Our 2 clowns are having a lie-in together but they've asked me to post their pre-match forecast for them:
"This is the sort ov game we should be winning but will probably lose then go on and beat Notts County on Tuesday. That's just us :dk: . It all depends on which Town turns up. If we're shit we'll lose but if we're brilliant we fancy us to get somefink. If we do lose, dont forget it will be because we were shit like we said we would be and because Pete Wild still hasn't learned his lesson we said he needed to learn. We fink vat's everyfink. See you after the match. Or maybe not."

Might be wrong but I can't ever remember us getting 3 points at Aldershot. Expect this to continue tomorrow. We will score but I have no confidence in keeping a clean sheet against anybody at the moment

Weve had two clean sheets in the last 4 games.

The over reaction to the Stockport result is getting a bit ridiculous.

Is there any brother club that doesn’t overreact to every single defeat in this league? I know we do at Meadow Lane. It’s as if every single loss in non-league football (especially if it’s to a tinpotter) somehow erodes/demeans us as a club a tiny bit more each time. To some people, at least.

Definitely. I dont know why it still bothers me, if we beat Aldershot then we will clearly be the best team in the league.

If we lose that one I'm just not logging onto the forum for a few weeks.

Get back to me when you've lost to Bamber Bridge, Rossendale Borough, Prescott Cables, Vauxhall Motors, Harrogate Railway, Newcastle Blue Star, Mossley, Radcliffe Borough and we'll talk a bit more about that if you like. :woot:

I wondered if it might have diminished for you guys after 13 years in this league but obviously not. We have a Facebook group, ‘Notts County Supporters’, that can be particularly reactionary. After the Alty defeat someone said Burchnall should have apologised to the away fans in his post-match interview. As if a manager should say sorry following every defeat.

Yes we have but mainly due other teams poor finishing. Dagenham should of had 4 or 5

Woking missed a sitter and should of had a stonewall pen.

The Stockport keeper made some great saves in the first half, would they have come back so strongly (or would we have been so poor in the second half) if we'd have gone in 2 or 3 nil up at half time? you can point to a lot of things that didn't happen.

I'm not saying we are amazing. We have issues tactically, and with squad depth, and generally our second half performances haven't been good enough. And we need to improve all that. But the reaction is over the top, you'd think we are getting battered every game by what some people are saying.

Conveniently ignoring the number of chances we missed ourselves against both. It's the National League, teams miss good chances.

Another in form team Alty come to us after we dispatched the in form team Solihull 5-1 last week. With Chesterfield losing in the week and not playing tomorrow it’s a great chance to get further ahead of them before two tough away games next week. We have a very difficult October, hopefully our small squad stays fit and suspension free. Balanta is now back in training but does not get in this team right now, which is a very bizarre scenario and a sign the current team are in form.

I’m sure you’re all dying to ask the age old question of ‘have Grimsby sold out this week yet?’

The answer is yes, yet again, the pull of another big name obviously too much to keep the crowds away

He was talking about keeping clean sheets, do you need pictures drawing or something?

I'm less impressed by that than I was initially as it seems your 'sell out' attendance is much less than I thought was the case.

Still, good stuff.

It is quite low, but considering over the last 20 years or so we have only ever sold out for Lincoln, Scunny and big cup games it's still impressive, especially as we have been relegated and home fans have increased so much.

Amazing what new owners improving the match day experience does and of course winning games.

I'm quietly confident about our game with Barnet, I don't understand what his problem is with me and ShayWay tbh. Don't think he liked that we called out the team for being consistently inconsistent last season and bottling the playoffs. The only time I've come away disappointed with a performance this season was Yeovil away on BT. Even when we lost to Maidenhead at home on the first day I wasn't concerned and said we'd win more than we would lose playing like that.

Every defeat to a tinpot club brings flashback childhood trauma from Grimsby Town 1 Gateshead 3 in the FA Cup Round 1 in about 1974 - the first cut by a tinpotter is always the deepest...
