No it's not impossible. The reason Berry and McGeehan (don't know enough about Carey and Plymouth) score loads is only down to the way Cambridge and Luton play. Not saying they're not that good, as they both are probably too talented for this level, but it helps a lot having our sides setting up the way they do.

Re. the amount of goals Cam and Luke got in 2016, I couldn't help but notice that both are on 10 this season, so that means that McGeehan only got 5 between Jan and May, with Berry only getting 4.
Carey shares the penalty duty with Jervis (though i think we were awarded only two all of last season). Last year he was on fire with the free kick taking (but not this plus with have Fox who can take them as well). I don't know about Berry and McGeehan, but last year Carey's real benefit was his creativity and assists. If he had not scored one goal he still would have earnt his corn.

Regarding Reid, he's a bit of a hero in these parts, and didn't he do well for Westley before? I do get the feeling we're looking to next season already as bringing back in yesterdays heroes isn't going to be keeping us up.

Watkins is probably closer to a midfielder than he is a striker, to be fair.

Probably bullshit, but someone has claimed that Luton are in for Luke Berry.

Dominic Gape who we had on loan from Southampton but went back when his loan finished last Tuesday has signed a 2&1/2 year deal. Fantastic news as i thought we'd seen the last of him even though Ainsworth was trying to extend the loan.

Alex Gilliead has returned to Newcastle. That might be just an admin thing and we're just not paying his wages until next Friday when we can use him again.

Sideways step for Berry and I don't think you would spend £2m+ on a player.

People have been saying he has been one of our better players recently but I'm just not seeing it. Just looks like he is being played out of position all the time to me and he hasn't really produced any end product in his time here. Must admit I don't get the urgency to get him back for the rest of the season that some seem to have.

I like it when people make up imaginary values for players. Yeah, I wouldn't sell Berry for less than 1.5/2 mil but that doesn't mean the club sees it my way. They probably won't turn down an offer of 300/400k.

They certainly wouldn't accept £400k for a midfielder on 15 goals in Jan and 2.5 years left on his contract.

And what makes you so sure SVH? I've supported this club long enough, and I believe you have too, to know that a lot of our players have moved on for much less than we thought we'd go for. I don't even want to name example of this, and will not go into this too much as I get upset.

btw, this happens at all lower league clubs so I'm not saying it's exclusive to us or anything.

Just my opinion that the club are financially sound where in previous years/deals we've been desperate for the money.

Jez had said we don't need to sell so this gives us the upper hand in negotiations if a club were to come in for Norris or Berry.

To add to that, both are on good contracts so another plus in negotiations.

We're the kings of undervaluing our own players. I can still remember selling Michael Duff to Burnley for £30k and a friendly, with Burnley. I mean who in God's name gives a shite about a friendly with Burnley. The only selling point of the game was Steve Cotterill coming back to Whaddon Road. As expected, it wasn't that well supported.

Football's moved on Vanni, if Kemar Roofe is worth £3m, then Berry, with 2.5 years left on his contract, is worth a lot more than 400k.

Club is in a financial position like it's never been before, the days of selling for whatever is offered are certainly not relevant at this point in our history.

I know we're in a good financial position, and have no immediate need to sell. I also said I wouldn't sell for less than 1.5/2 mil. My point was that it's not a good idea for fans to set the players values themselves as they'll only be let down massively when they discover that the actual transfer fee is nowhere near the figure they had in mind. If they get to know that is, as generally it's just a simple ''undislosed fee''.

Agreed, he obviously had ability but he was the ultimate version of Jones deciding "fuck it, he can play centre midfield can't he?" even though he's an attacking mid/winger who can't tackle and weighs about 8 stone soaking wet.

Sign some proper midfielders FFS and we might have a chance of turning our horrendous form around.

Jones singling out O'Donnell and Lee for the first goal today and then saying words to the effect of the same players keep making the same mistakes and it might be time to get ruthless in the transfer market. Those two out would be a start, yeah.

Not sure why it's taken him a year to realise those 2 aren't good enough to be honest!

Especially Lee who I believe he gave a new contract too. Should have been gone in the summer

Gary Liddle on his way to Carlisle by all accounts.
I seen a League Two team are wanting to sign him, and a few people on our board assumed it was us as we showed interest in the summer, but is there anything concrete to suggest it's us?

Edit: Never mind, just seen on our forum.

Yeah the new contract for Lee was absolutely baffling and that's not hindsight talking, would have no qualms if he never played for us again. O'Donnell has the physical attributes to be excellent and has a knack for getting in to great crossing positions. Unfortunately he can't kick a football very well and defensively is utterly brain dead, can't see him ever coming good and should be at absolute best back up here.

Might seem like a knee jerk but I hope Jones does go into the transfer market with a bit more conviction now, the squad needs an overhaul in certain areas, we aren't a million miles away but the weaknesses are glaring and need addressing. Defensive midfield and wing backs are the areas that need it most so it's good to see Jones seemingly highlight those in the post-match interview.

Just the word that was going round Pools today, I think his dad still watches us?
