Along with Billy Bodin, we also have Jennison Myrie-Williams, Toby Ajala and Ian McLoughlin on trial this week.

I recall JMW received an absolute slaughtering at The Mem whilst playing for Tranmere on loan from Bristol C*ty in 2008. It was literally non-stop and the songs were sung with such venom that he just crumbled and was hauled off in the first half.

He was in the L2 TotY for Port Vale a couple of years back though and is only 27, so if he's willing to get his head down he could prove to be exactly the type of winger we need.

As well as Billy Bodin (ex Torquay - Winger/Striker) we've announced our trialists as:

Jennison Myrie Williams (ex Port Vale winger)
Ian McGloughin (ex MK Dons keeper) and
Toby Ajala (ex Torquay winger)

JMW is the only one i'm altogether familiar with.

We had Toby Ajala for a bit. Looked decent enough in patches, but anything else he did pales into insignificance compared to this absolutely magnificent tackle. Legend.

Making 5 signings today. Lol.

3 foreigners and two for the future. Guessing Jenner, Snijders and Aborah/Demouge are the foreigners and the two youngsters are De Silva and Campbell

Jake Howells just tweeted "people know more about my life than I do", presumably in response to all the people tweeting him saying he is signing for Cambridge today.

And so the window's dullest transfer saga continues...

It's all very tedious, I hate this time of year. Howells is obviously leaving Luton and it seems pretty obvious he'll be joining us. The faffing around is probably some clause or the fee or some bollocks. I hate it, just want to get back to the football again.

When we played Tranmere in the match from hell end of last season Myrie-Williams was their best player by a mile, quick, direct and caused major problems.

Having said that he wasn't up against much and you have to question why he's had 10 clubs at his age.

I see what you're saying, but amongst the Grimsby/Tranmere discussion they've sort of been forgotten. A bit like FGR were sort of 'favourites' last year but the talk of them doing well this year is far quieter. I think they've made some smart signings (especially if Doe follows)

I'm not talking a Macclesfield-esque surprise like they were for most of last season, but as I say some are assuming its a two-horse race at most.
Eastleigh's problem is their defence. They concede far too many goals - around 50% more than you last season for example and had the 2nd worst defence in the top half of the league (61 with Gatehead on 62).

They score lots, which is fine, but when you come up against a half decent defence/better teams they still have that problem at the back. Scoring that many gets you to a point, but you have to mix it with a decent defence to push on that little bit further.

They finished only 4 points ahead of Macclesfield, who scored 60 (compared to Eastleigh's 87) and only conceded 46 (compared to their 61).

May have missed signings, but I've not seen anything to suggest they'll be better defensively this season.

Re: Eastleigh, completely agree about their defence. I think they were talking about signing Scott Doe of Daggers who is decent at L2 level, which might improve their defence a bit. Think Josh Payne is a huge improvement on Stanley/Pell too.

Interesting to see our trialists today, actually think I'm most interested by Toby Ajala, who seems to be rated quite highly by Torquay fans. Myrie-Williams I'm a bit undecided about, great at Port Vale in 2013 but seems he was dross at Scunthorpe last year and as mtfc says, he's had a number of clubs.

Michael Doyle, as expected, confirmed as a Pompey player on our local radio.

Good luck to him, very good holding midfielder but don't expect him to set up your attacks. Good signing for L2 id expect.

I need someone in time for the autumn, who's really quick around the garden picking up leaves as they fall. Will you take a booklet of Green Shield stamps for Lindon?

Poor Lindon, I really like his pace and commitment but he really does have no end product whatsoever. I think right now we might accept the Green Shield stamps just to manage our wage bill down to a more reasonable level.

We have signed Eddie Nolan, right back released by Scunny. Looks a decent signing, that.

We had Ajala on loan at our and we loved him for his effort and passion. Nice lad. Headless chicken though who can't cross. Very quick and will get to byline then pass it to the crowd. Ok ish in league 2.

Howells tweeting that today is probably a frustrated tweet that a deal has possibly fallen through with us. Another come get me plea me thinks.

Our local paper is quoting Allen as saying that Conor Clifford is back training with us today. Looks like we were waiting to get confirmation that Luisma was definitely leaving before bringing him back in. Hopefully we'll just sign him up now as he made a good impression when he came in on loan last year.

Orient have reached a mutual termination agreement with Darius Henderson I see. That'll be a huge load off their wage bill, which must be a relief for Orient fans.

He had two years left to run so I assume he's got somewhere else lined up, either in this league or the one above.

I assume he's been paid off though, so maybe still a lot of money spent.

Yeah, no way he's just walked away from £10k, especially cos I doubt he's got something as good as that lined up
