Big fan of any club in League Two that goes continental with their signings - usually leads to some form of crashing and burning so I look forward to seeing how County pan out.

League 2 is going hipster . County with their squadrons of obscure Dutchmen , Wimbledon with a random spaniard and we've got a dodgy Colombian . I love being back in the league :ds:

Raymond has really been on the beers tonight - basically just confirmed that we're signing Amevor, Snijders and Jenner, as well as former Crystal Palace midfielder Kyle de Silva, tomorrow.

I do like the sound of your Owner/Chairman.

The story was 3 potential new signings might be announced before the trip, only the 2 were announced though so whether that 3rd was him or not, and why it only turned out to be the 2 announced is a mystery.

The third signing wasn't CMS, it was Danny Green. Green is on the plane to Portugal and will sign subject to medical per the very reliably ITK Outlaws poster who has correctly pre-empted every transfer we've made so far this summer. Apparently we refused point blank to deal with MK Dons, Green had to negotiate having his contract with them mutually terminated before he could sign.

How can Notts County afford both Craig Mackail-Smith AND Jon Stead? The total wages that would cost probably makes up half of a few teams budget in this division.

I wouldn't have thought Jon Stead is on a great deal anymore to be honest

We signed 3 players from the island of Reunion under Chris Sutton.

I'm sorry but Stead is a fooking ace signing at this level (haha just seen my quote used above from Stagsnet)

Not a 20 a season man probably but his all round game is a cut above any other striker you'll see in L2 next season.

Are you forgetting Rakish is in League 2?

Understandable really given his Premier League class

If Stephens moves to AFCW I'll be more than a little disappointed.

Must admit that our 'going continental' experiments over the years have proven to be almost universally grim.
I can recall plenty of exotic sounding names, followed up by plenty of excruciating ability.

Cheers, I tend to avoid outlaws so appreciate someone picking through that mess for the actual information.

I don't know, I just see it as if the club are wanting to progress and move forward than we should be aiming to compete with clubs like you Wombles. Don't mean it as a slight to you lot, more as a disappointment at our ambition and aims.

Yeah and the Spaniard isn't Quesada, whoever he might be.

The going continental approach is the board trying to find something different. I think it could work with Moniz being foriegn, and having the backing of experienced coaches such as Dave Kevan and Pilks, they should be able to understand what we need to do to win games. The big question will be are they good enough, and do they fancy it

It's not really all that new though, when you think about it. Swansea effectively did this a few years ago on their rise up the leagues.

It may well work out for guys and best of luck if it does.

I think there will be no middle ground though it will either all click and you will be flying or completely fall apart.

Should be fun.

I wish Dave Doggett would get hammered and post on our message board! Sounds like a legend that County chairman.

If Stephens was a complete free agent then I would expect that he could negotiate with a lot of interested clubs, but because a club will have to pay a fee it will rule a lot of them out.

It didn't stop York coming in for Hyde, but I'd expect Stephens to go for more than he did. Maybe not a lot in the great scheme of things, but not a lot is still a lot for clubs with no pot to piss in.

He's not really a proper Colombian though, he's got a London accent.

We've signed Jamie Burrows, a 20 year old striker who came through Ranger's youth system, Sturrock has described him as "either smelly or Pele"

There's quite a lot of footage on YouTube of his time in Belgium and he looks decent enough from a technical perspective but he doesn't look the strongest despite being quite tall.

We do tend to play on the ground more than some teams so he may suit us but I do agree he's an underwhelming name.

However a 6 month deal wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if we get Hoskins too. Fisher as our sole recruit up top would be disappointing
I think if there's any team where Fisher would fit most it would be with you to be fair. Like others have said he's far too lightweight to lead the line for most league 2 clubs and I thought it was embarrassing that Paul Cox tried to use him as a target man. But he can finish better than most strikers at this level and is good on the ball, I personally think he could work as a "in the hole" player rather than a striker.

He's bloody quick! Looks a great signing if PS can get him more Pele than Smelly.
