Any fan who bigs up or gets down from a pre season must either be naive or new to football. Anyone taking those fans seriously are nearly as bad.

I don't blame you Chief best to look elsewhere when you are having your a$$ handed to you. On the open terrace there was the hard comment and chuckle at Wrexham equally poor start to the season. It's all we could do to keep spirits up.

I guess if you concede 5 to the mighty Barnet there is always a danger of conceding a few in the league above.

When I saw it was the keeper sent off for Notts I just nodded to myself, "sounds about right".

Haven't seen what happened but I can picture some fannying around at the back with the ball, they should have had a few reds for their keepers last season too.

Sorry to disappoint just a underhit back pass leaving the debutant keeper in no man's land just outside the area. He had an instant decision to make bring him down or let him walk around and score. Neither good options for the lad.

Our match is a good lesson in why stats don't always mean a great deal. On paper it looks like we had the upper hand. But the reality is the complete opposite.

Last season we didn't have too many consecutive poor performances. So hopefully we can start to put things right midweek and be stronger at the weekend.

Assume it's just a one match ban so he'll miss the cup game? Not the worst outcome if so. Probably not worth it in the end given how the game turned out though

Just watching the tinpot "highlights" show on ITV.

40 mins in and they've shown the highlights from TWO matches so far and 27 post-match interviews including the Plymouth head chef.

Defensively we were a car crash, largely influenced by that fucking donkey Ash Taylor.

Going forward we were ok, had enough chances to score but as usual nobody can finish.

Unless we decide to sign some wing backs or switch to a back four and sign some wingers we won't do anything.

Crawley are dreadful mind. They'll go down, no danger.
Sour grapes at the end or what!

On the day we deserved to win. Saying we are rubbish and will go down after we won must mean there will be one team below us at the end of the season...you!

Accept the defeat with some grace.

No sour grapes at all, I'm the first one to call us shit, which we are. And even then we were marginally the better side for the most part despite having a man less for an hour.

Based on what I saw yesterday, I can understand why you're favourites for the drop. And if Hughes continues to play Ash Taylor then you're right, we'll probably join you. Thankfully Stubbs should be back soon enough to ensure that doesn't happen.

Compared to what we had with Quest, it’s a massive downgrade.

It’s like the highlights programme ITV put out in the 2000s. ITV really shouldn’t be allowed near Football

After only scoring more than 2 goals in a game once last season it’s a pleasant surprise to score 5 in the first game of the season. Hopefully it’s an indication that our goal scoring problems from last season won’t continue into this.

After a massive player turnaround in the summer, it’s pleasing to see a couple of the new players among the goals and a couple more with assists.

I know the table means little if anything right now, but it’s nice to see us top of the league

Against competent strikeforces and with competent officiating they'll struggle. Luke Williams gone by November.

Did have a laugh over their result after how much Notts County fans were bigging up their 'excellent' pre season.
They will get found out with that comical high line.

It's just a screenshot of stats google scrapes. If you google the result then click into the game it gives you a breakdown.

If we'd won 5-1 I'd have been pretty excited at our prospects, rightly or wrongly. It's got to give you confidence going into the next match.

True but it's also very rare that both promoted sides were so far clear of the chasing pack. So it makes sense.

I've bet on MTFC getting promoted this season.

Tranmere manager: “Anyone watching will genuinely believe we deserved something”

Everyone in the comments: “We didn’t deserve anything”
I think you can argue it either way to be honest.

We were not great by any means, but we had more possession and more efforts on goal and two or three very good chances in open play. A draw would not have been unfair.
