While other people were questioning and debating Theresa May's Brexit speech, the only thing that I was remotely interested in was this match, or more precisely this question - with so many U's and Stags fans on this fine forum why did no one bother to start a thread for this match?

The answer may well be simple enough. This looks like it has nil nil written all over it, and not an entertaining one at that, but one of those snoozefests where one starts to question the choices he or she makes in life. Still, there's always the small chance that a couple of players from either side disregard their managers instructions, and actually go for it. Or perhaps a worldie from a new recruit trying to impress his new manager....

0-0
Yellow Cards - 6, Red Cards - 1
att - 3987 moaning home fans with 421 Staggies for a total of 4408.

Wow, positive post. We both drew 0-0 last week didn't we? Therefore I'm going to predict it's not goalless this weekend - we don't have that many 0-0s.

We'll smash the fuckers. 4-0.

We haven't conceded in 4 but a couple of these against opposition of questionable quality. We have so many new faces it is almost impossible to predict a result but I would be more than happy with a point here.

Wow Laker, ultra positive post ;)

I wasn't being serious with my 'people start questioning their choices' comment. Still, I reckon this one will be very very tight and am expecting both sides trying to cancel each other out. So, most likely one of those 1-0 wins or like I said earlier a goal less draw.

tbh, I predicted a U's win on Oakey's predicta, but am having second thoughts after remembering the way Mansfield like to set up. Unless of course, Evans has changed things around and they're setting up differently.

I've been backing Mansfield quite a bit lately expecting the EVANS effect to take over but it doesn't seem to have fully kicked in yet.

Hard game to predict this but a draw seems most likely to me depending on which of our injured players are back, hoping for a definite start for Halliday, we're missing him and for dunk to be involved at some stage, I've given up on corr though.

Wow Laker, ultra positive post ;)

I wasn't being serious with my 'people start questioning their choices' comment.......... .
Two days of boozin' and birdin' (about to become 3 nights of boozin') Has delivered some great music listens, a couple of interesting films from my mate's Tivo box and great views of Crossbills, Bramblin's, Siskins, Red Crested Pochard and Great Northern Diver. The visit of that c*nt Evans and his sidekick has been even further from my mind than who Barrow have next in the Trophy on their route to a "Won twice at Wembley" promotion season.

Tomorrow's match should be a nice 3 point tightening up of the ship before we head to Lu'on and grind out another 3 points to set up a push for 3rd place.............................................or the form book and our actual capabilities will kick in and 0 - 0 is the most obvious outcome.

My more pressing concerns are that I (apparently) have tickets for Salif Keita on 11/2 (edit) which clashes with my plans to take up Jim Bentley's offer of a free pie and pint at the Globe Arena.

Cambridge are obviously an alright side, and at home so it'll be a challenging one. Was impressed with them the other night against Leeds.

We are brining in better players and the form is improving, but from a relatively low base level.

I'd happily run off with a point now.

For some strange reason I've got a good feeling about this one. 1 - 0 to the Stags.

Could do with a win after last week but it'll be tough, we looked tired last week and should be refreshed now, but we're still going to be unbalanced on the left side of midfield which doesn't really help our style of play. Hard not to think low scoring draw.

A pitch inspection now at 12.

After all Mansfield fans will have left. Why not do it earlier....

Agreed it's the ref, but surely if there was any doubt about it you'd have said something before...

Either way. Hopefully be on

I don't think there's anything wrong with the ground myself. I live 4 miles away, we had a decent frost last night but it's thawed well this morning. I'd play on it and I'd be pissed off if the game is off.

Cant really win with pitch inspections, do it too early and you can't tell how it'll be at 3:00

Cambridge should invest in some frost covers

Pretty sure having covers is a requirement for league football.

Anyway, my prediction is 1-1. Mingoia. Att. 4123

Young Leon Davies comes in for his first start at right back today as there's no halliday and Taylor, best of British to him!

