Barnet will have to hope Chesterfield are as on the beach now they have nothing to play for as we were in 2011 when our assistant went nuts and wanted to have the team in during the summer for our lax attitude towards the final game.

I think you might be surprised, relegated/doomed sides often get shock results when the pressure's off, look at West Brom of late. Chesterfield may have only pride to play for, but that counts for a lot after what the players owe their long-suffering fans and surely they'll want to put in some kind of shift if they want to be kept on or snapped up by a league club.

My blood pressure is going through the roof just looking at the permutations, God knows what I will like by 15:00 on Saturday. Might have to drink a lot after 17:00, no matter what's happened.

Well, there are only two permutations out of 81 you need to worry about, both of which involve Barnet winning their final two games and you failing to pick up more than 1 point. I'd worry for your health if the gap were any smaller than 5 points, let alone your team actually being in the relegation zone!

Even then we only had one goal to show for it and had to survive a couple of heart stopping moments. So even if we take it to the last game of the season, nothing is being taken for granted. Well almost nothing, Grimsby will get another Rose (pen).

If Chesterfield are on the beach then they'll probably play better.

Ha ha, the hypocrisy of Barnet fans is brilliant. How often have they benefitted from Akinde (pen) over the years. I'm sure they were all stonewallers.

I wasn't aware I'd tried to defend Akinde at all with that post?

Come on though, it's obviously understandable that Barnet fans aren't ecstatic over the fact that awful refereeing decision has taken place.

I think this thread will be done and dusted come 5 pm on Saturday. Draw specialists Morecambe will keep us at bay.

If we're drawing late doors, you'd imagine Allen will get Tarpey, Akpa-Akpro, Akinola, Akinde and Coulthirst on together, and chuck Santos up top too. Keeper will be coming up for everything as well.

Whatever happens tomorrow, given where we were just a few games ago, at least we still have a chance which is quite an achievement.

Unfortunately I think we will get relegated tomorrow. Morecambe are clear favourites with home advantage and loving a draw. I can't see us winning.
Grimsby despite being fortunate at Swindon still held out so a win at home shouldn't be be impossible to achieve.

I see a draw for us Bees and a win for Grimsby.

If we manage the highly unlikely and win then we have achieved what Martin Allen set out to do and take it into the last game.

My expectations are so low, plus I've seen this before I know its not the end of the world like some might think.

Also Barnet seem to have the National League sussed out every time they are in it so I’d expect them back in League 2 within 2 years anyway.

How we fare next season, be it in L2 or more likely NL, will largely depend on who we appoint as manager.

I suspect our playing budget will be competitive at either level.

Sicking with Allen wouldn't be the worst idea in the world?

Where does Barnet’s money come from for a ‘competitive budget’. You have a small fanbase at either L2 or NL Level. Rich owners?

I would hardly say that we have a small fan base at NL level and the fact is that unlike all of the other clubs who have come up from the NL since automatic promotion was introduced in 1987 we have never played below NL level since that league’s creation in 1979.

But yeah the income from the Hive complex enables us to have a good budget at L2 level, it’s just that bad executive decisions have squandered that.

Usually our Achilles heel is dropping points to the bottom teams while picking up points against the better teams but looking at the table this year if we do stay up it's down to our results against the bottom teams. Out of the bottom 9 teams we've played 15 games (still yet to play FGR away) and picked up 28 points from those games, how crucial those points have been given our current predicament.

We should be 3-0 up and safe if not for a couple of good saves. Praying they don't come back to bite us now.

If Barnet hold on to this win I reckon they’ll escape.

Barnet will beat chesterfield at home and I think morecambe will lose at Coventry.

Unbelievable. This has been our best performance of the season by a good margin and now there's a chance it won't even be enough.

Fair play to Grimsby and FGR. They got far more points the last few weeks than I expected. Looks like we take it to the wire with a decent run, just a shame it didn't come earlier

Coventry need a point to be sure of the play-offs and they are pretty inconsistent, I reckon the teams will play out a mutually beneficial draw.
