Really sad news. I've also felt I had to register so I can post on this thread...

I knew Sergei as DartfordOx from the long-defunct Non League Live and GrassRoots forums and first met him when he asked me for advice on blagging a ticket in the home end for Luton-Oxford in our first Conference season (Oxford's last).

Despite his having an Oxford fan's opinion of Luton we had the odd pre-match coffee in the Welling Costa when Luton were playing there (Welling being his local side). The last time I saw him was the day we were celebrating our escape from non-league at Park View Road on Easter Saturday 2014, having been promoted by other teams' results earlier in the week. He was dead chuffed it had taken us a year longer than Oxford to get back up.

If anyone who reads this is in touch with his wife, please give her condolences from the female Luton fan who waved to her through her kitchen window from outside Welling train station.

RIP Bernard :(

Hi Dee,
I remember you from one of the forums you mention - can't remember which one! We exchanged the odd post and DartfordOx was a fellow member. Can't remember my posting name - might have been 'Oxford Fan' or 'YellowHoods'. Very sad to hear of DO's passing.
Regards.
Pete

Hi Pete, you were "YellowHoods", I remember you well. There was lots of Oxford-Luton banter that season, I recall! Such a shame DO hasn't been able to see the conclusion of what looks like your best season since that one, probably.

Yes, I remember I committed the cardinal sin of accepting that Luton were the 'biggest' club in non-league. Whatever was I thinking? :bg: In most games we have been seriously good to watch this season. I've never felt so confident about promotion since the 1980s! As you say, a shame DO won't see it. Yellows forum found out about his death when his wife contacted our admin.

Well, we're members here now, so dare say we'll swap notes in future.

Pete

Jesus christ, he was a great poster and really added something to the forum. Didn't converse with him a lot but he was always a good poster when you did have a conversation with him. Rest in Peace Sergei.

Fucks sake, shit news. Was an avid player of my TFF L1 Prediction League back in the day, was pretty good at it as well from memory. RIP.

Echo what's been said, thoughts with his family and those who knew him. Cancer is just terrible.

I hope we can find some sort of tribute to him as was done with Rob Dunkley.

Awful news. Never met him but he was a good poster on here and you could always rely on him for a stat. As for a tribute for him, Maybe rename the predict the table game in his honour as I'm sure it's Sergei who has run that for as long as I can remember.

RIP mate.

I'm sure I was reading his posts jus a few days ago in the cup thread.

This has stunned me completely. Such shocking and sad news.
Yep, he did post in the League 2 in FA Cup 4th Round thread, so this comes as a total shock. He came across as a very fair and informative poster. RIP.
