Just heard that Press Association will no longer be covering National League games so all those websites - BBC, Sky Sports, etc.. that we all use to get live scores during games and stats after games will no longer have them.

I guess that means everything from BBC website to Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports won't have live updates.

Will make Twitter updates and Fans Forums like this one more important for up to date info. Bit shit though.

That's horrid news. Suppose the flip side is, as you said, it'll make social media and forums pick up on this.

That's rubbish, especially from the BBC.

Any chance someone like Opta will pick up the slack? Believe they do it for Soccer Saturday these days.

Does this include Text on BBC channels? That's the way I always keep up to date. I can live without match reports but just the list of scores and scorers each game is helpful.

Don't know. Where do Opta get there live score updates from? Do they have someone at games like PA?

Assume so, pretty sure everything came from PA, it was automated and just updated all the different websites incl BBC.

Opta took over PL, Football League stats etc from PA a few years back, but I guess PA have still been doing the rest.

It's a costly business getting these live feeds of stats - paying someone to be at each match, describing the action in the most basic terms to someone in an office (also being paid) to collate it all. Then there'll be someone who collates all that and gets it to the relevant outlets.
There is a market for these stats though, so they'll still get done - betting companies are probably the biggest clients these days.

And seeing our scores live on tv was one of the minor perks I was looking forward to.

I don't think this is needed to be honest. All they need to do is check Twitter updates of the individual clubs and then put all this into a scores section. Like I stated previously, I don't need match reports that desperately, there are other means to find that, just a quick way to see all the scores and scorers by a few clicks of the remote control.

Try to make it to the vast majority of games anyway, plus they are all on the radio plus twitter/local media live feeds so following us hasn't been/wont be a problem.

Still pretty poor though, bit of a slap in the face for the league.

Does this mean the Sky Sports Score Centre app won't show the scores from around the conference during the game?

Would be a bit of an effort trolling through each club's Twitter account

This will affect almost every service you use to get live score updates from games. Pretty sure flashscores, fotmob, anything like that is all based on PA data. In the absence of someone to pick up the slack it's going to be limited to full time scores and keeping up with other games on social media.

This will probably also mean an end to the interesting graphs covering attack/defense as the reliable stats for shots on target etc will be gone.

I imagine some non-league score update social media accounts will start up to plug the gap somewhat. Personally I don't like FWP, though I can see it growing as a direct result of this. In the past I've found it slow to update, and sometimes inaccurate including incorrect scores (which are later corrected), maybe a larger userbase can fix those issues, though the website layout does leave a lot to be desired.

There is a really good alternative here - http://liveleaguetable.co.uk/

Worked very well in Conference North last year on Social Media. Provides all scores and a Live LeagueTable at FT and possibly HT too?

Bookmarked. Thanks.

I cam follow Wrexham when I'm not there through the live match thread on RP. And to some extent the rest of the league on here, but it's nice to have all the scores in one place.

Interesting one. Worth noting that Conference North and South were covered for scores by the PA, so that might be where the info came from for that one too?

I thought that but its completely fan run as far as I can work out with they getting updates fom Clubs twitter pages and collating it all together.

Here http://liveleaguetable.co.uk/about/ however it says they have "Implenmented a new system for 2016/17". Not sure what that is but I think its separate to PA?

So on the various apps we'll just end up with HT and FT scores like the Conference North/South do?

That's shit. Won't help my accumulator app live updating in real time.

Will the Scottish Lower Leagues still get full coverage on Soccer Saturday/Final Score etc?

Ridiculous if they do and the National League doesn't.

It is now seemingly going to be up to the home teams in each match to text live updates to the PA. Probably going to be a complete shambles, but should at least keep live score apps etc. going.

That'll be a reliable service given most National League clubs official twitter accounts are the height of competency...

I wonder where the bookies get their live feeds from? I always assumed PA and also assume that will continue. That's where I will look for live score info.

Ha, from my experience the PA/rare BBC guys etc. most of the time end up asking the clubs media people "Who was it that scored" anyway, so the rate of mistakes may not change. Who exactly at the clubs are responsible for the texting as of yet remains to be seen... One of the subs? Mascot? The person who takes the tops off your bottles of Fanta?
