They are a footballing super power, honest! :ffs:
It did sound like Addison had a absolute stormer for them to be fair.
And we were missing a bunch of players.
To be honest the results in friendlies don't bother me much.
We beat Exeter 7-1 one year under Tinnion and a few months later got beaten by the same score by Swansea. It's all about fitness, then in the later ones, performance.

Having said that I was at a game a few years ago watching tomorrows opponents Manor Farm where they dominated the match, pelted the opposition with shots and lost 4-0. The opposition 'keeper must have made 15-20 saves while his team had 3 shots in the whole match- one of the goals being a cross that took a wicked deflection and looped over the goalkeeper.

Friendy games are 100% about match fitness and getting back up to speed for the start of the season. 0% about results.
So, you lose 8-0 to Kidderminster with your first team. You're not going to be concerned in the slightest?

Personally if I were a manager/coach I'd treat the last 2 friendlies more seriously- only use 3 subs (unless someone was blowing out of their arse, at risk of an injury or had played immensely) and put a little more weight on the result than the others to try and get a little momentum.
Otherwise I completely agree.

Of course there are 2 major flaws with this.
1. I will never be a coach/manager
2. Regardless of your attitude, the players know it is a friendly and this contributes to their performance in the game.

Normally couldn't give a toss about friendlies and don't bother, but am actually looking forward to tomorrows game.

Bristol Manor Farm are my second team in a way, when I couldn't afford to watch City I would go and watch Farm. Last year they walked their league (102 points in a 38 games season) and had 98 goals between just 4 players. And over the years I have some good memories including having a hand in getting the opposition manager sent off (grumpiest bloke I have ever seen, me and my Dad wound him up, then he went on a huge rant at the Lino over nothing) and (I like to think) tricking a goalkeeper into going the wrong way for a penalty)

We just got a massive 1-0 away win against.... Guernsey.

By all accounts their goalkeeper played the game of his life, other than a big mistake for our goal.
The twitter updates are almost all a variation of "Addison saves again"
Whenever anyone fails to beat a non-league team by 7 or more it's always "the keeper had the game of his life", we probably were just shit

Sounds like he genuinely did today.
Have a look at our Twitter and how many times they have said "Addison saves again"
That said, from some of the misses there was definitely an element of shitness.

I'm not expecting a 7+ goal win tomorrow, maybe 6-7+ goals in the game though. Something along the lines of 4-2.

If they were halfway through there season and and we just came back from the beach I wouldn't be too fazed if we lost heavily. On a level pegging though we would never lose 8-0 to Kidderminster though.

3-2 win at Chorley after being 2-0 down. It's just a fitness and training thing right? ;)

2-1 and 5-2 wins against QPR in what looked like very casual games at our training ground yesterday. We must have used over 30 players over the 180 mins from our first team and u23s.

Can't take much from it, but nice to see our 16 year old striker score four in the second game. May be the only time someone scores four past Smithies all season.

0-3 up at Manor Farm after 15 mins. Think they're the league below the conference south.

Slightly embarrassing to be honest as it's a community game. :sur:

2 below the conference south

Copy and pasted my brief summary I posted on OTIB

"First 10 minutes were pretty even.

City controlled play but did nothing.

Then a goal just like yesterdays against Guernsey and Farm collapsed.

City played very well, but Manor Farm also played the worst I have ever seen. They subbed their star player during the first half- he was being beaten to everything by Flint and when he did win something he was playing flicks and passes to where a teammate would normally be making a run if they were using their normal 4-3-3. Problem is that they weren't.

One team playing well and another playing badly, compounded with a 6 division gap equals an 11 goal rout.

IMO the only Manor Farm player to come away with any credit was Cox (number 7 I think, the bald guy with a beard).

Am genuinely surprised at the scoreline, but pleased with what I saw from City, albeit against inferior opposition."

Was 0-0 until the 10th minute and then 3 in 3 minutes.

What formation did we play then? I might go and watch us at Bath on Tuesday night.

Manor Farm were using a 4-4-2 but usually play a 4-3-3, so flick ons being made to a runner who wasn't there.

First half City had one up top I think, Freddie Hinds. He looked a decent prospect, would be happy for us to give him a start in the cup. He had Reid playing just behind, so think we were using a 4-2-3-1.
Second half we had McCoulsky, Patterson, De Girolamo and O'Dowda as the attacking players. All did well, De Girolamo, O'Dowda and McCoulsky all got 2 each I think, but De Girolamo could have done better. He was greedy and opted for shots when he could have played people into 1 on 1s. That said, it is nice having a midfielder who isn't afraid to shoot, unfortunately most didn't need saving.

Just won 5-0 at Alfreton, hit the post and bar about four times too, Rhodes scored twice in two minutes, got whacked in the face and had to go off, on the way leaving the field he was told his wife had gone into labour so eventful for him.

Drew 3-3 at Guiseley. Goals for Isgrove, Fryers and Moncur with 21 different players given a run out.

Beat Kidderminster Harriers 4-0 tonight with Nugent, Bryson, Martin and Bent in the goals.

It was also the new launch of our streaming service, we're showing all our games live on our website for pre-season free of charge, looked smart and it was surprisingly very professional. Oversea's fans will be able to watch every game on our website this season too.
As well as this service our owner has put on free travel for all our away pre season matches too which is a nice touch.

You were excellent. Played us off the park. All the very best for the season.

Cheers fella, wasn't there and we can't read too much into it.

Glad we managed to give 9 of our academy a run out at certain points.

We're streaming all of our friendlies on youtube, both are on tonight on our official channel. Nice gesture from the club.

Still not seen official confirmation, but looks like Rangers at Hillsborough on 30th July.
If their support is half as good and friendly as last time we played em, it will be a great occasion.
Not sure how strong as opponents they will be though for our final friendly, but still looking forward to this one.

I'd rather shit in my hands than pander to either side of the old firm, Rangers are the slightly less grotesque of the two mind. Looks like it'll ruin my Sunday session too as they take over Hillsborough corner with their sectarian bile.

Spot on mate. I have friends from both sides and enjoy talking to none of them when it comes to football.
