we still have lots of cup money left and will be continuing to put together a promotion push team in the next window. Quite whether that will be a L2 or NL promotion push remains to be seen.

I honestly didn't expect Kirk to sign but I get the feeling he's gambling on himself in these next few months. I have a feeling Artell offered him a long term deal too because he absolutely loves him. But money isn't the most important thing to Charlie right now. He's had a fat pay off and an awful time personally since he left us. So he clearly wants to play where he's settled. I think the COR money and Colkett going meant we're probably paying him better money than others who offered him a deal but I think Charlie didn't fancy another relocation or a long term commitment to a League Two side. I think he wants to get himself back into League One this Summer whether that's potentially with us if we go up or another club, and we were in the best position to offer him that compared to Tranmere and Grimsby.

Great to see Crewe Officially Going For It™, would be absolutely superb if you pipped one of the faves to an auto spot. Crewe is definitely the decision that makes sense for Kirk too, think he's made the right choice there.

Crewe have smelt blood in the automatic promotion places recently and they've gone for it. Fair play to them.

All wanting to cash in on the annual Mansfield bottling extravaganza.

A lot on here are salivating at the thought.

At least if it happens us Staggies are used to it!

Delighted with Kirk coming home. It might take a while for him to get his fitness and confidence back but we know what he's capable of.

We were in for Ronan Darcy of Crawley as well. Not sure what killed that but maybe we can revisit it in the summer.
Darcy? I'm surprised Crawley would be open to that given he's appeared in 27 games for them and only signed a 2 year deal last summer. Doesn't seem like a player they'd be willing to move unless we offered a sizeable fee, which we never do.

I dunno the details, but a deal was close.

Looks like McGarry has spilled the beans about Darcy. We were definitely prepared to pay some kind of fee this window as we were close to Finnigan and he would have cost a fee too.

It must do your head in happening every single year though?
After watching you Boxing Day i was 99% certain you were going up this year yet now I see you as about a 50/50 shot due to your current form and past fuck ups.

Bit early to say it’s gunna happen yet, Wrexham and Stockport will probably have a sticky patch too you know. Still only lost three times all season. Things change very quickly in football, look at us after beating Stockport! If it was not for a inept referee we probably would have won at Wimbledon.

I’m not saying it won’t happen, I always sort of expect it but I think some may be getting carried away.

But yeah it does do my head in but also I’m numb to it, we do feel a bit cursed.

It's really just Mansfield doing Mansfield things.

Sadly for us Pies Mansfield things also includes beating their Nottinghamshire neighbours on a very frequent basis.

I actually think this season will be different for a change, I believe the top 3 now will end up being the top 3.

I don’t think we will, Mansfield would find a way to finish 2nd in a 1 horse race  ,

Stockport have just had their sticky patch, haven't they? Two wins and ten points from an eight-game spell before the last two games.

We've had a couple of sticky patches, back to back. In fact we are still very much in it. We need Part-Time Stu to the rescue.

Fair play to the club for aiming high.

Yeah you could definitely argue that, I think they will win the league but at the same time a drop in form can come anytime. Nothing surprises me in L2, even a very rare Notts win at Field Mill.
I think 2nd and 3rd are up for grabs for a few sides.

Yeah we had a run of three wins from thirteen, thankfully anyone who comes close turns out to be allergic to top spot. With our best players coming back from injury I don't see us repeating that form.

I’d like to think we’ve had our stickiest patch and no one took advantage.

Also luckily had a good few cup games in that spell.

That would not surprise me either, but nor would a few dodgey results and another team go on a big run in the other direction.

We had a sticky patch at the start of the season. Possibly another this month as we have 20 million away games to get through but if we're top 3 after that we'll finish comfortably in the promotion spots.

For me, I think it's just 3rd up for grabs unless we get some horrific luck with injuries beyond our current crisis.

I can see why teams are less confident with Mansfield, considering recent form, plus being behind Wrexham and Stockport in the table. I’m definitely lacking a bit of confidence myself after recent results but I do think we are good enough and will only have ourselves to blame if we don’t get automatic.

I think the fact the transfer window once again shows the other two are in a different universe to every other side in the division when it comes the monetary side of things too, that weighs heavy on peoples opinions - and rightly so!

I think you're good enough too, you're just doing a bit of a job on yourselves at the moment. Think it's fair to say you're less likely than Stockport and Wrexham, but that was apparent before a ball was kicked. We've done what we needed to do in the window, strengthened while keeping the best keeper in the league on loan and tying down 2 key players on longer deals.

I'd still have Mansfield favourites to go up with us but I'd be concerned about MK Dons if I were you. They won't like me saying this but I feel Crewe and Barrow will fall away as I don't feel they have the strength in depth to keep up. Anyone below the top 6 is going to have to go on a mad run to get in the top 3, not out of the question but no one looks strong enough to manage it in my view.

We brought in a load of young loanees and signed a loanee on a permanent deal who Salford didn’t want. Our window was the opposite of money bags.

In fact we actually made a profit on transfer fees by selling Joe Lewis.
