Stop the season now.

WE. ARE. AVERAGE - say we are average.

Bring it on.

Given that Rotherham are likely to be the first team to guarantee being in League One next season, does that mean they win the mid table thread??

Well, looking at the table tonight, with four teams now bracketed between 11th and 15th on 51 points (and with a 5 point gap above and 4 below) this could turn out to be the most exciting 'mini league" evaaaah.
(Just a shame about our own abysmal GD)

Hell no, Lincoln are a bunch of festering sell-outs who’ve abandoned their core draw specialist principles for some pathetically idealistic view of scoring lots of goals and tonking people - what’s up with that?

IMG_3725.jpeg

I feel at this stage, it’s between Wigan, us, Charlton and (as an outlier) Reading - although you still feel the latter could still get hit by more points deductions at any time, which could throw a spanner in the works of the entire competition.

GD really is key here, so some of the other sides have screwed themselves.

It would truly be living the dream if we could do a Tinpot and Mid-Table double this season - prestige comes no greater.

Give it to Wigan then they like to inflate their long History of winning Trophies

I do think we need a rethink on the whole Goal Difference thing. Maybe urgently put it on the agenda at the next FA meeting...

We seem to have reverted back to the mean now. 10 unbeaten but 7 are draws and have been really poor the last 3 games but contrary to earlier on in the season have been solid enough at the back that we haven't lost. Can't really see us winning many more the rest of the season based off of how we have been playing.

The only thing that might work against you is that game in hand you have against us. You might still be able to reach the play offs while others can’t. The perils of having international call ups.

I’m going for Wigan or Exeter.

Cambridge here - now we are level on points with Reading and with a game in hand, can we transfer over from the Relegation Dogfight club please?

No way, I’m not counting my chickens yet. Two defeats and we’re right back in it!

Yeah, personally I’d want a greater margin of safety than Cambridge before getting beach ideas. I doubt it’ll go down to the final day for you for an epic face-off with Vale, but you never know.

Have us and Exeter won this then?

We can’t go up and as of today mathematically safe

Yeah I think Northampton have won it - congrats! Exeter can still go down as Cheltenham, Vale and everyone up from there can still catch them.

Incredible work from the shoe-lovers.

I’m jealous, we made a good fist of it but in the final analysis all those games in hand were to our detriment.

You get a free meal at the Sixfields Frankie & Benny’s to celebrate - there’s no better way to applaud mediocrity than a slap-up meal at a franchise restaurant within a retail park.

Woo!

There’s no way to mitigate for the extra game unfortunately, and it’s a bit harsh to lose out if, say, you got a game postponed because of another team’s international call-up or whatever - but that’s life.

In retrospect, we didn’t help our cause by taking the Tinpot seriously (leading to rearranged games), but we also got fucked over by other teams postponing.

Oh well - fair play to Northampton, quite the achievement to be getting silverware in your first season back in the dizzy heights of the third tier.

Well it's certainly put some spice into the game in a fortnight.
Hopefully both teams can put on a spectacle by passing it around the centre circle for 90 minutes a la West Germany v Austria 1982

Good point!
Curse that "international break". Shouldn't final judgement be deferred until after our outstanding game in the Orient on Tuesday?

Nope. Suck it up, buttercup.

Congratulations to the Cobblers! Silverware in your first season back at this level is nothing to be sniffed at.

I hope you're right but the league looks a bit tougher next year. We also seem to finish the season strongly every season and then start the new one abysmally, ruling us out of playoffs by December. I do trust Jones though. If he can't get us playoffs then I think the club is just fundamentally screwed

A nod to Charlton for sneaking up and taking our draw specialist crown.

Also mathematically safe after 43 games, same as Northampton.
