It's almost as ridiculous as those that say Burslem is a shithole and a poor away day yet it's got exactly what you want from a decent one - ridiculous amount of pubs within a mile radius, plenty of places to eat all within 500 yards of each other, a bookies etc..

Not everyone wants that as an away day though. I know it's 'the done thing' to want an away trip to be all beer-fuelled and chip shops, but that's not for everyone.

I enjoyed Vale away this year, drank in Stoke which was an experience. Helped that I got there on the train for under a tenner

Never understood this complete and utter myth myself.

I've visited practically every town or city in the country on numerous occasions that has a Football League team in it, and I wouldn't even put Stoke-on-Trent in the top 20 in terms of weird fuckers that inhabit those places. It's just some strange obsession opposition fans like to say.

Not quite MK Dons or Northampton though is it? Wish we had a generic retail park with the same chain of restaurants and retail stores as about 300 other places.
I'm with you on this can't be doing with the modern retail away days. Chesterfield is a decent modern stadium for an away day but there aren't many, stadiums just of a motorway junction are usually the shittest. By the way I'm not a massive drinker, but like to have a look around somewhere with a bit of character I do like a trip to the bookies though.

Everywhere in the country has shithole areas and weird fuckers living there. On the other note forget judging burslem as an area and im not sure any sheff utd fan can slag another teams surrounding area off considering the area we play in but if were being told we can only go in one pub in the area then it hardly sounds appealing to head there.

On a normal day you'd have the crown etc available which is a great little pub it's purely the fact it's Sheffield United after recent troubles when you've come to town and vice versa. It all began after the Wolves game which made national news when it all kicked off and the local plod let the dogs loose on everyone.

It's a shame but recent events involving Sheff United, Barnsley and Wolves have taken the matter out of Vales hands unfortunately.

Issue is keeping the Blades fans on the car park etc and telling them where they can and can't go will only antagoise trouble further IMO.

There is fear that tomorrow will see a lot of trouble, Vale isn't a happy place at the moment and last week finally saw the fans turn on the players, a poor performance and result tomorrow mixed with gloating Blades won't go down to well as our dick heads will be out and with Stoke not playing I dare say as in the past they will have a few up there wanting to start off.

I am missing my first home game this season where I have been in the country purely because I can't be arsed to spunk 50 quid driving up to not be able to get a decent pint, have to watch us get shafted then have to be arsed getting back to the car with all the shit kicking off that's bound too. Spending it with the kids and wife and I rarely ever miss a home game that I can get too! Even went Crewe at home hours before my son was born last season and risked the wrath of the missus.

Such a shit time to be a Valiant at the moment. Depressing.

Can safely say I'll be avoiding it, getting banned now we've finally gone up would be not the wisest move. Anyway I'm well up for tommorrow just off to the boozer now to start the 5 day piss up, happy days.

Rumours that Rochdale fans outnumbered the home fans last night, can anybody confirm.......?

Did Bury take considerably more to Dale out of curiosity?
Over 2,000 in October if I remember correctly. Dales following last night was terrible, and that's not me being bitter, they are 1-0 up in a derby and don't even sing.

What does it matter, at least their club isn't one of the most inept in the country. £8M in debt and going down.

We aren't even taking 1,000 to Bolton. £26 for another nail in the coffin, a certain hammering and watch them win promotion in the process isn't my idea of a good night.

just seen the video of the vale fans kicking off over a flare hitting a kid or something.

Yes of course it hit a kid the next one hit a woman and the next one hit a disabled person. Many many objects were coming into our end too from that section.

About four or five flares/smoke bombs came into our end, one was thrown back but don't know if a kid was hit or not just went into the crowd so couldn't see but caused a reaction.

A) how on earth were they allowed to get them in considering everyone is searched going in.

B) the police and stewards spent more time videoing it rather than getting the cretins and nicking them.

Didn't see but if it wasn't burning I wouldn't! Just everyone around me piled down to the front when the first flare hit but again the club need to be better security wise. Can't even have a lid on a drink yet can get them in!

I know all clubs have them but considering the average size of the club, Port Vale seem to attract a lot more idiots than most clubs.
