Wrexham I think in the FA Trophy, then us in the league.

It sounds terribly patronising, and certainly isn't meant to be, but I really do feel for York fans now. At first, I was pleased they weren't doing well, as I had expected them to be a promotion rival, but this is just ridiculous. 32 away games, no wins, and I read the comments of a York fan on here the other day bemoaning how many times they have conceded in injury time...it's gone and happened again. Hope they get themselves out of the rut.

Having said all that, we've had it pretty damn awful ourselves over the last few years, not only with tedious non-football but successive relegations and failure to even make the playoffs at our lowest ever level. So I'm bloody delighted that we look half competent under MM. At least York fans have had a promotion or two to celebrate in the last decade, it's been 25 years since our last one. This season is a real chance for us, but the key to surviving as a Tranmere fan is never, ever get excited.

York, defensively, we're very very solid today, and completely nullified us. They gave us no time on the ball, no space, won the aerial battles and were first to most of the second balls. They did all that without resorting to niggly fouls and gamesmanship, so I feel a bit sorry for the York fans. They deserved a draw, and we won with pretty much the only shot we had on target.

Still, that's the type of game we'd have lost under Brabin.

Just seen the rerun of our winner, york left norwood unmarked in the area in the 93rd minute , plenty of time for players to get back too..... truely woeful.

If your not scoring and wanna stay up york you gotta learn how to defend and quickly

Good solid performance against a horribly limited Borehamwood. A seven man defence that never ventured out of the own half with the clear intention of a point and nothing else, they were scuppered when we actually scored, no wonder nobody goes to watch them. First goal was a great finish from a tight angle by Rendell, second a sublime finish from Kanu following a brilliant pass from McClure. We were solid and unspectacular, but what was important was getting back to winning ways after a terrible November.

I said did you got to home games during your teenage years when you never went away, not do you now.

Bit strange if you did go to home games but never went away, given you were technically playing away every week anyway.
Ah right I see, really didn't have many games pre-return home, no way to get to them see. 3 games in all, all at different grounds: Away against Woking, then one home each at Bourne Park and Homelands

They did the opposite at ours last week, totally underestimated us and set up for all out attack. We picked them off on the break and took our chances to win 3-1.

We dominated todays game v Chester but the Chester defence was excellent, we had plenty of near misses/half chances but very few clear cut chances. Danny East shot near the end was heading for the top corner with the keeper out of his goal, a Chester centre back threw himself across goal and got his head in the way! Terrific defending to be fair!

Comfortable win today against a very poor side. Maidstone offered very little going forward and we could have scored more, including an incredible goalmouth scramble that somehow didn't go in.

If Maidstone play like that for the rest of the season, they're in trouble.

Wow, top of the table. Jimmy Norwood 90+03. Won't last though because the last time Tranmere finished top of a table Adolf Hitler invaded Europe.

Dagenham just seem to pull a result out when you least expect it.

Bloody hell. A return of 0 points from Ferriby for Gateshead is a abysmal effort.Especially with the quality they have upfront. I get the impression they wont be sad to see them go. Serious problem with complacency there.

A point was certainly the most we deserved today, poor performance really and never got going but nobody can actually get the better of us at the moment. It is frustrating though as we got ourselves in to a good position through a top notch goal from Alabi, overhead kick. But the moment they equalised we settled for what we had. Ultimately the referee has cost us two points, he got the penalty wrong and has admitted as much, he apologised to McCarthy after the game.

Guiseley looked quite decent at times with some nice approach play but it usually ended in a terribly wayward effort on goal. They should have won this.

Sadly that sums up most of last season and this season. We been crying out for some half decent forwards for ages now....

I was behind the goal and it looked to me like Brown had his heel clipped by the chasing Chester player for the penalty?Too far away to see the claim up your end though.

I was far enough away from it but initial reaction was no penalty. I didn't think our claim was either.

I'm (unsurprisingly) joining the list of those commiserating York fans, terrible game but you deserved a point. I spend the occasional Tuesday night watching York at home when I can't be bothered going all the way back to Birkenhead and well... I feel your pain.

We do now have a great record against the top sides except the Barrow game. If we can get players back fit for the next 5 months and keep them fit we could be right up there come April. Very pleased at the half way point with our positiion, just have to look at York the poor sods.