So we battered them.

Happy days.

I don't think anyone expected that result

Very poor today, and for the umpteenth time,we failed to beat a top half side. Today's game and the Blackpool one confirmed to me that Derry hasn't got more than one way to approach a football match. Plan A and that's it, and if our opponents keep Berry and Uche quiet, we're totally sussed out. I'm not calling for Derry's head as I know we're missing Halliday and Dunk, I'm only saying what is very clearly obvious to all U's fans.

Good thing I don't tend to get carried away after beating some lower table or conference bound side. My fellow U's fans will label me a pessimist, but they would be wrong.

Signed, a realist.

I didn't go today. So bow to any feedback supplied by those that did, but we certainly weren't a top half side at the start of play today

Mansfield were smarter and stronger than us. We didn't have an answer. Simple as really.

Mansfield deserved to win.

We were on top in the first 20, took the lead and looked good. Then Evans and Raynor got up to their usual antics and unsettled us, the game and the ref.

They took control, increased the physicality and we didn't have an answer to it. In panic we spent the rest of the game lumping balls long, which their centre halves (who were excellent) mopped up as easy as you like.

They were your archetypal Evans side today and I wouldn't bet against them making the playoffs.

As for us... what a missed opportunity it will be if we don't strengthen further before the transfer window closes. We have a good first 11 but need some decent alternate options to take the pressure off our key players. We've signed two teenagers on loan and a lad from Macclesfield.

Good win against a good side!

we've got three more players coming in, One bid has been accepted and we've bid 300K for another.... Looking good for the playoff charge!

IF we go on a run we could nip in a third haha we were 14 points off the top when we won the conference and won 11 games in a row, won't happen but can dream.

We were very poor today, Mansfield decent and deserved the win, but really annoying against an Evans team to take the lead and capitulate, normally we go behind and then get frustrated for the rest of the game. Last week was frustrating as we should've won, today was just flat out disappointing.

We miss Haliiday's creativity and the problems he causes defences going forward, and we miss the balance that Dunk gives us on the left which frees up the space for Mingoia, Berry and Uche, we have to get them back ASAP. Maris did OK today on the left but we're just lopsided, it's like the plugging of Hughesy or Donaldson on the right again, I'd rather stick Adams out there but whilst our two best full backs are out I think we need him at right back, Davies doesn't look ready, he was an easy target for them today.

Big game next week, we've got to generate some new ideas this week, Luton don't look like they're anything special and they'll be missing two of their best players, we've got to take advantage and finally show it against someone who isn't going to be 14th or lower at the end of the season.

It's nice to see opposition fans saying how we're screwed them over supposedly because of evans, long may it continue...

Cambridge are a good side, a decent side with a good manager, With a decent backing of fans. I'm happy serve got there and won.

I predicted a defeat and could see we'd get beat after the first 20 mins, despite going in front.

What Mansfield lack in quality certainly make up tactically and the physicality across the back four and midfield. Rose impressed me, caused us problems playing in the hole all day.

Plan A didn't work and we don't have a plan B. Derry said we're done in the transfer market. I will eat my hat if we don't bring in a winger with pace before the window closes.

Didn't go but it's coming across we were clearly the superior team, it's a good result too.

Hopefully this is a sign that Evans is starting to shape a team capable of a play-off push. Fair play for dropping Green and Arquin considering they did not perform against County.

Without being outstanding that was a good performance from us. I'd say everyone was a 7/10. Cambridge did look poor yesterday afternoon but they were in good form going into that game so for us to come from 1 down and win away was very pleasing. Even more pleasing that we are only 3 points from the Play offs. Evans is still after 3 players so hopefully some more quality in the midfield.

I do like the big lad up front for Cambridge though.

Btw, I thought Legge fouled their lad so Evans had a point. That's what I thought at the match, and after watching the highlights I'm now more convinced it was indeed a penalty.
