A 15-year-old asylum seeker living in a refugee centre in Sweden has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an employee at the shelter was fatally stabbed.

Alexandra Mezher, 22, was attacked today at around 8am at a centre for unaccompanied migrant children aged between 14 and 17 in Molndal, on Sweden's west coast.

She was taken to Sahlgrenska Hospital but later died of her injuries.

The incident as a number of young girls said they had been sexually assaulted by young male asylum seekers at a public swimming pool in central Stockholm - while police have warned the city's train station is 'overrun' by gangs of young, male migrants who are stealing and 'groping' women.

The whataboutism you display is impressive. You barely acknowledge the fact that there are horrendous sexual assaults carried out by these refugees but you are more than quick to acknowledge and tell us all about the abuse refugees face.
Is this not the thread for posting relevant articles about the refugee crisis then? I think it's helpfull to strike a balance. There are a few articles linked on this thread if you want to read about crimes carried out by migrants.

No comment on Denmark's new law then? Seen nothing on facebook either. Surprised there's not been more of a reaction from the public.

Pretty shameful imo, it has no practical application in terms of paying for care, makes it harder for refugees to integrate and has some fairly distasteful connotations. It's not really meant as a practical solution though. It's fairly obvious it's designed to deter refugees from applying for asylum in Denmark. Essentially the Danes have made a decision that they don't want any part in helping refugees. Make of that what you will.

There was some discussion of it when it was first proposed. Generally negative reactions.

I certainly don't agree with it but the comparisons with Nazi Germany are ludicrous.

Agree though you can see why some naturally draw the link.

I just can't believe they got it through. There must be a human right or European law of some sort which this contravenes.

I'm sure I read that some German regions are doing something similar too.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

Why? Its something the nazi's did.

The old adage of those who forget history are condemned to repeat it is becoming meaningless, because you can't compare anything to the Nazis until they've actually started wiping out sections of the population. When it would be a little too late.

It was the same with the stuff about wristbands. Just pointing out that forcing people to wear visible identifying marks to show the world that they are part of a certain group is 'a thing the Nazi's did'. It doesn't mean that the people who made that decision are five minutes away from a night of the long knives. But that doesn't mean people shouldn't point out that it was a thing that happened.

They weren't given wristbands to show everyone they were asylum seekers, it was to show the people caring for them that they were eligible for that care. No different to going to a festival and getting s wristband. There is an obsession with noting anything which seems remotely like what the Nazis did.

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
I found the whole red door thing pretty unpleasant. Even if the explanation seemed reasonable that it was the standard colour paint for all those contractor's client property regardless of asylum seekers or not. It still felt uneasy. And if you had to choose one colour to use as standard, then red is a really stupid idea FFS and whoever made that decision needs a slap.

However I find the wristband issue a little ridiculous and over the top though. Practically speaking there needs to be some way of distinguishing those eligible for free food and care. The other way might be an ID card for example. Should we make asylum seekers carry a special ID card around everywhere? I find that idea much more unpleasant and 'Nazi-ish' personally. A small wristband that can be covered by clothing, which requires a quick flash to staff, seems more reasonable to me. People wear wristbands long term to indicate medical issues for example.

If there is a neater, more subtle way of doing the job then good, and perhaps given the media furore someone will come up with something, but I think there's bigger issues to be worried about at the moment.
