Rather buzzing for this one. Would imagine the Imps have sold their 1500 tickets so should be a good crowd and atmosphere at San Sixfields.

From what I've seen of Lincoln last year they're pretty direct and physical, can't imagine that's changed with the signing of Akinde. Will be a big test for Pierre and Taylor but they're both big lumps so it could be an intriguing battle. If Crooks is still here I'd imagine he'd line up with O'Toole and McWilliams in midfield, but going forward I've no idea who'll play. Morais, Waters, Van Veen, Andy Williams could all get the nod up front and I expect Daniel Powell starts on the wing after he's had a very good pre season.

Fancy us to get a hard fought win, 1-0 sounds about right.

Up the Wobbs.

First set of away tickets sold out in 6 minutes- complete sell out as of Friday with over a week to go- 1440 I think is the final number.

Seems a few are planning to sit quietly in the home end due to no more away end tickets coming our way as well.

Going to be an interesting start to the season for both clubs- with Andrade, McCartan, Akinde, Wharton, O'Connor coming in then, having watched pre season, style will be different (Akinde is big but he is not an aerial target man).

Looking forward to next Saturday- a 1-0 away win at Scunthorpe today was just what was needed.

The first month is an early test for us, so it'd be nice to get off the mark quickly. I just hope we're not going to start the season with an October/November type of run where we try to change the system/style and suffer as a result. I'm hoping pre-season has been enough time to hit the ground running.

We played a back three today so whether that's in Cowleys thoughts or it was just a case of getting minutes into players, I'm not sure.

Last time we were at Sixfield's, it was in our relegation season I think and we lost 2-1. O'Keefe scored a peach and then, somehow, their player managed to better it a few minutes later.

Listening to post match interview, today's formation was a combination of getting some minutes into players, exploiting the opportunity of the latest signings (Wharton particularly) and giving different options for the season- or that could be all bluff for the NTFC scouts who were no doubt there today

Very tough start away at Sixfields, would take a point now. In fact it's a very tough opening run of games playing Northampton, Swindon, Notts, Exeter and Grimsby along with Bury.

We've gotta play them all at some point and there's a lot to be said for getting difficult games out of the way early before any team really get's into a stride.

Of course, football is often a confidence based game though, takes a team quite a while to recover if you get a slow start. Not that I am suggesting we will, but it's definitely a testing month or so.

Gotta play em all twice!
I doubt anyone will relish playing us either.
We've only got 19 players at the mo but they all deserve to start on Saturday from what I've seen of them but that's the manager's job to sort that out.
Take a draw but if we can nick a win with a set piece like Saturday even better.

And we haven’t got a keeper to throw the ball in his own net to salvage a point for you like last time!

Likewise the keeper who played for us in that game has left us and gone to Stevenage, in fact that was his last game for us.
Both keepers had poor games that day.

Fancy us to take 3 points from this one based upon very little. We have had a weird pre season, winning all our games (I think) but we didnt really play anyone great.

We have retained the majority of our squad from last year who were awful almost all the season, yet I am happy we have as I lay the majority of our problems at the door of Hasselbaink. Dean Austin clearly wants us to go for it and I think we have enough quality to push for top 3 this season.

Lincoln did well last year and look to have made some decent signings, I just fancy us to have a bit much for them but may be well off. Crooks, O'Toole and Pierre have been in the team of the year at this level before and are all at good ages so its not like we dont have the pedigree.

I think we will line up - Ward - Odoffin (if facey is out) Taylor, Pierre, Buchanan, Crooks, Mcwilliams, O'Toole, Hoskins, Powell, Williams in a 4-2-3-1. Could easily start with a 442 as we have done a lot in pre season though.

Expecting a good atmosphere with the away end sold out (good work on that by the way imps!)

Impish might be able to make this one as the Premier League doesn’t start for another week.

Been to both your grounds over the years but not this time.
We've never won at sixfields , our last away win was at the county ground way back in 1992, we won 2-0 including a worldie from David Clarke.

Considering we have basically the same squad with only a few additions we need a strong start. Most of these players were involved in losing horrendously week in and week out, losing becomes a habit so need to turn that around from the start!

So if we scored early could be interesting then?

I think that our manager build up enough good will in the 5 games or so he was in charge at the back end of last year that it wouldn't be horrendous. Hes straight talking and got the fans onside remarkably quickly so im not too concerned. But if the malaise continues over the first few games then I imagine the fans will start to lose interest quickly.

Agreed with Mr Sabin. I think as soon as Hasselbaink went that mentality left also.
