I don't care if people think this is tinpot or not (doesn't seem tinpot to me, the improvement to our previously abysmal catering has to be applauded) I want a Chilli beef pie.

Village Bakery stuff is generally very nice though.

Never had a steak and stilton pie? Classic combo that. Hot chilli beef would probably go down best though. Village bakery products aren't generally that good really. The bread items they do aren't great, but I do have one of their steak pies every now and then and that's fairly solid. Good idea this though, particularly if they can get it in regular shops too.

Chesterfield did something similar when they moved into their new Stadium IIRC. All the pies, sausage rolls etc were locally sourced and were far better than the standard footy food.

I wish we'd do that at our place, but the start-up costs would be ridiculous because we've out-sourced catering in the ground for years. I'd much rather pay £3/£3.50 for a proper, local pie than a Pukka, although I rarely eat at home games anyway.

Not banned, just not for sale. When the red meat ban came into being Dale said that he didn't care if people brought food including meat to games, only that the club wouldn't be selling any. I will be taking bacon butties to the lunchtime fixture against Lincoln, to sustain me during the game, needless to say that I won't be offering to share them with the Chairman.
