And the award for the most pessimistic poster goes to.............

If he had 23 & 24 the other way around then that would be have been worthy of the award. That only equates to throwing the rope over the beam.

I think if we don't finish in the top 7, we'll have another manager by this time next year. It will have been another failure with our resources. And despite the fact we've been relatively poor, we've not finished that far off in the last couple of seasons.

I think it would require a big fan revolt for 2020 to pull the trigger, they obviously believe in Jones as a long-term option and this will be his first full season in management. Obviously top 7 should be the minimum target but I think he will have a fair amount of lee-way with the board (the fans are another matter of course).

I was overlooked last season due to us actually not failing to play football for half a season.

I feel this season will be my time to shine again

 At your service

It'll be a long season so anything I can do to offer some light relief from the hoofball monotony.

I actually think Blackpool will have a decent season.

Matt, Philliskirk, Vassell, Redshaw & Cullen is a pretty good strikeforce at this level.

Shame only about 1,500 of the scummy shitbags will be there to see it.

Can't see Blackpool troubling the top 7 with the mess they're in off the pitch.

Some very good signings from the 'big' teams this year which I believe will make it slightly harder for the Accringtons of the league to push for the top 3. Portsmouth have to do it this year, if they get a good run going early they should run away with it (been said before I know...) and Orient will be really difficult to stop if they sort out the off the field issues even just a little bit.

As for us, we have to be getting play-offs at least, and looking at our ins and outs so far I think we're set to have a very interesting season. We've kept all of the good players from last time, released nearly everyone we wanted to be rid of and replaced them with much better players, with a number of previous promotion winners and former captains from this league. Top 3 for us hopefully.

I will predict Cheltenham top three along with Portsmouth and one other maybe Orient or Doncaster. Plymouth to make the play offs, Morecambe and Stevenage to be relegated.

Some people seem to be genuinely under estimating our team and our manager this season, hopefully it means we start under the radar but I would be astounded if we are not in the top seven or so this season.

I'll stick with what I said on the other thread
1 Portsmouth
2 Doncaster
3 Luton
-------------------
4 Leyton Orient
5 Plymouth
6 Cambridge
7 Carlisle
-----------------
23 Morecambe
24 Newport

For us, in terms of last season regulars we have lost Yiadom which is a blow but gained Nicholls, Watson and probably Akpa Akpro. Including the youth that were blooded last season we have a fairly big squad and have strengthened our attacking midfield\ striker options. Expecting a similar season to last year in that we fail to figure at either end of the table.

24. Newport

Some clear similarities with many of the above predictions, looking at who they've signed and the side they brought down with them, Doncaster do look the obvious choice to take the title this year, although this is by no means a foregone conclusion. Looking to Orient, I am always naturally pessimistic, especially regarding the last 2 years, but the quality on offer at Brisbane Road this season seriously is too good for this level: if we can't go up with this team we will be in this division for a long long time. Carlisle have also greatly impressed with their summer signings, and if they can keep the floods at bay should finish top-7 at a bare minimum (they looked decent last year too).

Cambridge should be good for a play off spot: teams that finish the prior season strongly and make decent acquisitions in the summer nearly always do very well, so cohesion and consistency will be key. Portsmouth, well I'm shocked they're STILL here, but last season they weren't anything special, but sheer size alone probably dictates they will be in the hunt. Ditto Luton, big budget that flopped last year (same as the Orient), but they may have learnt from past mistakes, would be surprised to see them finish blow 7th but who knows. Cheltenham, I don't know a great deal about them to be honest, but their fans seem confident and newly promoted teams often do well in League 2 (CC Bristol Rovers).

Morecambe and Newport are, I think many will agree, the obvious choices to send down.

I will most likely post a more in depth ''analysis'' of all 24 sides once we get into August and the picture looks a bit clearer.

I know he did well for you last season, I'm surprised you're that confident going into a higher division with Danny Wright upfront

Wright did really well last year but it's his striker partner Dan Holman who is the real star, we fended off league one clubs (Millwall and two others this summer), if he continue scoring he will make us a lot of money either in January or next summer.

There are a few big clubs who are making some great signings but this is one of the best Cheltenham teams I have ever seen and we have spent enough time in league two to see our team that will challenge for promotion. Keep an eye on Holman, Jack Munns, James Dayton and Dillon Phillips, all four are destined for higher leagues although Dils is on loan from Charlton the other three are contracted.

Honestly not a troll and I suspect most Cheltenham fans will also tell you we are quietly confident of a solid promotion push this season. Bristol Rovers finished third last season with a squad not as good as ours and we also have Gary Johnson as the ace in the pack. Both Gary and the chairman have been clear we want back to back promotions.

Well they aren't exactly going to say they want to be in a relegation battle are they... Odd to say Bristol Rovers had a worse squad than you do now when one of you has already been promoted out of the league, the other having only just been promoted into it. If what you say is the case then you must be absolute certainties to go up surely?

I'd say Bristol Rovers finished their conference season on a par with Cheltenham. Looking back the results in the second half of the season were almost identical

I was impressed with Holman whenever we played him while he was at Braintree, always looked like he had something about him. I didn't realise he had scored so many goals last season, it'll be interesting to see how he handles the step up for sure.

There's a chance Cheltenham could end up doing what we did, though I'd put that down to the strength of the manager rather than the strength of the squad. Johnson is a massive man motivator when it's going well.

But of course, let's not forget we struggled to adapt initially. I wonder whether Johnson could change up and deal with any struggles, or whether he'd do what he did at City, Yeovil etc. and any poor spells would escalate.

Basically, if they get off to a good start I expect them to go up. If they don't, anything is possible. Certainly not convinced they could emulate our promotion after a poor start.

I think you'll have a similar season to Barnet's season back. Somewhere between 12th-24th
