Poor Dartford Dave. Plenty of skill and technique but had the footballing intelligence of a pub player. Still set up or played a massive part in two of my favourite ever Millwall goals, though (both in the 2009 play-offs).

I know... he's "played" for us too.

Somebody put this video together of all Jabo's goals at Carlisle, a glimpse of what Cambridge fans can expect.

Won't post the link cos it's from The S*n but there are a few murmurs (and I reckon it's bullshit) that we're gonna sign Wes Brown (as in THE Wes Brown). I hope this is bullshit as I detest the bloke but the link suggested he's looking at a player-coach role with us. Again, I really can't see it being true but we'll see what becomes of it...

More logically though, we're expected to sign an experienced striker at some point this week. All I know is it's not Nicky Maynard.

Looks very good in the air. Licking my lips with Dunk and Mingoia supplying Jabo.

The Wes Brown story is one of the oddest things I've read. Can only assume The Sun picked our name out of a hat for the story.

The Nicky Maynard story was always bullshit. Started on one of those random Twitter accounts a couple of months ago and our fans gave it traction cos he's an ex player. We've got Dagnall doing the job Maynard would do, at a fraction of the wage too.

I love Nicky Maynard but I'm not convinced that signing him would be a good idea anyway. A load of our fans seem to be convinced that he'd score 40 goals for us in this division but they're clearly incapable of accepting that he isn't close to being the player he used to be. I think Artell has got more sense than that.

How come you detest Wes Brown, TNO?

I do not mind the thought of Wes Brown as a player coach, so long as he is aware that he won't play every week it could be good for the young lads. Not sure Nicky would be a good idea, cracking player for us once upon a time but the lad has been really unlucky with injuries which has curtailed his career to a degree.

Cambridge fans I have heard one or two things linking us to Corr. Hoping its not true, any things from your end about him making an exit?

His knee's are shot to pieces from two major op's on them. He recovered from this and come back towards the end of the season and scored a few goals but tore his groin twice which was very frustrating.

I've heard we've offered him a new deal but on significantly reduced terms so I would imagine he will be on the move, especially as we've just signed Jabo Ibehre.

If you can keep him fit, he will guarantee you 15 goals.

At least, he's the best striker in the division when he's fit, the problem being he's played 31 games for us over two seasons, and only 7 since January 2016. Bloke is made of glass, he's worth a shot on a low base salary with high performance incentives, which it sounds like is what we've offered him, anything more would be a very, very big gamble.

Same reason I hate Scholes, Giggs, the Neville brothers et al. But that's the Woolyback in me. In all seriousness though it's a petty hatred and he won't sign for us anyway so we can laugh that strange rumour off.

Maynard's 2 goals in 31 games last season are a sign we should avoid him. People say Dagnall had a massive goal drought at Hibernian but they failed to look at the context of both players.

Maynard has been a crock ever since a bad leg break for Bristol City 7 years ago. He's struggled to hold a regular place for any club since and struggled to find his previous goalscoring form.

Dagnall played (and absolutely bossed it) in India, but the Indian game will lack the physicality of the English and Scottish games. Playing for Hibernian who were very top heavy up front anyway and with no preseason under his belt meant he was unfit to play every week, hence his woeful goalscoring record for them. We got him fit and playing in the right system and reaped rewards but he's nowhere near as injury prone as Nicky Maynard so we wouldn't be able to transform Maynard's fortunes like we have Dagnall's.

Did he even start many games for Hibs? I'm very happy with Dagnall and wouldn't want to see Maynard played ahead of him now.

Otis Khan has signed a new two year deal. This is incredibly good news as he was very impressive last season before his injury.

Quite fitting that the video starts with a celebration at our place. Think he's scored 4 or 5 goals against us in two seasons. Probably the best part of going into the Conference is not having to watch our defenders get humiliated by him again.

Had a spell on loan for us don't really remember him but granted it was the season we went down to the Conf.

I would imagine thats the Midfield done now just a Striker and Goalkeeper to go.

That's a quality signing,
Midfield and defence is incredibly strong for this Division, a striker and keeper and we are ready I suspect

Ive previously highlighted Rheadys first touch which is brilliant, but Lincoln will resort to lumping it to him this year, they did it last season and will again.
There you go all lumps into Rhead to score our 80+ goals last season...

I counted 11 Rhead punts. Also, that is an insane amount of goals from corners (or maybe its that we've scored from about 5 corners in two seasons).

We'll do it the mansfield way.... and just scrape third if were incredibly lucky.

Happy with the signings compared to what we usually get... but it will take time to gel and all these players need to actually produce their best and have a bit of luck. It will be a tough season for every team.

Touch at 2:55 is quality though, I miss him.

I think Mansfield can make the playoffs this year. All depends how quick Evans can get them to gel.
More worried about County to be honest think they'll have a good season.

I don't think Mansfield will win the league. Too many new players bed in will mean they'll lack a bit of consistency and will have a dip at some point which will blow their title hopes. I think they'll get top 3 though, probably 3rd.
