On the assumption that Barnsley go up, ourselves and Bristol Rovers would be 4th and 5th in that table based on last season's followings, as we both averaged over 1,000. Plymouth weren't far behind either.

Swindon at less than 500 is pathetic. I'd have thought more people would have taken the opportunity to get out of the place for the day.

Last season's league 1 was very northern Eric.

I'd say 11 northern, 8 midlands, and 5 southern clubs, depending on your classification of where the midlands end and the north begins. You had no Carlisle or Hartlepool like trips among the northern ones either.

You must admit to being disappointed with your following away surely?

I'm amazed we had so many tbh. Let's be honest, it's difficult to motivate yourself to go when you're playing crap - and it's a fucking expensive day out.

I missed quite a few home games cos I just couldn't be arsed. It's easier to go when you've got a chance of promotion/play offs.

I noticed your home average dipped quite significantly below 7000 last season cos you blew up after Xmas. Same reason why our average is below 8000 this season.

What I found quite scary is how easy it is to get out of the habit of going.

Within 100 miles

Swindon - 3/23
Oxford - 11/23

100 - 150 miles away

Swindon - 7/23
Oxford - 5/23

150 - 200 miles away

Swindon - 10/23
Oxford - 3/23

Clubs more than 200 miles away

Swindon - 3/23
Oxford - 4/23

So for Oxford, half the division was within 100 miles. That's got to be helpful when it comes to followings.

Plus they were playing well and in contention all season.

Same as most clubs would do.

As ID says, we were mainly hopeless last season. My visit to Millwall last season included 90 minutes of watching 11 absolutely inept footballers failing to pass the ball to each other. On the pitch affects numbers off the pitch though clearly.

To answer your question, no I am not disappointed with my away following as it has no bearing on our league position come the end of the season. I was disappointed with finishing 16th however.

No it didn't.

Oxford home average last season 7,211

Swindon home average last season 7,490

Yours wasn't just below 8,000 and ours wasn't significantly below 7,000

And we did not "blow up after Xmas" either.

says 1,718 on Millwall's match report.

Which one is correct?

Well, I think you already know what me response is gonna be.

Our allocation was 2,200, and a day before the game, we had 250 left (not 500+). We'd sold 1550 four days before the game.

My figure came from our radio team, and I've seen it somewhere on Twitter.

It doesn't account towards anything, so it doesn't matter either way.

2k sell out at Grimsby on Saturday for us looks like a day in Cleethorpes is very appealing to our fans.

Has there been any mention of our 600+ to our two pre-season games in Spain recently?

Apparently we have already sold 1000+ for Southend on the first day (according to the Gills newsletter)

Fucking sore point.
I am away on holiday.
I fully intend to be a miserable bastard and totally ruin the holiday for the wife and kids and the other family coming with us.
That'll teach the the old strumpet to book holidays at the start of the season!!!

Southend away happens to be my birthday - local away game, should be good weather, good atmosphere likely, so you'd imagine I'd be going, right?

Wrong. Day out with the Grandparents. Bloody hell.

Unlike the plastic Gills fans above, I had no intention of going to Southend first game of the season because I was meant to be playing a gig, which has now been cancelled. I am now going to Southend #loyalsupporter

Guys, you aren't fooling anyone here. Everyone knows your 'holidays' involve 2 weeks in your caravans parked at the end of your drive (which you have tarmacced yourselves) :)
