I'm seeing us linked with Portsmouths Ryley Towler. I see he spent some time at Grimsby a couple years ago, any thoughts guys?
Loan or buy? Towler was on loan to us for the first part of 22/23 and was excellent. Recalled by Bristol City then sold to Portsmouth. Hardly had a lookin this season but apparently put in a MOTM performance after the title had been sealed.

No idea, just a vague rumour I saw. Maybe nothing in it, although we will be on the lookout for a good CB

Clough said Anthony Hartigan got a few interested parties in L2 and will likely end up here or back at Barnet.

I imagine Callum Johnson will get picked up by a L2 side easily enough aswell.

Was classy in the NL. We were gutted when we couldn't extend his loan but then went and loaned Smith from Hull who was arguably even better. I would have said from Towler's time here and the fact he has played second and third tier football that he'd be an excellent signing for anyone at this level. He's quick, strong, alright on the ball and great in the air. He definitely benefited from being next to Waterfall though. One thing I loved about Towler was that he was a young loanee who came in and really gave a shit. Was always one of the first over clapping the fans regardless of result and seemed to genuinely enjoy winning matches for us.

Any other clubs actually doing anything yet or is it only Chesterfield?

Tbf we’ve been done for a few weeks longer than most. We won the title/promotion on 27th March, and in reality had it wrapped up a long time before that. So we’ve probably got a bit of a head start on other clubs in terms of transfers

The world’s least responsible Community Trust strikes again.

‘Hello Mr Treasurer, can we have a small fortune please to sign yet another old striker on a 2 year contract’? ‘

‘Yes by all means’.

‘What about those frost covers we were on about’? ‘It is cold in Chesterfield’.

‘Look, I’ve as I’ve told you a hundred times before, fuck off and have a whip-round on the internet’.

Do keep up sir. Community trust aren’t the majority stakeholders anymore.

Urgh are they twins? Twins freak me out. Who looks weirder the Kirk twins or those two oddballs at Notts County?

Madden may be old to be chucking a two year contract at, but he looked very good this season and I do reckon that's a pretty good signing for Chesterfield.

As anticipated, Chesterfield have got a fair bit of cash to splash about. Madden won't be coming for peanuts. Got to be among the early favourites as they'll have the promotion bounce too. I wish we'd have got in early on Madden to be honest, he's the perfect type for league 2. Clearly Chesterfield got in ages ago, probably when we were still trying to stay in league 1.

There’s no competition on who looks weirder. Them freaks at Notts are enough to give you nightmares.

FWI the Kirk’s aren’t twins, but these two might be..

Madden going to chesterfield was always happening, called that last week, though apparently it was claimed he didn’t fit their style!

I’d have certainly taken him if we’d have stopped down, but like stockport have done maybe league 1 above him. That’s a class signing however you look at it.

Are those biscuit tins still knocking around for collections out of interest? ;)

I'm not fussed about the 2 year deal but it's probably the only way we got it over the line. I'm really not sure what Grigg and Madden will look like season after next, but I guess worry about that later.

He's a good player and provided it doesn't get in the way of sorting the defense out which is vital to any success next season, it can't hurt having him around.

Madden is still a good player, McGoldrick was for us but not so much by January. When your legs to its impossible to be as good as you were and Madden could do another season or be shot it by September, you never quite know.
I don't think Stockport have released a single player over the last couple of seasons who's gone on to better things, they've usually wrung the best out of them and they go sideways or backwards. I'm hoping that the Croasdale rumour with us is untrue for that reason.

As a slight caveat, grigg was dreadful when we played against him a couple of years ago, so I can't imagine being 2/3 years older, with a stint in non league is going to improve him. They now need some legs around these players.

We've got legs around them up front. Mandeville, Dobra, Colclough, Berry, even Hobson and I imagine this Drummond lad all quick and full of running. It's the back line we need to sort out now. And get on the blower to Dychey to give us Tyrer for another year.

Wished we had signed Colclough when we had the opportunity a few seasons ago. Always rated him although he used to be a bit of a liability but assuming he has matured. I don't know much about the others but you'd imagine at least a couple will be able to make the step up.

Haha, he’s definitely not matured as a lad at Colclough’s local found out to his detriment a few months ago. Allegedly.

And yes, we’re no longer Community Trust Chesterfield, we are Oil Money Chesterfield.

If Coco stays out of HMP and Dobra doesn’t end up further up the pyramid we’ve got some real class out wide.

If buts and maybes at the mo
