Just seen it myself and yes his first touch to create the opening was fantastic. Could do with getting this lads loan period extended

First half was not great, too slow in the build up, not helped by what I would class as systematic fouling by Gillingham. We've seen it before and it's a deliberate tactic to disrupt play and make the game disjointed. Fortunately, Thomas had their right back on toast and he was rightly dragged off before he was sent off. Having said that, Gillingham did ok in the first half, had a game plan and had another really good chance but a poor touch from mcdonald made it difficult.
Second half was as good as I have seen us for a while. We were basically all over Gillingham and could and probably should have scored 5 but for their keeper. Once we got the equaliser, only one team was going to win it.
Jones looks a real find. He's not always involved, but has that goalscorers instinct that you can't teach.
Strange comments by Edinburgh after the game, claiming the referee was influenced by 4500 fans and lots of decisions went against his team. I actually thought the ref was way too lenient and gave one of the Gillingham lads 3 warnings after a yellow card! he gives no credit to the fact that we were by far the better team second half and decisions or not we would have won the game. The ramblings of a man who is fast losing the faith of supporters I suspect.

That is the just the default excuse making for managers when they lose (even more so having taken the lead)....

Seen the pic of Jeromes leg with gashes and stud marks on it so can't see what complaint he can have? Every report or feedback I have heard is that they were lucky to escape with the bookings they got and Edinburgh tried the same tactic of trying to crock our wingers last season and had to haul the full back off at half
time then if i recall!

I've now come to the conclusion that Justin Edinburgh, along with being a toss player back in the day, has to be THE most deluded man in football.

What a weapon. I hope Gillingham go on to have a really shit season just because of that cretin.

Justin Edinburgh was one of those players who seemed to get through his career, at a good level, without ever actually doing anything or achieving anything and I suspect that is exactly how his managerial career will go as well.

aside from the win I felt like the support was getting more vocal than recently. I think the poor refereeing helped to get the crowd going though. Just hope the fine home form gets more bums on seats.

Pisses me off that we can't get at least another thousand on the gate. Don't the stay away supporters realise that would obviously benefit the club they're supposed to support and give us a better chance to succeed? That said, whenever we have had a big gate in recent memory we always seem to fuck up, so perhaps it's not such a bad thing that we're not playing in front of more people.

To be fair Jerome Thomas has always been a cheating little fuckwit anyway. Don't doubt we kicked him once or twice but he's a winger who's played in the top flight, and has learnt how to 'win' free-kicks along the way. Get a lot of that sort dropping to this level, and referees are so easily conned down here that they're bound to fall for it.

For me, we'd basically lost the game before we started anyway. Not having Jackson at right back meant that we'd have to have someone out of position there - and the only options we had were centre backs who can't really play there. We finished the game with what I would consider 1 of our first choice defence playing (and even that's debatable), of course we struggled.

Need a massive change in fortune soon.

In fairness we also had a centre-back at left back and two centre-halves who wouldn't have been in many people's starting 11 before a ball was kicked this season, while also missing our main man up front. We haven't had much luck as of yet on the injury front either.

Not every touch is a foul.

But some players do like to 'win' a free-kick by over-exaggerating contact. You can't deny that.

To be fair it's hard to contest the marks Jerome has all over his shin! Right mess.

Gillinghams tactics were vile, there's no getting away from that. I'm all for a side getting stuck in and being physical, but their full-backs abused Thomas from kick-off. Suppose at the end of the day it's a compliment to him and the side...

No, and I admitted we probably did kick him a couple of times. Just don't like the assumption that we're a dirty side I suppose, cause I know we aren't!

On yesterday's evidence that's quite simply BS.

Come on, you aren't playing that game are you? There was a 20 minute spell we had 5 or 6 decent chances to score, and I know that purely from twitter. Of course your highlights wouldn't show them - nor would anyone expect them to. I feel we had a slight case for handball when Cody was denied on the line, and your first looks borderline offside, but there we go.

No-one has said we were unlucky to lose, we all have accepted we didn't deserve anything.

Gillingham were the better side in the 1st half, that much was clear. Some of it was because they came with a plan that worked for them in the first 45, and also some because we were slow with our passing and poor in our movement, and played nothing like what we're capable of at Vale Park.

Second half we turned up and created enough chances to win three games of football. We had a bit of luck that we only went in 0-1 at half-time as 0-2 makes the second half completely different.

That really is an honest, unbiased assessment of the game.

Of course your highlights wouldn't show them -
You do realise that neither club has control over what highlights go in those packages? They are shot and produced by SkyBet.

Your club got given the same exact same video:

Don't know who he is but the Gills keeper made 2 cracking saves in those highlights - fair play to him.

And that touch from Jones to create the opening for his goal gets better each time you watch it

Jones has been a revelation. He's just a natural goal-scorer, someone that loves scoring goals. I'd probably give one of my nuts if it meant us singing him permanently.

Could be this seasons Armstrong. 5 goals in 6 apps now and seems a natural finisher. 2nd in scoring charts for league one but played far less minutes than Morris.

Fair enough. When I said 'your' I was referring to the Vale fan who posted them, but I see how it could've been misinterpreted so I should've made myself clearer!

I was more pointing out that 2 minutes worth of highlights of any game is likely to miss stuff out regardless, and that the sarcy comment about 'all our chances' from the Vale fan accompanying the video was perhaps a little bit misplaced.
