Why Liverpool? Why?

Liverpool v big teams (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs)
- vs Man Utd (2 draws)
- vs Man City (1 win)
- vs Chelsea (1 win, 1 draw)
- vs Arsenal (2 wins)
- vs Spurs (1 win, 1 draw)

undefeated in all the derbies with 5 wins, 4 draws and NO losses.
Problem is we lose to teams like Bournmouth, Burnley, Leicester, Hull etc.

Many fans wonder why Liverpool cannot win an EPL title.

Been like this for 27 years tbh, we're all wondering why!

I think you're confused as to what constitutes a derby.

Make no mistake that you're in a camp here Pags! Many respected members of the Liverpool family regularly use the term "north west derby" for Liverpool-United.

I am of course firmly in the there are no derbies camp. Right now there's only me.

Including me. Liverpool v United is sort of a derby, despite there being 30 miles between them. The intense rivalry and the fact we're the two most successful English teams make sure that is the case. But a genuine derby is between two teams of the same city, or at least two teams that are geographically very close and share a mutual dislike (Newcastle & Sunderland for example). But Liverpool matches against City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs could never, in any way, be called derbies

Agreed regarding your last sentence.

I think this is actually more of a language thing than anything, but derby for me is the same city - period. And even then it's not necessarily a derby, for example West Ham vs Arsenal isn't a derby in my view, neither is Sunderland vs Newcastle. Obviously this takes nothing away from the rivalry between the latter mentioned teams, nor does it from Liverpool vs United.

Question though, obviously Liverpool and United are very close.* But based on the obvious rivalry, historically and politically, would you call Barca-Real a derby?

* I remember reading a funny article regarding that you english always hate those who are about 45 minutes away.

Not as much as Scandanvians,Scottish or Cockney Reds who think they know anything about English football let alone Liverpool as a city.
