Game off.

Denied me my fun.

Possibly for the tinpot thread - the game "would have been on" but the high winds knackered our frost covers so parts were exposed to the elements last night.

Shots v Hartlepool now also off. Rearranged for Tuesday.

Was it ever realistically going to be on? I saw your Twitter updates saying they were confident but looking how it is here a few miles down the road, surely calling it off was the only decision. And that was before it started snowing again.

What have Dover got than anyone else hasn't?

Just more faith in the weather improving?

Only one game on in National North and South too atm.

Virtually no snow, it missed our little corner
this morning we had freezing rain, everything iced up thickly. Been snowing since about 1, not really hard though
tomorrow will be a balmy +4
pitch completely covered

i'm not as confident as the club. They seem to be banking on 6 degrees & a quick thaw.

No harm waiting til tomorrow to make final decision though

Fair to say these are the weekends we all wish we had 3G pitches.

Said nobody, ever.

Our game was postponed due to surrounding areas, the pitch is playable.

Game would still have been off on 3G

Indeed, whilst we were able to get our Surrey Senior Cup tie against Merthsam on last Tuesday, we could only have the main stand open. That's fine for an expected gate of 200 but not for one around 2000.

Sutton Common Rovers who also play at Gander Green Lane are expecting their home game to go ahead tomorrow however

I think possibly there was an element of Hartlepool having to travel through the worst of the conditions as well. Had it been a more local game there may have been every chance it could be played.

Dover might be alright, but absolutely nowhere on our route to Dover is. Imagine it’ll be a sub-200 away following if you force us to head down.

Yeah its not worth their players, officials and fans risking their lives for a football match, as frustrating as it is that is has been called off after so much work had gone in to ensuring it could go ahead.

You'd get more for a Tuesday night down there than you would in the current conditions I reckon.

Good luck to those walking up THE HILL.

I think you are including wind-chill in that figure. It was minus 12 here by that measurement.

Southern ponces.;)

No we (well Farnborough, but thats only 2 miles down the road) recorded the lowest temperature in the UK on Tuesday, at -11

I am not sure the temperature at The Rec can have fallen that low - these things tend to be quite localised - but fair play to your groundstaff regardless.

Do Chelsea help with your pitch ? It always seems in good condition.

Called our game off yesterday because Bromley wanted to travel up in advance. Certainly unplayable then but doubt it now.

Hopefully the game will survive, the forecast is looking better. I don't really want to go there midweek and if by some miracle we beat Gateshead in the trophy replay on Tuesday, we are facing a mini fixture pile up.

Having said that, JE has said that its been a struggle this week to do any real ball work due to all the snow, well, being everywhere. If we'd have been at home, the game would've 100% been off.

We threw away at three goal lead last week, despite playing well for 70mins. We threw away a three goal lead a month ago in the same competition..........at Dover after controlling virtually the whole second half.

If this is on, it won't be a classic. We're also due a loss.

Temperatures were down to -10 quite generally in Hampshire, I was out working in rescuing stranded drivers.

Other than paying to rent the pitch now, Chelsea give us zero help with the pitch, in fact our groundsman gives Chelsea advise on theirs, and for 2 days last week he was working on PSGs training pitches demonstrating some machinery he’s developed.

Meanwhile our groundsman was clearing the lines vs Wrexham as slow as he could as he thought if the game was called off the result would stand!

Our company sent home non-local staff yesterday due to pile ups on the M20 and other major routes through Kent. Should be better today, but still take care in places. Dover's own players will mostly be making the same journey as visiting fans, so credit to them for getting the game on.
