Halifax were evidently overwhelmed on Boxing Day when they came to Edgeley Park. It happens. I'm not sure turning up in cream suits and taking selfies in the ground helped their cause.

That was nothing to do with Stockport. They were still celebrating clinching the title back in August.

it's looking like there could be around 1,000 Barrow fans at Fylde tomorrow - that's about 10 times what Fylde brought to Barrow on boxing day.

Look at the league table. It's not hard to figure out why.
only issue with that is they brought about 75 to us last season on boxing day when they were up near the top of the table.

I thought it was only league one and two clubs that do the dick waving over attendances.
Nice to see it carries on here too :err:

I’m sure it goes on at NLN/S level and Southern/Northern Premier/Isthmian League level too!

It will be a different game tomorrow, they will be used to the mundane bi-weekly ground they play at. Score draw.

"Overwhelmed"? :fl: You again! Oh please, you'll understand why you're talking nonsense when you walk into The Shay tomorrow. :ds:

Fylde are one of the worst examples of a hobby club.

I was shocked at how little passion was in evidence for Fylde as a team, and that was up there in August. Just a pointless shitty project that needs to end
The same lack of vibe is evident at Forest Green. The fans were just going through the motions.:ds:

You only brought around 200 hundred to Pools Saturday & you are top of the league.

no - funny is being 20 places higher than you in the league table :woo::woo::woo:

No-one wins anything in December. My advice would be to calm down until May, we've been top this time of year plenty of times and look at us now.

Also worth noting that your points total so far would have had you in 5th place this time last year. Says everything about the league this year.

And your attendance, as league leaders, is shocking. Fylde are a vanity project with no real fan base. Barrow are an ex league team with no real sizeable club anywhere close, what's your excuse?

I'm hearing Stockport fans are bringing fatted calves to sacrifice to the God of Magnificent Football Stadia in the The Shay temple, this afternoon. How heartwarming is that! :ds:

tbf I do like the shay. Disappointing we're limited to 1,000 behind the goal

Serious answer - I find it disappointing that our attendances aren't higher even when we're absolutely bang average given how large Barrow and the Furness area is. As we are doing well at the moment hopefully that will entice some people to follow us in the long term.

What I've always found - and this will happen everywhere no doubt - is that people would much rather sit in a pub and spend the cost of a ticket on five pints watching football on the TV. 75% of football fans in the town support Man United or Liverpool. Prior to this season, I've found it astonishing that when I speak to people at work Barrow AFC just gets brushed off with the usual "I'm not paying £15 to watch that shit", and sometimes laugh when when their local club is down in the doldrums.

Granted the latter bit isn't happening so much anymore and the comments are "they're doing alright this season", but they still won't come and watch. They were the first on the bus to Sunderland and Middlesbrough a few years ago however.

Whatever happens to you this year, promotion or not, hopefully interest can start to grow. I look at our position and I do worry we will slowly turn into a side with the same issue. Local apathy is a real issue.

I like to poke fun at Chipmunx over the top reaction (although I get it) but I am quite enjoying Barrows season so far, it shows what can be achieved with decent management.

I'll be sick as a dog with jealousy if you go up though.

They’re also the type of people who bemoan that no one takes pride in their local community and that no one knows their neighbours nowadays.

AWESTRUCK Stockport fans in the ground 30 minutes early, to enjoy the majesty of The Shay Stadium:

10 minutes in and the Torquay fans are the biggest whingers i've seen in a long time. This is not going to be a good game.

Great. Dagnall sent off. Had a clear header abd should scored, put it straight at the keeper and then there was a scuffle. Ref consulted the lino and sent him off.
