Christ. Where do we go from here?
Surely Cooper can only be improved upon. One of the worst interviews I've heard from a manager after the game last night, and I include Dave Bayliss' effort from several years back. Am I right in understanding he basically admitted to having no game plan, and also that the Barrow squad had from Tuesday night until Saturday morning off? Barrow couldn't have tried any harder to lose that game if they were being paid to throw it.

Something has seemed strange with them all season. I’m not saying they should be promotion contenders or anything like that but with all the business they made in the summer such as Gotts they should be doing better than they have been.

One can but hope. All the excuses will come out when he gets appointed at his next League Two club.

Keith Curles trusty assistant Colin West was apparently at our game yesterday and we have Barrow next, so it could be happening................

Don't understand what is up with Barrow at all. Think they were largely unlucky last season (all those injury time goals against them, although managerial instability couldn't have helped), but can't explain their underperformance this season.

Maybe they will be better off with someone other than Cooper: in some regards he is a talented manager for this level, but he also gets stuck in a rut and his man-management skills seem questionable.

His personality was always to be questioned but his experience was what we needed at the time. Fuck knows what happens now. At least following Barrow is interesting.

Any early (generally silly) names been linked?

Must have someone lined up, sacking with what 9 game left?

Darren Edmondson and Jason Taylor as temp managers has got mentioned, and whilst they are possible as an interim measure i would doubt it for longer.
Keith Curle has been mentioned - but i think that was because of "The Terminator" post.
Simon Grayson and Jim Bentley have also been mentioned on twitter - but everything is just guesswork at the moment.

Surprised at Cooper leaving Barrow tbh. Doesn't look like they're in real danger of going down, although with the squad at his disposal expecting a bit better.

I bet Darren Edmondson has already put his name in. He’d probably been refreshing Barrow’s Twitter all morning.

The guy was about to spontaneously combust with excitement on Radio Cumbria last weekend when a fan called in saying Cooper should be sacked. Edmondson must have got him to repeat it about 5 times. “So just to be clear, you think the club need to change manager” he asked. He was also a quick to mention the things he’d do differently. He might as well have announced on air that he wants Cooper’s job.

From the end of September our form has been woeful, but there was always the feeling that we were underperforming and it would come good. The players are individually much better than last season, so it's hard to know what is wrong.

I probably wouldn't have sacked until today either, but at the same time it feels too late.

He'll blame the training facilities and he'll moan about having players like Zanzala thrust upon him, but the truth is he's failed to get a relatively decent squad to play as a cohesive unit for nearly 12 months.

Can't see it being Edmo (certainly not permanently), as he was out of his depth in the division below. Nice bloke though.

Curle sounds like the most realistic suggestion, but I think it'll more likely be someone like Sam Ricketts.

Curle would be a wise choice. He’d get you back to basics and will definitely pick up the points required to stay clear. Then come the summer he’d boot some of the wasters out then sign Gary Liddle and Nicky Adams.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Right decision by Barrow they were gone with Cooper.

His style and approach is just not want you need in a relegation scrap, he would keep tip tapping all the way to the conference.

They need some passion, fight and battle. Ignoring the ‘Cumbrian derby’ aspect they had an enormous 6 pointer home game yesterday and were flat.

The bigger issue now is just who do you get in for a short-term burst, think Barrow missed boat when Adams was sacked.

Maybe barrow could now borrow Simpson for a few weeks so we can get rid of Stevenage.

He's definitely sign Hallam Hope

Barrow's xG is mid table and this goes along with people who've seen them saying they look alright. I only saw them in the goalless draw up at BP and there they didn't look like ever scoring, certainly they look like they should be doing better but have been poorly managed and lack quality in key areas with strikers you can't score. Farman looked dodgy on Saturday too, both the goals we scored were from shots that are barely worth anything in xG, decent hits from our guys put it just out of his reach but not the sort of things you expect to score from.

Oh…

I think Barrow may just have chosen to give up their league status.

Why have Barrow done that? Brown hasn’t been good for ages.

Can’t wait to see what attire he’s wearing on Saturday - his clobber at Southend last season was sight for sore eyes.

That, along with everything I've seen as an outsider occasionally looking in over the past couple of years, says to me that the problem at Barrow is not so much with the players (whatever their flaws), nor so much with the manager (ditto), as it is with those who appoint the managers.

FFS at least Sol Campbell did heroic work keeping Macclesfield up, really against the odds.

I'm sure Barrow can't be the easiest place to recruit managers to (geography), but c'mon

He looks like he's just come back from a weekend bender in Benidorm.
