John Sheridan sacked then....

Well that was obviously going to happen. Need to make a shrewd appointment though now. Something Notts have not done for a millennia

A very reputable source tells me Dean Saunders will be appointed before the week is out.

This is not made up, I trust my source.

Bye John, forever cherish the crown of worst manager in our history.

Now go and get Danny Cowley.

I thought Cowley but he would be mad to leave Lincoln for a club in the mess Notts are in.

It must be a ridiculous move for Cowley to go to county, Lincoln are on fire.

Good signing if they do get them - don't go anywhere near Saunders though!?

The team is terrible but it all depends on the ambitions of the new owner, I suppose. I still think it would be a fairly sensible move - keeping us up should still be an easier task than getting that one promotion spot in the Conference and if you can get to the summer with league status in tact then we're obviously a bigger club with more resources than Lincoln.

meh, depends how it's sold to him - if the job is posed as a brand new owner giving him x amount of cash in January with the sole objective of finishing 3rd from bottom or above and then being offered a budget in the summer bigger than what Lincoln's would be next season if they went up then it's not hard to fathom - without mentioning the salary.

Hardy won't go for him anyway, it'll be someone he's championed on Twitter in the past - Gary McAllister or someone he's met at his golf course once.

You've got no hope with Cowley(s).

our captain's just called a fan a dickhead on Twitter, said players haven't been paid and then removed 'Notts County player' from his bio.

There are some good guys out there: we seem to have found 'a rough diamond' with Bignot, but time will tell. Hope you do not go for a 'name' again but look for an up and coming manager with passion and ambition as we did. Good luck in your search.

Nice sense of timing from Gillingham, think Edinburgh makes a lot of sense.

That would be a good one for you - he knows the league well. Very astute manager, and good knowledge of this league from Newport

Bit like John Sheridan then, apart from the from newport bit. Edinburgh would be good if we could tempt him.

It's for others to comment on the quality (or lack of) of your players, but he'd be a very good shout.

You should work quickly with a new manager given the windows open.

You guys remind me of us 2 seasons ago, when we finished 22nd - we were absolutely terrible - like worse than we were when relegated to the conference, easily.

However, we were fortunate enough to have 2 other sides terrible enough to somehow we worse than us, maybe this could be the case here

We got refused permission to speak to Rowett a few seasons ago, that's turned out to be quite annoying.

Bit of a outsider looking in really ain't been to meadow lane in years was good setup but why so many managers, waste of space owners? Was on sky sports Notre county ain't ended a season with same manager they started with since 2008. Sheridan has worked at similar level yet ain't done much so why not give Alan Smith a go

a couple got prematurely sacked but by and large we've just appointed managers who have been shite. There's only a couple that Trew hasn't backed at all - Kiwomya and 'maybe' Derry's second season but the rest have had decent enough budgets to make a good fist of it (Curle in particular got a far bigger budget than any manager we've had since I've been a Notts fan). The problem's always been building a squad/strategy that then doesn't fit the next manager - i.e. Derry being followed by Moniz who was then followed by Fullarton which then leaves you with bloated squads and no clean slate or full budget to work with - they also have to inherit backroom staff etc...

Add that to the constant influx of CEOs + random other positions like Matt Alexander (who is a great bloke admittedly) and Guy Branston (who ensured Moniz never stood a chance) which all seem to conflict with each other and you've got an absolute mess.

the one positive of Sheridan's era is that we have very few players under contract come the summer. Collin, Dickinson, Forte, Tootle, O'Connor and that's it I believe - although in an ideal world, only Forte and possibly Tootle would survive this January window. I think the backroom staff will have all dispersed as well - if the new owner is a compelling fella then he could easily sell the club as an attractive position. Ultimately it will depend on the £££ he's willing to give a new bloke though.

Just to throw my two penneth in, I'd like Justin Edinburgh. I don't want any part of Flitcroft. I assume the likes of Saunders and Cox are listed in the odds as part of an elaborate joke.

Cox must be an elaborate joke. Scary thing is he probably does know Hardy quite well...

I'd be happy with Justin Edinburgh - decent manager who got Gills playing some good football. Whoever comes in has to fancy the fight as the players have clearly given up

Erm, JED didn't really get us playing decent football. In fact for the last 12 months we've been dire. He was also very well backed in the transfer market last summer and failed to build anything remotely assembling a competent defence. I wish him well and a step down the leagues might help him out, but I'm not sure he's the right fit for Notts at the moment.

The chances of Paul Cox going there are quite high, i think he even said once he'd love to manage a club he played for. And yes he's pals with Hardy... doesn't have the best record in the league though. He's a conference wizard when he's got money.

Part of me feels sorry for Sheridan.

It can't be easy to motivate people who aren't getting paid. He clearly tried to alter things too much, but I think the players completely gave up the first sign of trouble. His CV suggests that he knows something about being a football manager even if that didn't translate to the squad.

Hardy has a massive job in getting a winning mentality into a Club that has basically lacked one for around 3 years.

I see Alex Rodman is set to sign for Shrewsbury. Is there any truth to the rumours that the players have not been paid?

We are under transfer embargo because the players haven't been paid

Bit of a strange one Rodman - not really sure at all what he offered us as a team
