Collins, Hylton and Marriott is streets ahead of any other striking options in the division.

My skiver will be lumping on Looun.

Think Luton are recruiting really well fair play to them arent Collins and Hylton quite similar in style though??

That's okay, Hylton will be missing half the season suspended once they bring in retrospective bans for diving!

Jon Flatt confirmed on a season-long loan from Wolves.

I like this signing, he didn't put a foot wrong when he came in at the back end of 15/16 and he knows the club inside out.

We finally have a number 1 keeper.

Brad Walker is stalling on a new deal here because he's being courted by errm Morecambe.

Oh the joys of being a non league nobody.

If we sign Collins I can't see Marriott getting too much playing time or hanging about that much longer to be honest, especially if we have had offers, as we have been led to believe, already. It's debatebale as to whether Vassell is better now in any case.

I feel like I'm being a massive downer and being boringly repetitive (let's face it - I am!) but I dont think this signing is needed really. Good player though Collins undoubtedly is I just don't see the point in spending this much when we have 2 promising young strikers that this will take games off and we have a far bigger area of need in midfield that needs filling.

Genuinely believe if Crawley sell Collins then they're looking at being favourites for 24th if they don't replace him...

They still have Dean Cox. He's a class player who'd get in a lot of League 1 teams.

We've completed two signings, Blair Turgott as reported by the Daily Mail/Sky Sports yesterday and Joe Martin from Millwall.
Decent solid pro is Joe Martin. A bit dicey against pace and has a bit of a habit of picking up cards for daft challenges, but brave as they come and never let us down. Seems to be a nice lad too.
Probably the right decision to let him go as Championship is a bit too unforgiving for fullbacks vulnerable to pace, but will be plenty good enough for league two and would do a job in league one if Stevenage make it up there.

Pleased with Knott signing. Like Ginnelly, we should see a better player with a full pre-season behind him having come to us on the back of a two month lay-off last season.

A one year deal makes sense. Gills will presumably be topping up his wages here after his mutual termination and any second year would have been expensive for us, particularly if it didn't work out.

When I say not work out, I mean that I don't see Knott in a 4-4-2 as we play it so it'll require a change in shape for us to see the best of him in my opinion. To accommodate him, I think you have to play him in a midfield three or 'in behind' but that's where Rhead played last season.

Obviously a good player and pleased to have him, but we/he will have to tweak things to see the best of him.

Olly Lancashire, centre back supposed to be signing today. Another experienced lower league defender, much needed!

More than likely but he has played a fair amount for both Walsall and Rochdale and we are in league 2 so I'm not expecting us to go for players like Varan or Stones. Someone who can get the ball out of our box quick smart is what is required.

We've signed Bonham on loan from Brentford until January.

I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed. Not by Bonham himself who may prove to be a class keeper but by the fact we have a loanee keeper, and not even a full-season loan. Having a loanee keeper in the first half of last season caused Luton problems when they were unable to extend the loan for the second half, and we all remember the problems we had in goal when we were relegated from League One, despite some of the loanees being individually brilliant (Amos, Pickford), it's just not the position where I would want to see someone not invested in the club who could leave at any moment. I can just see that if we continue to defend poorly and allow our opponents a free reign in our penalty box a loanee will decide he's had enough with trying more easily than a contracted player would.

Bonham is our first signing of the summer too despite the need for us to fill a huge number of gaps, and I have this fear he'll also be our last signing.

Can't argue. The reality of being a League 2 club.

I can see where you're coming from. From the outside looking in, it just looks like you're stockpiling good strikers. That didn't work out for you in the Conference, if memory serves me right. Didn't you try and get all 3/4 of them in the team at the same time? It just messes up the balance.

Our problem wasn't that we couldn't extend the loan. We had Walton on a season loan. The problem was that his parent club, Brighton, recalled him from his loan as they had injury problems. You're right about the consequences. A replacement in our case a young inexperienced goalkeeper, was chucked into the pressures of the play offs making game changing errors. Our manager gambled and it proved to be a costly mistake. I don't think Nathan Jones will make that same mistake again. In fact he is looking at a second goalkeeper on a permanent contract. Outfield players can be replaced far easier or formations can be changed but a goalkeeper is such a key position that you need to get it right.

Our interest in signing Wes Brown appears to have cooled after the player failed to turn up for initial talks with Dave Artell and Kenny Lunt.

Doesn't surprise me one bit and I'd rather look elsewhere given his lack of fitness of late.
Plus he's shite, one of the worst players ever to don the famous skyblue.
Stay well clear of him, there are so many young decent defenders about, give them a go

As expected Bucko has signed for Burton. He was never going to sign for Notts County, he's far too good for this level.

We've taken Calvin Davies on trial after he was released by Portsmouth. We've got 3 left backs but no right back so I suppose it makes sense.

Watched him 3 times last season. Poor player. Another relegation on the cards for the Vale lads.

Jesus I hope he goes. The Titanic not only turns quicker it jumps higher as well.
I am not one for slaging off players just because they are leaving but is has really been shite every single time I've seen him, some Bury fans however seem to like him!!!!
