County have today signed Goalkeeper Tom King from Millwall on a two year deal. This would indicate, as expected, that Goalie Joe Day will be on his way after 4 - 5 years with County.

We're about to announce a signing, our 2nd. Hopefully this one gets better reviews that our first.

Daniel Powell signs from Northampton on a 2 year deal. Better signing than I'd expected, I think he perfectly suits our formation, and he's got decent pedigree. Qué Northampton fans telling us hes garbage.

Sounds like a typical lower league winger with no consistency. Northampton offered him a new deal so he's not completely off the scrap heap. Plenty of experience at this level and above. Can't complain tbh.

Sam Russell signed a new contract so that’s McKeown with Russell as back up.

I doubt if there’s a stronger goalkeeping set up in league 2.

Just a shame the defence, midfield and attack is about 20th in the league. Really need some quality in soon otherwise it’s going to be another long season.

With Powell coming in I'm guessing Bowery is signing elsewhere, I'd be pretty happy with that though, probably a slight upgrade. But I'd say we still need another option through the middle. As I see Powell playing a more wide role.

Can’t see us signing another forward player now. We should though, Reilly isn’t good enough.

Even if he was, you can't go into a season with 2 strikers, that's insane. Lose either him or Porter to injury and you're buggered. What I also don't get it this idea that 3 is enough as well. Yes, if you operate a 4-3-3 all season long, you only need 3. But say the 4-3-3 loses it's effectiveness and we need to switch it to a 2 up top system. Suddenly the lack of centre forwards becomes a big issue. We're potentially about to watch Bowery, Miller and Nicholls go and our solution is to replace them with 1 player, a winger at that? I do hope another forward is coming in.

As for Powell, I'll take it. Production and fitness seems a bit disappointing, but I don't think it's the worst signing. I'll take 5-10 good games from him next season.

Known as Marmite for much of his time here. 80% of the time he doesn't seem to have the ball under any form of control but will suddenly 'stumble' through three or four challenges and slam the ball past the keeper. He was a great impact sub against tiring defenders as he does like to run straight at the opposition (literally). I wish him well - he's a thoroughly nice young man.

1 good game in 5 for Daniel Powell. You’ll come away some weeks thinking where the fuck is that version regularly

FAO Crewe fans, we're being linked with Ben Garrett. We need a new no. 1 with Lewis Ward going back to Reading.

Any good?

Seen a few bits saying we’re going shit or bust this year and it’ll all end in tears. We’re probably still spending less than we were this time last year as we released 8 (mostly high earners) and got rid of Crooks and Van Veen in Jan for money. So no reason to think we’re throwing loads of money at it, we’re just investing early. Martin, Lines, Watson and Warburton were all January targets as well so Curle knew who he wanted to go for pretty much straight away.

Like a lot of keepers, he'll cost you a few goals with howlers, but he'll also win you several games. He's a solid keeper for this level, still got the potential to play higher if a good goalie coach can iron out his flaws. Only 25, so plenty of time to improve. Would be a decent signing for you guys.

Like Firthy said, this is the description of most lower league players. I'll take 9-10 games of him doing the business. Chip in with 5-10 goals and 5-10 assists, that'll do me. Hope we haven't broken the bank to get him in, we still need another striker and a couple of extra players(maybe loans) to pad out the depth.

I don’t think it’s anything to do with you doing business early. I think it’s more to do with the Calibre of players you have recruited.

I don’t think you’re in the SOB category (like Mansfield) last season. You’re just spending some of the good fees you have received but you are definitely throwing money about to be signing Nicky Adams etc.

He's alright, but hasn't really improved over the last few years. He had the potential to play much higher, now I'm not so sure he ever will. He tends to play either very well, or very poorly, the games at Vale and Macc last season summed him up.

Spending less than before perhaps, but those signings on your crowds still aren't anywhere near sustainable so yeah you're definitely Officially Going For It™.

He still has more good games than bad, by quite a margin imo. The spell around that Macc game was pretty awful but it was his only bad spell last season. That said, it was probably what made his mind up to look elsewhere, we just don't invest enough in keepers.

As already said, a good bit of coaching will do him good and he's still young enough to move up the leagues. You won't find many 25 year old keepers with close to 250 first team apps under their belt.

I think he'll be a cracking signing for anyone in this league and we're really gambling in letting him go so easily and relying on Jaaskalainen & Richards (still hoping we bring in a more experience man, even if on loan).

Seen in a few different places now that were set to sign Matt Green, very happy with that if true.

They'll all be on a decent wage though, and you aren't pulling in 30,000 every week. It's just a word of caution really because we've seen teams do this before and weren't you in financial trouble not too long ago?
