Usually do this, and a decent way to keep an eye on how squads are shaping up.

Goalkeepers (2)
Paul Farman
Richard Walton (first year pro)

Defenders (6)
Bradley Wood
Lee Beevers
Jamie McCombe
Luke Waterfall
Callum Howe
Sam Habergham

Midfielders (9)
Terry Hawridge
Alan Power
Craig Stanley
Taylor Miles
Alex Woodyard
Keegan Everington
Elliot Hodge
Andrew Wright
Jack Muldoon

Strikers (3)
Matt Rhead
Alex Simmons
Jenk Akar (first year pro)

The squad is slightly inflated by the Cowleys choosing to keep every young player out of contracts (5 from the youth system). I suspect 2 or 3 will go out on loan to get game time and there's Matt Rhead who's likely to leave.

We'll probably only see another 2 or 3 in, hopefully in forward areas because that's where we're very short at the minute.

Andre Boucaud

Matt Robinson

Forwards (4)
Christian Assombalonga
Ollie Hawkins
Fejiri Okenabirhie
Jakub Berkowicz (First Year Pro)

Expect a few more incomings and outgoings in the next month or so. Not included Cureton as he's likely leaving, and although Boucaud is in there, we'll be looking to get shot of him. Pretty happy with the base of that squad, probably one or two more in each position bar goalkeeper and forwards and we'll be looking grand.

Just a couple of areas to work on, which is an improvement from recent seasons where we have only managed to throw a decent squad together at the last minute. Our defence is looking very strong and we could just do with another keeper as back up. As usual we've got lots of wingers, although Danny Rowe finished least season in the centre in very good form.

We really need some more central midfielders with Whitehead and Turnbull leaving. Whitaker may still sign but he's in his mid 30s now so must be thinking about his future. That leaves just Paul Lewis signed up, who spent most of last season injured. We're apparently looking at signing Kingsley James so that would be a good start.

We desperately need a couple of decent strikers to replace Kristian Dennis. Scoring goals will be the main issue to look at during pre-season.

Haven't included David Mellor as he's on the transfer list and won't feature, and Niall Cowperthwaite, who nobody's heard from since he went on holiday the day after the season finished. We're still about 5/6 short, with a couple of players not far off signing - the rest are likely to be triallists. (First game on Saturday against local league players)

Our first pre season friendly is in a week a half against Watford's full first team. Could be double figures. And it begins.

Doing from memory, so might have missed someone out.

Think we're reasonably covered for keepers and strikers. Defensively, we need cover at left-back, where Ridehalgh had an indifferent and injury-prone season, being greedy perhaps another central defender too. Midfield requires some creativity and pace. Expect at least 3 more additions, more if Sutton or Stockton depart.

I hope that's true, I wish we never got rid of Bartlett he's 10 times the GK Russell was last season

I thought he was top quality for us. Not good enough for a title challenging team in your opinion then?

We're just about done in terms of signings maybe with the exception of looking for a large Target man style CF.
A lot or unknown quantities in that team at this level. Think most have played at Evo-stik but no higher before their time with us. But I'm optimistic we've built on the squad that got us a record equaling 104 points last season. A top 10 finish for us this season would be a success looking at the other teams in the league. And as long as we're back in Darlo at some point this season and get somewhere north of mid table most darlo fans will see it as a successful season.

That's a very impressive front 4 you have got. Will score plenty of goals in the Conf North for sure.

Also the signing of Liam Marrs will be key. He's an excellent player.

Updated to add in Stephenson from Chorley and remove Stockton, who has gone to Morecambe on loan.

Looking ok-ish. Complete lack of pace at CB, still in need of a left sided midfielder and I'm not sure we're strong enough up front - Simmons won't be a 10 goal a season guy at his age, Akar's will hardly get a look in, Marriott is coming back from a couple of bad years with injury and Rhead, as far as we're aware, still wants out (or at least he hasn't retracted his transfer request).

I'd like to see us shift 3 of the younger lads who aren't likely to get much game time (Akar, Wright and Everington) out on loan to free a little bit up for potentially another new face on top of the left sided player we need.

26 players (25 with injury) but Cooper has said he wants to trim this with players going out on loan.o
Initially thought Kieffer Moore may go on loan given the competition, but he looked reborn and very good last night. Think we've got a target man to replace Parkin (perhaps not as good, but certainly cheaper). Some shrink under the threat of competition and others grow, early indications are the lad has character.

I think we're looking better than okay, I'd say it's easily the strongest squad we've had since being down here (especially if we sign Caton). With everyone fit our subs bench will be very strong, for a start. I do have the same reservations over our lack of pace at CB though and I'm surprised that hasn't been looked at. I get the feeling Cowley will go with Howe alongside McCombe, as he's got a bit of pace, but he's far too error prone and his positioning is all over the place.

I agree GG, think it's the best squad we have had down here, Caton would be a terrific final piece to a decent looking jigsaw. I do also worry about pace at the centre of our defence and in an ideal world would have someone quick to partner McCombe as not many will win the ball in the air against him. Would still pick Waterfall over Howe because I reckon what you lose in mobility you gain more in defensive ability. Would only be using Beevers as cover, Habergham (should) be a damn better LB than Lee and Wood will be his usual combative self.

It's looking good to me, the biggest difference over last season is we probably have not one, but two of the best managers in this league. Am really hoping we can turn all the positivity around the city in the appointment of the Cowleys into points and league position on the pitch.
