I think they'd both be steadying influences for Swindon who look to have all the makings of a big club capable of dropping into the NL based on the back of the second half of last season.
To be fair you could say the same about us.

If MK do hilariously sack Williamson surely the Danish lads will be sending Maynard out to pick up the lunchtime sandwiches and then change locks to his office while he’s gone.

I'm not sure Maynard will wring the best out of them but I do think we'll recruit better this summer, defence and keeper surely can't go backwards from this season and with interested owners who keep putting money in I'd be horrified if we go down next season.
The Dons would be mad to get rid of Williamson without giving him a pre-season.

We won't sack Williamson. The only time we've ever sacked a manager from memory is when we've been in the relegation zone of League 1. All our play off managers got either the next season, or got poached that summer.

He's a consistently good manager, they're pretty thin on the ground.
Yep was gutted when he left us for Bolton......he’s only going further up in his career though...zero chance of him going backwards and the fans need to remember how bad the team was prior to 2020/21, crazy to be calling for him to be sacked.

If DC had stuck around I’d have had Cheltenham top 7 he is that good a manager at this level. Think DC had said before he needed their ambition to match his own and as is always the case with him he wasn’t bluffing when he said that. Pretty certain he’ll have his fair share of suitors very quickly.

Deserves to stay in League One so could see him getting a gig there if one of the bottom half sides boot their manager early doors.

Genuinely think we're in danger of a double relegation now. Complete turmoil behind the scenes with key players and now the manager jumping ship. We have a bunch of amateurs running the club who just sit idly by and do NOTHING above the bare minimum.

I'm not as negative as you, but I'm more concerned than I was.

Apparently he's off for a new opportunity (my guess is Barnsley) and a new DOF and head coach are to be announced in the coming days.

Seems that this has been going on behind the scenes for a few weeks now.

Barnsley would be a cracking job for DC and well deserved to have a go at it.

If your director of football turns out to be flitcroft then you can safely join in with the double relegation crowd.

At least any new player would “align with the clubs values” among all his other David Brent speak even if he ends up stone useless on the pitch like some of the dross he brought in for us.

Think he has a family business outside of football though so would expect he’ll focus on that for the foreseeable at least until the memory of our shite couple of seasons fades away.

There are a couple of decent L2 managers about currently. Derek Adams and Jon Coleman whether you like their style or not both have achieved a lot at this level.

Although yes both have also failed at this level but still done more than a lot of other managers constantly given another go

That is my big worry.

It's definitely not Mickey Moore - that's one thing I have been told. But Flitcroft really worries me.

the lads a fraud, we said that to vale fans when they took him on. Obviously no joy in being correct in these circumstances but stay well away.

Time to worry if you then go and get Lee Johnson as manager. Think that guy has been bombed out of everywhere he’s been.

To be fair to Flickers first 18 months was pretty good!

I can't believe I'm typing this, but his record everywhere but Fleetwood isn't all that bad.

He's a bellend of the highest order, but he's done well for periods wherever he's been.

I feel dirty now.

I've had some time to think about it and whilst I'm not happy about Gary Johnson, I'm not overly disappointed in Clarke going.

I don't think he's said a positive thing about the club since being appointed in September and, whilst we are a shitshow, he has to take some of the responsibility.

We were a mess when he came in, and he got us fighting for survival, but towards the end of the season he seemed to be angling for an out. The training pitch was useless, the players aren't good enough, we have to give opportunities to players who are evidently not good enough in the hope they over-perform. It was excuse after excuse after excuse.

I loved that he spoke his mind, and he really gave us hope of safety, but to be honest, we were shit in the last 6 weeks of the season and he's as culpable for that as anyone.

He was like that here towards the end tbf though he was shafted a bit just before he left sold around a million quids worth of players and was given 50k out of it and asked to get us up.

Still believe Darrell Clarke will manage Mansfield at some point, that’s a good move for him at Barnsley, close enough for him to move back to Ladybrook Estate in sunny Mansfield :bg:
