If Steve Bruce gets anywhere near it I walk away from football for good.

A lot of media love in for Glen Hoddle. I wouldn't mind an Eddie Howe, Hoddle partnership but not on his own.

I think Eddie Howe has already said publicly that he's not interested in the job.

Beckham to take the job. We're running out of options. If Southgate or Bruce get it I'm done.

So did Southgate last time didn't he? Very limited options if we're sticking to an Englishman.

For a decent bung I'm sure that 'Arry would take it on.

Well the talk before Allardyce was that they wanted Southgate as interim and Wenger when his contract runs out at Arsenal. Obviously he's a good manager and would likely have the respect of the players, but if the mentality is wrong as it seemed in the Euros I don't know that he's the sort of manager to put that right.

After this Big Sam debacle, the FA need to appoint a manager that is honest, forthright and won't be embroiled in scandal...

As Howe said last time, he believes it's an older managers job and he likes day to day training ground coaching too much. Hopefully that and his inexperience at the top level keeps him out of it. I hope.

Greg Dyke (no longer involved but was until very recently) basically pointed every finger at Arsene Wenger this morning on R5live. "Doesn't have to be English, but does need extensive knowledge of English game having managed here for a suitable time" was what Dyke said. Also said "there were good names on the list last time who weren't necessarily available at the time, but may become available in the future"

When asked directly about Wenger Dyke said yes, he'd like him.

What would folks think about that possibility then?

If Glenn Hoddle gets the gig I too will be done with football!

With Football in general or only with the Three Lions?

Glenn Hoddle? Sounds not a good idea for me. Warmed up "cold coffee" doesn't taste anymore.

Harry Redknapp? Is he still alive ? ;) Tbh Years ago I really had thought that 'arry would be the right man. Nowadays? Nah

Arsene Wenger? That's an interesting idea. Although I don't like Arsenal (too many Germans in the team :D ) I respect him for his football knowledge.

@Big Sam: What've you done. Are you really that thick as a brick? Couldn't believe it when I read the story. For 400.000 pounds he threw all away. Got his dream job for 2 months, a payment of 3m pound but the greed is still there? Tragic. But I am sure some PL "hopeless" will hire you soon ;)

Anyone in contention will be carefully looking over their past history in terms of comments made I am sure - and being made aware of fake businessmen etc.

Wouldn't surprise me if Southgate does well that he gets the job full time.

I'd be happy with Southgate as interim manager until Wenger's contract runs out at Arsenal. I think he'd be much better suited international football than club football at this stage in his career and he knows the English game as good as anybody (but he'd obviously prefer to manage France over England).

Howe said outright this morning regarding England that he's "not interested", is "keen for the England stories to go away" and is "absolutely committed here".

No beating around the bush there.

Wish the FA would stop sniffing about for Eddie. Leave him alone he's ours.

I would prefer us to go foreign to be honest, when the gold standard here is Pardew and Steve Bruce then we should cast the net wider. personally I think Wenger would be a good shout to try and build something over a couple of years. He would lay some excellent foundations for the future of English football no doubt.
The downside of course, is that he doesn't strike me as the man to help players overcome psychological barriers, the way his teams collapse so routinely.

Given the FA influence who gets picked for the team, might as well give it to the FA chairman.

Give it to Rooney, then we don't have to play him

Really? Ralf Rangnick? Are you so desperate?

Actually he isn't coach anymore, he's sporting director at RB Leipzig. He quit coaching at Schalke due to Burnout Syndrome.

German online footy mag kicker.de reported that Rangnick doesn't want to leave his sporting director (or director of football as you may call it here) job at RB Leipzig now.

He quit coaching for nearly 4 years after his burnout syndrome and became sporting director of RB Leipzig. In 2015 he felt that he is fit again for coaching and took over the coaching job at RB Leipzig until the end of the season.

In the summer he applied for the vacant jobs in England and Belgium but the FA decided to give the job to an englishman, Sam Allardyce. So it seems the FA approached Rangnick now but he's now reluctant to leave his job at Leipzig, where they are flying high at the moment in their first season of Bundesliga football.
